First it’s not my first or second time being here. I know the place will always and easily packed during weekends for dinner. When the restaurant is busy and people waiting outside, I understand that owner is very occupied both inside and outside. So, despite other groups of people complaining about the attitude of not being told either to get on the waiting list or told what to do. The food were good and that’s why the review is high and welcomed by lots of people. However, I just checked my credit card balance today and found out its really ridiculous that they charge the tip not what I wrote on the check. It is very rude and unreasonable! Please refer to the photo I attached. I gave 15% tip on my $ 31.77 meal, $ 36.17 in total. however, found out they charge me 18%of the meal, $ 38.12 at last. I’m not going back any more I think. The trust issue.

The place was packed when we go there to grab our pickup order and even then me and my friend had to dodge the waitresses that were trying to walk through us all the while never asking us if we needed help, eventually I assume the manager appeared as he eventually got us squared away. Wile we asked for spicy, what were given was definitely NOT5 spicy, and sadly more like a –2 spicy as I’ve had ketchup with more kick to it. The dish was a tad on the greasy side for my taste when it comes to pad thai and while it was okay pad thai it wasn’t anything I’d go out of my way to get for the price that they’re charging.

Came here because of the reviews… was not disappointed! The food was outstanding and the waitstaff was awesome! If you are in the area, I HIGHLY recommend coming here. You will not be disappointed!

I don’t think this place is worth the hype. It was good, and I would definitely go there again if another person wanted to, but probably not of my own volition. We had the Tom Yum and Tom Ka Soup, both of which were good. We also had the Chicken Pad Kee Mow, which was fine but definitely didn’t rank in my top five favorites, and Pad Kee Mow is usually how I gauge how much I love a place. The food was worth it at the lunch price, but I probably wouldn’t go for dinner. The décor was amazing, though! It was really beautiful and intricate and I enjoyed the atmosphere.

I’m from CA where we have incredible Thai food. This is a good second. Small interior but it’s fine.

I’ve been to this restaurant many times over the past year and a half. Initially the owner was very engaged with the quality control, staff and the customers but recently he seems to have given up on the place. Some recent issues I encountered 1. Food has lost its taste COMPLETELY. Especially the Pad Kee Mao and Panang Curry. Basil fried rice is mediocre. 2. Plates, utensils and glasses VERY dirty. One of my biggest peeves. The first plate I got had dried up rice or curry from a previous customer. DISGUSTING. I also found a very long strand of hair that did not belong to me in my food mixed with the noodles 3. The building hasn’t received a proper dusting in months. Every corner you look there are LAYERS of dust. I don’t expect squeaky clean but when j pull my chair out and dust falls from the light above me, it’s a problem 4. Staff is not friendly at all. Not much I can say here. Just an unfriendly service I would love to see the place go back to what it was. But my last 3 trips here have been terrible. I recommend Banana Leaf instead of this place. Hope the review has helped.

This place was recommended by a friend who loves Thai food and approved by a fellow Unilocaler. It is tucked away in a strip mall in Addison, and hard to see from the street. The place is fairly small with an island-themed décor… kind of cheesy. However, the food is great… especially their Pad Thai and Pad Kee Mow. Their spice level is not too intense, so I went with a 3 and it was just right for me. A downside is that the restaurant gets really crowded… and therefore, very loud. I also remember the service being alright, nothing exceptional.

I love Thai food and I love this place. Only reason why I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I haven’t tried enough to give them a 5. But what I’ve tried so far was delicious. I was craving papaya salad and pad Thai and they were both really good. Their Thai tea was amazing too. I asked for a 10 spicy level out of 5 I think it was and it wasn’t spicy for me. Keep in mind, I can handle a lot of spice. So if you’re like me, you might need to go higher than a 5 to get any sort of kick. The first time I came here, they had a local singer performing with her guitar and singing. It was pretty cool.

This restaurant seems wildly popular, but our experience here was nothing to write home about. We were hoping to find a new favorite based on reviews here and from some acquaintances. However, it does not make the short list. When we entered, we weren’t greeted very warmly. We called ahead to RSVP for a party of 6. They seemed to have«lost» the reservation and tried to cram us around the two small tables with a fake palm tree in the middle. Thankfully, another waitress then swapped us to another table without a tree dividing the party. Right after being seated, the line grew exponentially(incredibly busy for a Monday evening). Admittedly, the tiny restaurant was packed with a line crammed into the tinier entry area at the door(fire code?). Service seemed to go down here from there. We had to ask multiple times and multiple staff members to take our order. While waiting about 15 minutes to order, the line kept growing. An older man(the owner or manager?) seemed to grow more anxious and told a group in line he’d try to find a table. He approached us and asked if we really had a reservation — he seemed to think we were making it up or lying. When I pointed to the reservation notebook in his hand with our party’s name/size/time listed at the top, he muttered something under his breath and walked away. After staring down and asking 2 different waitresses, we were able to place our order(the first waitress literally rolled her eyes at us when we asked to order and walked away). When food started coming out for other tables around us for people who came after, we were a little concerned. Eventually food came out for half our group and the others came out about 10 minutes later. Always awkward trying to decide if you eat or let your food get cold while waiting for others to get their food. We had to beg one of the waitress for our checks(all while a long line was at the door). While waiting for our checks, the same older man asked if we’d paid yet because he needed the table. While continuing to wait for our checks, a nice looking lady at the table behind us asked for the manager to complain about the«poor» and«rude» service she received. The older man came to her and wasn’t very understanding. The customer was visibly annoyed. By the time we paid, the old man was having a nervous breakdown and using vulgar/explicit language. He slammed our checks on the table. We were all so confused and other tables around us seemed equally concerned. His behavior made several customers turn to look at him. I asked if everything was ok, but got a «this is too much, I can’t ‘f***ing’ take this» and a blunt«I just need your table. Needless to say, we rushed out. On the way out, I let people in line know what to expect and that the owner/manager appeared to be having a nervous breakdown. One of the people at the back of the line said she’d been noticing that during the 10 minutes she’d already been waiting in line. Suggestion to the owner: If you can’t expand or open another location, simply communicate with your customers(of which you seem to have too many). Be honest and let people know there will be a long wait up front instead of treating people rudely while they’re eating. It ruins appetites to feel rushed while eating. The people waiting can make a reservation for a later time or make an informed decision about whether or not they want to wait. Open, honest, and CALM communication goes a long way. We might try to go back for a late lunch or early dinner someday… But not anytime soon. The food was good, but the horrible service negatively impacted our opinion. I’d prefer to go to some place like Noodle Wave in the future.

I really enjoyed this place! It is really a hidden gem. I never would have known about this place. The place is really small but the portions are huge! The food was really good! We will definitely go back. I got the cup of Tom Yum soup and the Jungle Curry – both were excellent. My husband got the cup of Tom Kha and a noodle dish, Wild Chili. His was great as well. Our appetizer was the homemade Thai Star dumplings. There was so much food, we will have breakfast and lunch tomorrow.

Nice atmospher, good food and service. Happened to be in this part of town on business and sought a Thai Resturant. Good thing I referred to Unilocal because this location is hard to see if you don’t know about it. If you are in this area looking for Thai give it a try.

I love Thai and try to find good spots when I travel. In Dallas for a meeting and found Thai Star on Unilocal with great reviews. Place is packed at 1pm. Great energy among the customers. I had a table within two minutes, a drink order and drink in two more, and then I ordered on of my favorites: pad kee mao with beef medium hot. Soup was delivered and within five minute I had a lovely plate of pad kee mao. I was almost taken back because it came out so quickly, but its hot, fresh, perfectly spicy, and a nice portion, especially considering a lunch size. It was very tasty. I finished lunch with fried ice cream– pretty darn good. A short walk from the Crowne Plaza, this place is a great find.

This is my go-to spot in Addison! The restaurant is located in the way back of a strip mall and there never really seems to be that much business in the area. The décor is really cute and they have a lot of Thai-themed objects, art, and tapestries hanging around. The food is really good and they have a good beer selection. 5 level spiciness wasn’t spicy at all. My only issue is that the curry portions are off. Most of it was the soup with only a couple of pieces of chicken and vegetables.

This place has always been a long time favorite of mine. Located in the back corner of a strip mall that runs perpendicular to Midway, it is a hidden gem. The place is small, with only about 15 tables inside, but on nice days or evenings you can sit at one of the few tables outside. The food is pretty authentic and usually consistently good. My absolute favorites are the vegetable spring rolls and the eight angels. Another fave is the Thai Star Yum Big Soup.

Excellent fresh food, strong beer selection, very attentive and friendly service, good atmosphere. This place is really terrific, easily the best thai food I’ve had in Dallas, if not the US. Came here with a party of 5 around 7pm on a Tuesday and they were packed with people eating in and picking up carryout. We had a beer in the outdoor seating and by the time we finished there was a table ready. Service was quick and helpful without being pushy. The menu has all the thai staples with some of their own custom creations. The portion and value is great. The other reviews/ratings really say it all — this place is a home run. Will definitely be back for that massaman curry and to try some of the other dishes. Appetizers: Chicken Satay — great flavor and great dipping sauces(peanut and a sweet cucumber sauce) Thai start homemade dumpling — these are a must get. Mixture of shrimp and pork with a great ponzu-ish dipping sauce Fresh Avacoda and crab roll — this was the only dish that didn’t blow me away, but it was still good. You can’t beat how light, yet satisfying fresh rolls are Entrees: Massaman Curry — soooo good. Massman is my favorite curry and these people make it the best i’ve ever had. I can tell they use real coconut milk(some places use half and half because its cheaper) which makes a huge difference and the flavor and spice is spot on. Jungle Curry — a lighter(non-coconut based) curry with great flavor and a great mix of vegetables Pad Thai — You can’t have a strong thai restaurant without good pad thai and these people have not disappointed — very good flavor. Pad See Ew — Very tasty noodle dish in a brown sauce that is a little sweet. Dessert: Thai Kai– fried pastry with coconut ice cream, mango sorbet and coconut cream — generous portion easily shared. This was really impressive. We split it 5 ways and it was the perfect amount where you can try and enjoy without feeling guilty.

My FAVORITE thai place in all of Dallas. Also the first place I tried it! Quaint interior and great food/portion sizes. Inside/service: I’ve been here at least a dozen times and even when there is a wait it goes by quick(get here before 12 for lunch and 6 for dinner). The service is always pretty quick and kind! The interior is right but quaint and very decorative. Food: lunch special is the way to go. It comes with soup or salad(their hot and sour soup is the best!), spring roll and an entrée. My favorite is their panang curry, pad Thai, or the crispy spicy beef!

I thought I had already found the best Thai restaurant in Dallas, but Thai Star definitely gives them a run for their money. Absolutely delicious. I came here for lunch today and it was just perfect. The restaurant is small but very cute and eclectic. They have great service and a nice ambiance. They have a section on their menu for lunch specials which are priced well and include a soup or salad and an egg roll. The soup was good and had the perfect amount of spice/sweetness. For my meal I ordered the Panang Curry with brown rice and tofu. It was hands down one of the better ones I’ve ever had. I ordered it spicy level three and the waiter warned me that it would be more of a 4 – 4.5 because of their sauce, however it was perfect and in my opinion just how a 3 usually tastes. The rice was cooked perfectly and the meal came with a wonton chip. The curry itself was phenomenal and I ate every last bite. The flavor was rich and creamy with the perfect level of spice. I was very happy with my experience here and will definitely be back! Just wonderful!

Sometimes we stumble upon gems by accident… and this is exactly what happened to me in this case. I was looking to have lunch at nearby Loving Hut, but when I arrived, I realized that it was closed on that day! :( Sitting in the parking lot, looking for a nearby option, I stumbled upon reviews for Thai Star. Wow, I’m a huge Thai food fan, and according to the reviews on Unilocal, this spot seems pretty legit. I decided to go check it out! If you’re riding on Midway, be sure to keep an eye out for the sign. It’s located near the back of one of the buildings, so it’s kind of hard to locate from the main street. They have a nice outdoor seating arrangement with a nice Thai décor. Once inside, it was a nice size, but I can imagine when it gets crowded it could get a little tight. I was starving that day, so I ordered the vegetable dumplings and some pad thai. The dumplings were close to perfection! So hot, the filling was seasoned perfectly with the perfect texture. The dipping sauce flavor married with the flavor of the dumpling with perfection! Next… the main dish! The pad Thai was also perfection! Noodles done nicely… tofu cooked perfectly. This is the way that I want my pad Thai to taste all of the time!!! The food, the service, the surroundings… all perfection! I bet it could get pretty crowded during their peak hours, so keep that in mind when you go(even though they do have a lot of seating outside as well). Great spot!
