The restaurant has a cozy and comfortable ambience. The tapas options are absolutely amazing. The preparations are very elaborate and offer a phenomenal concoction of flavors. Needless to say, the main course was just as amazing. I’d really recommend the roasted aubergine tapas

This is a pretty small place, so you might want to make a reservation if you’re eating during prime dinner time. I went with a group and did the tasting menu, which we really enjoyed. The beet gnocchi and mushroom croquettes were so good! That was my first time having stuffed gnocchi(Gorgonzola) and it had a beet sauce and was topped with more cheese! YUM. The spinach pastries were also delicious and while the potatoes look unsuspecting, but the sauces are spectacular. Definitely try this place for the experience.

Very creative plant based food from the innovative Argentinean chef who runs this place. Make sure to reserve since this place is booked almost every night. The tasting menu is a good way to try the best of his dishes, although I think it is much better for vegetarians than for vegans. If you are vegan, choosing individual items such as the outstanding roasted cauliflower(almost never included in the tasting menu) might be a better bet.

After a long day or sightseeing in Barcelona, I was famished to say the least. This was our last night in Barcelona, and I wanted to finish with a great meal. We found this restaurant highly recommended, so we decided to try it. My wife and I ordered the 7 tapas tasting, but were a bit apprehensive about whether it would be enough food. It was just the right amount. We received 7 tapas, 2 alcohol beverages each, and 2 desserts. Everything was incredible! The pumpkin pie was not something I ever would have ordered on my own, and it was absolutely delicious. The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. I would definitely go back.

Despite numerous tapas bars and mid-range restaurants that we visited, Sésamo was by far the best meal we had. Although it is a vegetarian restaurant, it is worth it even for the most diehard meat-lovers. If you’ve seen it written in other reviews, they are not wrong: get the tasting menu. 7-ish dishes(a couple are served together, so it ends up being more like 9 or 10) and a delightful dessert, plus two drinks(or one sangria). Fair warning to all — pace yourself. It is a tasting menu, and this restaurant ought to be enjoyed in the company of friends, with the expectation of a 3-hour dining experience … at least. If you are not up to that full experience, then, firstly, I urge you to reconsider. But just in case, let me give you a few tips about the best dishes. Croquetas are a fairly standard tapas plate, and while often good, rarely wow the tastebuds. The mushroom croquetas are an exception to this trend. The master who creates these croquetas has managed to maintain the creamiest of insides with a perfectly crispy skin on the outside. The mushroom flavour is a steady but not overwhelming umami. I would also implore you to get the gnocchi. As I have attempted to make this pasta myself several times, I know that it can be a difficult pasta to create, balancing the texture, flavor, and size. All of these are managed and it is served in a beet root sauce that adds another dimension. Sésamo also puts a spin on the pan con tomate, serving it with provolone cheese and green tomatoes that have been baked in a ceramic dish. The curry is to die for, I have it on good authority(no, not my own, although I was also impressed). Everything else was good, at the very least on par with the other tapas bars. You’re getting more than just bang for your buck. The only thing I wouldn’t recommend is the sangria, got for the white wine instead. Finally, make sure to end with homemade chocolate truffles. They’re some of the best.

Wonderful time at Sesamo We arrived a bit early & got to indulge in their specialty gin & Tonic drinks — the Mr had the Bombay daily special that came with fresh kafir leaves & I opted for the San Francisco which had cardamon seeds. Both were out of this world! Tasting menu was such a hard decision to make but we wanted to try a little of everything & this seemed like the best opportunity to do just that! It’s chef’s choice so you have no idea what the menu will be — but you can be assured it will be tasty! Strawberry gazpacho– lots of black pepper… so good! Potatoes with carrot purée lots of white pepper & eggplant w tahini Mushroom croquette — lovely mousse & loved the thick breaded coating Pardon pepper with lime & chili — very mild & flavorful Red cabbage w sundried tomato & mint in Egyptian spices Bread olive oil & fresh smashed tomato Roasted pumpkin stuffed provolone cheese — awesomeness Grilled gnocchi in beetroot sauce & hazelnuts Chickpea curry with spinach & cashew. Hardly any spinach flavor & this is a great thing(for me). The cashew took center stage & it was a lovely dish Mango mousse w coconut milk pomegranate & chia

Cozy spot with very flavorful food. English menu available and waitstaff is incredibly friendly The curry dish is absolutely delicious and you NEED to order it. The brownie is so beautiful, I can’t even believe it exists on earth. Cauliflower is worth trying because of the theatrical presentation. Tasted good but a little underwhelming compared to what we expected. Padron peppers with lime and chili are a must!

This place is an experience, not just restaurant. Don’t be taken off by surroundings or the entrance as it’s bit outdated. Place is very tiny just with 8 tables, so make sure to book in advance. Chef Alfredo goes extra mile to greet all guests and even serves food personally. Adding to this very friendy service will make evening unforgettsble experience. There is a «tasting» menu available with 7 different foods for € 25, which is worth trying or menu has few options but don’t forget to ask about specials of the day as they are worth try. We went for delicious gnocchi filled with gorgonzola in beetroot and hazelnut sauce, ravioli filled with mushrooms and thyme sauce and breathtaking baked cauliflower with tahini sauce, corriander in green chillic sauce and pine nuts and pomerange. Cauliflower althought looks stunning is bit too much of same taste at the time, so wont recommend it in one go unless you have someone to share with. Ravioli was best of the three. For desert I can recommend pumkin pie with cardamon cream or chocko, avocado musse. Overall 5 out of 5 experience. Must stop for vegetarians and vegans visiting Barcelona

As a vegetarian I can say that good vegetarian restaurants are hard to find. This is definitely one of them! Sésamo is a restaurant where vegetarian cuisine is taken seriously and not just an extra thing on the menu. We ordered the tasting menu, and it was super delicious and good value for money. € 25 for seven small dishes(which felt like much more), two glasses of wine and a dessert to share. We were perfectly full and satisfied when we were done. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone — also non-vegetarians. Service was helpful and attentive and the look to the kitchen revealed very good kitchen hygiene. All in all a very satisfying experience!

I loved this restaurant. I live in Los Angeles and I’m vegan. So, I am very picky about my food. Lets just say this place is a great find! I love it. Its small and intimate and vegan and vegetarian friendly. I don’t believe they serve any meat here. They do serve real cheese, however. Just ask for the vegan version of what ever you order just to be sure. Anyway, loved this place overall. I am coming back soon!

If you’re a vegetarian traveling in Barna, you should definitely put this restaurant(and Quinoa – a tiny, incredibly delectable and inexpensive spot) on your list – and put it near the top. In fact, even if you’re not vegetarian – and you’re just looking for some veggie-relief from all of the jamon, put this place on your list. If I were making your itinerary, I’d send you to Quinoa for lunch and Sesamo for dinner(reservations strongly recommended). These two restaurants aren’t close together in proximity, but why should they be? Get out and explore the city beyond its tourist-centrist confines! We went there at 10:30 on a Friday night – were twenty minutes late for our reservation(we were really on Spanish time!) and had to wait a bit for a table. But that gave us time to look over the menu and strategize. We ordered the chef’s salad(a big salad, perfect for sharing, that the chef devises based on the freshest ingredients she’s got going in her kitchen), fried balls of mushroom amazingness, tostadas with fresh tomato, and the head of cauliflower drizzled with tahini and pesto. We loved all of it. One of the restaurant employees explained to us that the kitchen tries to play with a combination of Spanish, Argentinian, and Indian tapas. A combination that in their hands is so wonderful.

This restaurant was excellent and offers only veggie, with several options for vegans. It is small and probably best to book as it filled up quickly and the meal is a long one. We shared several dishes to start and all were tasty, especially a fried red cabbage special of the day and the potatoes were also nice. For my main I had a salad, which was large and fresh, and the beet root gnocchi was also very good. It is a nice space, tucked at the back behind a bar and was very quiet. It is slightly pricier than a tapas bar, but well worth it as everything was made fresh. The dessert was great, and they have quite a few options in addition to the special. They also offer a tasting menu for 25 euros each(min. 2 people), but we choose to pick what we wanted. The lady serving us was very attentive and friendly. We had a friend with us who spoke Spanish, the guy who runs it speaks English, but be prepared to try your Spanish if you venture here for a meal!

This was my most favorite meal in Spain. I somehow convinced my in-laws to join me for a vegetarian dinner, and I’m so happy we came here. It was just around the corner from our Airbnb, and we nearly walked right by it, as it looks like a quiet bar from the outside. But once we entered, we were quickly brought to a small dining room in the back with an open kitchen. It was so quaint, it warmed my heart. We skipped the tasting menu to just order nearly everything on the menu. The two standouts for me were the grilled red cabbage and the head of roasted cauliflower. Oh my!!! The cabbage was so meaty and savory, and flavored so well. When the cauliflower came out, I clapped with excitement. It had a steak knife sticking straight out of it, and I insisted on doing the honors. «This is the only opportunity I’ve ever had to carve and serve the main course.» It was so fun to share a true vegan centerpiece with my family, and the flavors really delivered. It was smothered in a silky tahini sauce and studded with pomegranate seeds. For dessert, I had the chocolate fondue, which came with a gorgeous assortment of fruit, including figs and strawberries. When the waiter set the dish down and explained that it was also accompanied by two roasted vegan marshmallows, I yelled, «YOUHAVEGOTTOBEKIDDINGME. SERIOUSLY, VEGANMARSHMALLOWS?!» Maybe not yelled, but it was loud enough for the chef in the back to laugh in response. I felt absolutely spoiled. Sésamo is joining the ranks of Vedge and Crossroads as one of my most favorite restaurants, because of the way in which it treats vegetables like the main event. It’s not completely vegan, but there is more than enough for vegans to feast on, and the staff is well versed on what is and is not vegan, so you can eat without worry.

We were excited by all the reviews on Unilocal and other websites about the tasting menu. The tasting menu had interesting dishes, which was enjoyable because the rest of the tapas in Barcelona is so meat-centric. I did want to like the tapas more but for some reason wasn’t blown away by the dishes. But I still enjoyed the experience.

Chef choice of 7 tapas, wine, and a desert to share cannot be beat for € 25. Adorable little restaurant. Reservations recommended if you want to sit in the back dining area. 1 or 2 may eat without reservation in the front bar. Clientele very anglophone. Would definitely come back.

This was the best restaurant I went to in Europe. Best vegetarian dishes. I ordered dish by dish. I want to go back and try the tasting menu. 25Euros for 7 dishes, 2 drinks, water and dessert. Our waiter was such a delight and had some good recommendations. The potatoes with mojo was amazing; the sauce is the best sauce I’ve ever eaten. The spinach and cheese pastry puff was the best things hands down. GOHERE!

This is the best vegetarian restaurant we tried in Barcelona. Most of the food is vegan and awesome. It’s a tiny place and very cosy. The hosts were super friendly and attentive. Barcelona just surpassed San Francisco as our favorite veggie city!

Came here twice during my stay in Barcelona: once with my husband to do the prix fixe tasting menu, and once more with two more of our friends to have a tapas dinner. The tasting menu was fantastic, delight after delight! Everything here is prepared with so much thought and attention. We were surprised at how delicious the Canarian wrinkly potatoes with mojo sauce could be and can’t wait to try and replicate it at home. The three different desserts we tried over the two trips were also fantastic. Would definitely eat here again on another trip. The owner is also very friendly and gave us some great suggestions for nightlife after dinner!

Inventive, fresh, delicious cuisine tucked away on a windy side street in the Barri Gotic(don’t blink, you’ll miss it). We’ve been several times on a couple different trips to BCN. We’ve ordered entrees and we’ve also ordered one of everything off the appetizer menu. Everything is fantastic. You can’t go wrong here. Yes, it’s vegetarian but there’s no need for animal products at this place — the flavors are fantastic, rich, and balanced. The chef is fun. He wears a huge red hat and if he’s there the night you go, he’ll stop by and say hello. You can tell he’s someone who loves life — and it shows in his cooking. Don’t be fooled by the tiny bar in the front — keep walking through toward the back for the actual restaurant. This is quite a gem.

I travel globally and just really started using Unilocal and added a few reviews. I have recently been trying to move more to a veganish diet. Eating well on the road is not easy. So when I arrived at my hotel here in Barcelona I first asked for the local recommended locations. It was typical. Blah blah blah. I pulled up Unilocal.Took 5 minutes and found this small restaurant. It was a pleasurable 10 minute walk. Food was fantastic. Try the specials. I had the cheese and dried tomatoes to start. Cab wine. Cauliflower special. It was superb. Find this place. It is hidden but excellent.

Recomendado!!!
