Excellent food as usual. I went outside my norm and was pleasantly surprised. Yummy bubble tea as well

I come not to praise Veggie Heaven but to bury it. Your food was good, and I am sad to see your attempts to make campus a little less cruel replaced by another outlet pushing factory-farmed pig. And yet, Veggie Heaven, your service was slow and blasé, your servers hopelessly untrained, your restaurant cluttered and filthy, and at times it seemed as if you just didn’t care. Do you know what happens when you stop caring, Veggie Heaven? You go out of business, and we all have one fewer vegetarian option in town and have to go to Mother’s for the 1,400th time. That’s what happens. Good night, sweet mushroom monger, and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest. You were a store, take you for all in all; we shall not look upon your like again. UPDATE: Apparently, the owners retired and the business did not fail. In any case, I still think they had good food but were phoning in the whole operation at the end.

This place was one of favorite near UT. I am totally heartbroken when I went to this place yesterday only to find that this place is CLOSED since 22 Dec. 2014 after 16 years of service because the owners decided to retire. My husband is hardcore vegetarian, and this place was like messiah on days we didn’t bring lunch box to our work. We will miss you terribly.

I got #51, spicy chicken-like protein(was soybean). Overall, this is my experience: Pros: very fast service Cheap Easy for vegetarians/vegans to find something in the menu compatible with their diet Cons: Wait staff didn’t make an effort to be hospitable Waitress practically slammed check down on table Food was, well, bad. Too chewy, cold, meh Won’t go back. Good thing it was cheap.

Pros: You get your food very fast — less than a minute after we ordered. There’s no waiting for your check as they bring it out with your food. The rice is good Cons: The food came out a minute after we ordered it… The food was very hard to chew and not very good. My bubble tea tasted like cough syrup. Conclusion: the rice was good.. .

Tons of vegan/gluten free/vegetarian options. No meat, but the Protein 2000 is pretty hardy.

I have eaten at Veggie Heaven quite a few times and each time I tell myself I’m never coming back. Why you ask, do I eventually return? A friend insists, there is a groupon or there aren’t any other veggie places around. It is definitely NOT because they have amazing customer service or because the food is so delicious I crave it on the daily. . much less because it’s so clean I could eat off the table with no utensils. I have yet to get a smile from any of the ladies that wait on you. They always shoo you in and shoo you out without a simple ounce of gratitude or excitement. Many years ago one of them even threw the silverware wrapped in a napkin on our table and walked away. We walked away as well and didn’t return until this year. The service has gotten worse. The food is not to die for and there are plenty of other places to veg out.

I really really hope the chef’s hand slipped or something, because the noodles I ordered were extremely salty. As in, not fit for human consumption salty. Too oily also. Being one of those grungy Chinese places, I didn’t expect great service. I seated myself at a table, and the lady handed me my receipt while talking on the phone.

Roaches in the water! Found a roach in my water, after I drank half a cup. Told the waitress and she took the cup, said nothing then swiped the credit card. Last meal ever at VH

There’s a surprisingly large selection of vegan food in this quiet little restaurant on Guadalupe and the service is fast. The tangerine mushroom was on point and the coconut bubble tea I ordered with it, so refreshing! If I was staying here longer I’d definitely come back to try more of their menu.

I’ve been here multiple times and have really only had three or four dishes. I have always enjoyed the«Protein 2000» and«Open Sesame», but the food has been consistently inconsistent. I have never minded much though, given the close location to the UT campus and the otherwise lack of vegetarian/vegan food options during the school day. As a side note, do not expect particularly good service. Food is quick and you are in-and-out.

This… used to be one of my facorite places to eat, so much so that I reccomended it as often as seemed fitting. The food has long tasted fine to me, offering many vegetarian and vegan options. I eat meat, but minimally The service has NEVER been nice. If anything, they’ve consistently acted as though ot was a problem to stand up and do anything. The greeting have never been more than mechanical at best. I never really cared because I just wanted the meal I was looking forward to. Well, the last straw happened today. I ate, it was fine. I had Thai tea, it was fine. The service as usual was bland and unremarkable… and then, as I sat waiting a moment after payout… the ROACH. This wasn’t the ‘wanders in from outside’ kind, this was the small roach that loves dirty food areas. Upon seeing this, I remained calm but I started taking in mew review of the cleanliness or lack of around me. The window sills are grungy, the floor has dried stuck food particles, and really nothing looked like it had been cleaned with any real pride or attention in some time. Alas, this is my last visit. I shall not return. They blew it for me.

Very cute casual hole-in-the-wall kind of restaurant with friendly service and an amazing variety of Asian veggie options. I had the Taro Bowl which was sooo good. Chunks of taro, all kinds of veggies, tofu, & a really savory, flavorful sauce. I treated myself to a Thai Tea and it was bomb! I will definitely return next time I’m in Austin.

If you’re looking for cheap, decent and quick vegetarian food, then you’ve come to the right place. Scratch that: If you’re looking for cheap, decent, quick food, then you’ve come to the right place So I haven’t had pot stickers in forever, and they were certainly a favorite of mine back in the day. Of course when I saw they had a veggie(vegan) version, I had to order them. They were light, airy and delicious. I ordered the #38 Protein Nuggets(vegan) which had vegetable protein nuggets, broccoli, baby bok choy, cauliflower and carrots, etc. I was very excited about the vegetables which were cooked perfectly and delicious, while the nuggets were weird yet good, and again, light and airy. Portions were humongous! I could only eat half of my dinner. The interesting thing about VH is that they have just about every possible fake meat version offered, even veggie ham and veggie shrimp! Okay, I’ve never had those and I am not dying to try some fake meat. Well, maybe if someone dared me to. Prices are on the CHEAP! Nothing costs more than $ 8.00. The space is small and tables are quite close together with only one server for the dinner rush. I also noticed the hallway to the bathroom is very very skinny, so beware. Seriously, the skinniest hallway I’ve ever seen. If you must relieve yourself, don’t say I didn’t warn you that you might not fit. The most endearing thing about VH is that they give food and drinks to the poor and homeless people. Seriously, is that not the most charitable thing to do?! Talk about good karma! A place that caters to vegetarians AND they have bubble tea?! Now I know why they call it Veggie Heaven. Fact: They have vegan bubble tea!

Oh Veggie heaven. I could never be a Vegan but this place makes me want to try sometimes. I love the 5 stars! but there are so many choices. I go through phases of getting food from here up to 3 times a week and then going months without them but craving them. Like right now! They have a parking lot also so that helps with this area. Also, the prices are perfect! so cheap and fast. They server white or brown rice but I always just get white rice, their brown rice has peas in them, I’m not a big fan and anyways, I’m eating a bunch of veggies! I can splurge on the carbs. :) I like their curry buns also for when I’m REALLY hungry.

I absolutely loved Veggie Heaven. If you’re asking why, partner, well I’ll tell’ya! Pull up a rock and have a listen, it will be better than my terrible cliché of a Texas accent… I should hope. Veggie Heaven is located nearby the downtown area, and super close to the University — evidenced by the large amount of frat sweaters frequenting this and neighboring establishments. I got the«Protein 2000» per recommendation and steamed bun. The main dish was surprisingly good for how it looked… Presentation needs a little work, but I guess it all ends up the same anyway and I need to learn to check my NYC-snobbiness at JFK airport. The dish itself was tangy, full of flavor and in good portion for the cheap price. They also have /had a Unilocal Deal so I saved 2 $. The steamed bun was great, with portabello mushroom and other fixins’, and went great dipped into the sodium-rich sauce smothering the Protein 2000 dish. One thing that sets Veggie Heaven apart from the rest is that they constantly feed every homeless or poor person that walks in with rice and other stuff. They also have the option to use whatever sauces they want, and in fact have an entire cart set up just for them! This is a lovely idea, and made me really adore Veggie Heaven’s owners for doing this. Cant wait to return :)

This isn’t gourmet, but it sure hits the spot right for my college budget tummy right! I’m not a vegetarian, but my boyfriend is. It makes us happy that there’s about 40+ menu items to choose from, versus the usual one or two. What appeals at Veggie Heaven is that their menu is all vegetarian & asian, subbing real meat in with tofu or different veggies. It seems like most of their food is served stir fried style, which I’m okay with. Most dishes come with a scoop of rice served to you on a separate plate. I usually order fried eggplant in black bean sauce, and it tastes great! I’m biased towards black bean sauce, and it’s hard for me to stray from it when I see it on the menu. Portions here are big enough for one and half of a person, big enough to share, but not quite enough to make two people full. I would give VH4 stars, but their service leaves much to be desired. I’ve been here a few times, and each time it seems like they’re in a hurry to have us order, and to have us leave.

Got the number 1 item. Protein 2000… not impressed. The fried-ness of the soy meat whatever overpowered the bland soy taste for whatever reason. Texture wasn’t even. Brown rice had beans in it? 7 dollars for a few chunks of fried soy pieces, a half hand of broccoli, and a cup of rice. No sir, that was literally worth about 3.5 dollars, being generous on estimating was hot as hell inside the restaurant too. The one redeeming aspect was the«creamy teas», which were mad sweet and creamy… But. Literally 30 minutes later I felt like vomiting. Don’t know if it was the tea or the food… Needless to say, 3.5÷10, would not come back. Sorry, I don’t get the hype. Learn to cook up your own vegetables and NOT douse it in copious amounts of sauce.

I’ve been here like a million times. Love it. It’s one of my Austin standards. Here’s what you can expect: A lot of bang for your buck. Small, crowded restaurant. Food within 10 minutes. Leftovers. My favorite? The lucky 7. Spicy. For my meat loving friends, you’ll hardly miss it with as satisfying as these tofu balls are and filling and delicious. Never can go wrong with fried spring rolls. As for bubble tea, I prefer the thai tea without bubbles. Or the Taro-Coconut blend. TRYIT!

This Asian vegetarian(mostly vegan) restaurant was yummy. I really liked the fruit juice with bubbles(tapioca). The part I was unpleasantly surprised about was that it seems the protein item is always deep fried, never sautéed, and all the dishes we ordered turned out to be extremely sweet instead of the spicy advertised on the menu. I think that might be an Austin thing to over-sweeten. I encountered it many times in the 5 days I was there. I mostly liked my food, though.
