The Philharmonic

This sports pub always is one of my go to places for non-​spanish sporting events. I’ve watched rugby, AFL, English football there. They are very good an ensuring the have what ever game that has been advertised on their website. (The website is great to find out what games they have on btw)
It’s run by a older Catalan (guy) /​English (girl) couple. She is fun and chirpy, and I’ve found him to be a little bit of the opposite. The food is poor and the young staff tend to always seem overwhelmed.
As a venue to watch a game, it’s great. Another else, it just doesn’t come up to standard.

Sat at the bar, got quick service, pints are ~5 €, they had Tv’s with sports on them what more can you ask for.
If you’re an American and I suspect English as this is an English pub and you’re looking for a dive bar that reminds you of a run down hole in the wall with good service and a bartender who speaks English then this is the place. Didn’t eat so no comment on food

Made a stop here one night when no other place was open (I think it was a sunday). Bartender was super nice and chatted it up with us, felt a little like home so maybe that is why I liked it. Old wood, tons of alcohol choices. Can’t complain.

Nett gemachter Pub in dem anscheinend auch ab und an Live-​Musik oder Konzerte stattfinden. Durchaus für das ein oder andere Bier zu empfehlen. Lediglich die Musik von vorne, die sich mit der Anderen vermischte, störte etwas.

Este es un pub inglés de los auténticos. Paredes recubiertas de madera y con ese ambiente oscuro y recargado (con un punto kitsch) tan característico. Cuando estas dentro, la sensación es que debe de estar lloviendo fuera, sea la época del año que sea. El ambiente es muy familiar.
La comida es típica de pub inglés, con muchas fries, mucho bacon, roastbeef y otras especialidades de la cocina británica, y tienen una pequeña selección de cervezas internacionales.
Es un buen lugar para ir a ver el fútbol (tienen pantalla gigante), hacen actuaciones en directo y es especialmente recomendable el Quiz de los jueves, un concurso tipo trivial entre equipos, ambientado de forma muy divertida. Solo hay que ir y contestar a las preguntas mientras cenas o tomas algo.

Similar to other Unilocal reviewers, my friend and I came to this pub to watch World Cup near our hotel, and weren’t disappointed. The game was somewhat slow but the staff were very welcoming and the drinks were plentiful and cheap.
We wound up staying late after the game had ended. We had a great time hanging out with the bartender and other patrons, watching a mix of 80s-​90s music videos and turning it into a fun drinking game. Good times!

I didn’t intend on visiting an English pub while in Spain. But, It was the only place near my hotel showing the USA World Cup Soccer match. The décor is fitting of an English Pub. But, the food was sub-​par. The fish & chips was nothing to write home about, fish had no flavor & the batter was very greasy. The fries were decent. We also shared a burger, it was much better than the fish. I had a number of tap Guinness beers while watching the game, They were very good & priced fairly at 5 Euros each.
Plenty of TV’s showing the game, including a large projection screen in the back dining room. Great crowd for the game, must have been 75+ customers.
The pub is owned by an English couple, very nice & accommodating. Although, the daughter had a bit too much attitude for a waitress /​bartender. A couple of other patrons confirmed the same negative attitude from the daughter.

We strolled into this place randomly because it was close to our hotel and we wanted to watch a World Cup game and we couldn’t have made a better choice. This place is fun, great atmosphere and the staff is awesome. The owners have a great story and background and it’s just a great time. The bar is a great space and everyone should come here and get a drink.

Stopped by with an expat living in BCN. The Philharmonic feels like a familiar English pub. We just had drinks, but they have typical pub fare like burgers and chicken fingers. Very relaxed vibe and they were playing 80’s music videos on the big screen, which was awesome! Drinks were cheap. Less than 3 euro for a glass of wine.

Inaugurado el 17 de mayo de 1998 en Barcelona, donde se puedes sentir la esencia de los pubs británicos, tomando una cerveza inglesa saboreando un roast beef, o escuchando música en directo, lo mismo que si estuvieras en algún lugar de Inglaterra.
Con su estilo tradicional ingles y la decoración de madera le da un confort intimo y agradable, donde se puede cenar tranquilamente escuchando música de jazz en vivo unido a la sonoridad de la sala, lo que le facilita que sea uno de los mejores lugares para escuchar música. Artistas de la talla como los pianistas Bill Charlap, y Luís Pardelláns, el saxofonista Perico Sambeat, o la cantante Anna Luna, entre otros han pasado por aquí.

I live next to this bar and it’s made my time here in Barcelona worth living. I’ve gotten to know the people in this bar very well. The bartender (Dan) is a really cool and personable guy and the woman running the bar (Jackie) is a real sweet heart and she really keeps the place alive.
You MUST try their hamburgers, they are just delicious. They also play live Jazz music here which can bring in a nice crowd. I’ve also watched many Barcelona soccer matches here which have made for some very good times.
I would definitely recommend this place any night of the week.
P. S. Don’t forget to hit the late bar (Bagoa) just down the street to cap off your night. It’s a great way to end your night.

Cuando el local parece inglés, los camareros parecen ingleses, la camarera parece inglesa, la música lo es, la comida –aunque buena, pues la patata rellena de pollo al curry está más que correcta– parece inglesa, las cervezas lo son –pero tienen un poco de todo-​, el idioma mayoritario que oyes lo es, etc., etc., es que estás en Inglaterra…, o en el Philharmonic. Todo, muy auténtico (menos el pan con tomate que nos pusieron para acompañar: que soy fan del pan con tomate, pero ¡no lo espero ver en un pub inglés!).
Fui el otro jueves y estaba lleno, porque hacen un quiz con preguntas a cuál más difícil. Buf, no quedamos últimos de milagro. Yo creo que tendríamos que haberlo hecho con unas cuantas cervezas de más, en vez de estar comiendo patatas rellenas. En fin, fue divertido, pero no esperéis ganar.
Volveré a ir un día de actuación en directo, ya sea con unas cuantas cervezas de más o comiendo patatas rellenas (o ambas cosas).

Bar inglés, regentado por ingleses, en el que se habla inglés, se degusta comida y cerveza inglesa y es frecuentado por un alto porcentaje de… ¿adivináis? Ingleses, sí.
No diré que la decoración se asemeja a la de una típica taberna inglesa porque The Philharmonic es directamente una taberna inglesa en pleno Eixample barcelonés.
La especialidad de la casa es el roast beef, acompañado de potetoes and vegetables, aunque puedes degustar también hamburguesas completitias, patatas o salmón.
Si te acercas al Philharmonic en fin de semana tu cena será amenizada por jazz en directo y si prefieres acercarte un jueves, probablemente podrás jugar una partida de Trivial en inglés, previa apuesta, claro, que aquí todo es a la inglesa.
Otro dato curioso es que los lunes por la tarde, creo recordar que a partir de las 20:30, se organizan intercambios de idiomas, predominando el inglés y el castellano.
Huelga decir que en un bar inglés se pasan los partidos de fútbol, aun así lo resaltaré: tienen varias pantallas por las que siguen los partidos de la Champions, la liga inglesa y la española.
