We finally got a chance to check out Chef Donny’s new place, and I am so glad! We had the Brussels sprouts and meatball appetizers — both were absolutely killer. My boyfriend and I shared the Confit Duck pizza. And wow. Just awesome. The crust was thin and just the right level of crispy, and all the toppings were done just right. Service was great, and the local beer list made it easy to find something tasty. I’ve always been a fan of Donny’s, and this place does not disappoint. We’ll definitely be back!

Sadly our 2nd trip was not as good as the first one. Our party of 5 opened the place up on Sunday at 11pm so it was not crowded. We ordered 4 pizzas and one sandwich. They all came out at different times and the sandwich was the last to come about 10 minutes after the first pizza arrived. I got the pulled pork pizza. It was pretty average with about 3 inches of crust showing. This is a lot of naked bread for a 10 inch pizza. The rustica pizza was probably the best one of all. The pepperoni pizza was fairly decent. All were just mediocre at best. The tea was sorely lacking in ice and we had to ask for refills. Our server was probably one of the dryest no personality people I have had the displeasure of meeting. She may not be able to help her personality but she could certainly have shown a degree of hospitality. The fried«green» tomatoes were not green at all… just under ripe red ones. They were not nearly as good as the first time about a month ago. Again I say sadly because I doubt we will go back. There are much better and cheaper places to eat and our expectation for a great neighborhood eatery has sort of been squelched.

Was looking forward to my first visit to Tanglewood Pizza Company. Unfortunately, left extremely disappointed. Not sure exactly who to blame other than the manager on duty and the bartender. The very nice waitress served us an average pizza(scorched edges which is somewhat expected at this type of place). Enjoyed a couple of their beers on draft so ordered a growler. When our bill came we were charged with an extra beer. No biggie — just let the waitress know who advised she would get it straightened out. A few minutes later the manager approached our table and asked what the situation was. While he was polite he advised the bartender told him we had been charged correctly. We told him a mistake had been made. He continued to argue we were wrong. Finally, we told him to do what he had to do. He dropped the charge but made us feel like we were stealing from him. To make up for their imaginary beer, the bartender only filled the growler ¾ full. Nice touch. You guys win! Will not be going back.

Good pizza, bad wait staff, either poor training or care less atitude. We ordered the duck pizza which still had bones in it, no one seemed to care of the possible choke hazard. We waited 15 minutes before the young man handling our section stopped by, had no problems with the young women seated after us. We may go back.

Went for lunch and it was just great. They have a great selection of beers and the food we ordered was really good. The wings were excellent. They aren’t saucy — they are oven roasted so have a really nice crunch to them. Very meaty. The chef served them with a homemade sauce alongside that he said was roasted pablanos and jalapenos with a little brown sugar and then pureed. I could eat that on toast. I ordered the pizza with goat cheese, pine nuts, prosciutto, fig jam and caramelized onions. It was nice to have some interesting options. The crust was crunchy and browned in spots, but not black or overcooked. The combination of the sweet, salty and savory was divine. All their pizzas are 12″, so too big for one person, but possibly not enough for two to make a meal off of. The wings and a pizza were a perfect lunch combination for my husband and I and we even took home two slices of pizza. They have four of five tv’s, nicely placed, so we were able to watch the Wake Forest game while we ate. They do offer takeout, but no delivery. They don’t have a phone, so for takeout, one must come to the restaurant and order and wait while its being prepared. I hope they change this in the future. A pizza, wings, and two beers was $ 36, so its a little pricy for lunch, but a nice splurge as its not your run-of-the-mill pizza restaurant. We will definitely go back to watch games and have appetizers and try some more beers, and also to try dinner.

Too overpriced to take children. We stopped in for lunch today. All children’s entrees were $ 7. Our child received three chicken fingers and a plate full of curly fries. Both items tasted ok, but my guess is both were from frozen and not freshly hand breaded or hand cut as I think they should be for the price. The drink was not included either so add another $ 2 for each child. I got the wood fired Southern pizza. The greens on my pizza and roasted red peppers were yummy as was the jalapeño bacon. I think a bit more bacon would have been even better as not every slice had bacon on it. The sauce was good and the crust was crispy. I brought home three slices so it is enough to share. My husband got the DC Cuban. It was flavorful, but there was too much of the mustard. Their house made pickles had a great flavor and were thickly sliced. TPC’s offered a variety of beers with some nice NC selections. But again, pricey! At the end of the meal we were presented with a total instead of a bill to check over. I was sure to check the paper copy after we paid. It was just odd to not be able to check beforehand. I don’t think they saved any time or paper doing it this way so I am not sure why this practice is in place. I hope these guys can tweak things a bit to improve. The potential is there. I would love to see the restaurant stick around.

Beautifully remodeled! Love the atmosphere. Great selections of beer, if you like that sort of thing. We were there Sunday after church, our first visit. Hunter promptly greater us with a smile, she’s adorable. Drinks were promptly served. I love the high top tables! Then I looked at the pizza prices, a little steep for a 12 inch pizza, my first thoughts. $ 11 – 15 with around 6⁄7 varieties to choose from. I also ordered a side salad with Caesar dressing. Caesar dressing was very thick, like blue cheese, and VERY heavy on the anchovies(yes, Caesar is supposed to have anchovies) but this dressing was EXTREMELY fishy. So I asked the server to bring me ranch instead, no problem. Was a nice and colorful side salad. Then our pizza came and I was surprised that it was a little larger than 12 inches! …but the toppings were scarce. The crust was VERY salty, I actually overheard another gentleman telling his server that the crust was too salty, he didn’t even eat his! I thought it was just me, but no. Then our server came to discuss the bill… What chaos! Instead of just telling me what I owed(no paper bill to review, all done on tablets) she went over my order and it was wrong, twice. We eventually just handed her our card and hoped for the best. $ 46(after tax) for 2 pizzas, 1 side salad, 2 soft drinks and a Parmesan chicken sandwich. Will return here for a late night date night with the hubs, but not overly impressed with the food… yet! Will definitely give them another chance being that they JUST opened!

Pretty solid pizza place, glad to see this open up in Advance. The salads were fresh, our table had the wedge and house salads. Pizza and Sandwiches were tasty as well, in particular the TPC Pizza. They had a healthy selection of beers on tap, and all the menu items were around $ 10. Need more places like this in the area

Excellent! That’s how my first visit to TPC was. I say first because little do they know, they have new regular. From the friendly welcome by the hostess, to the fantastic beers on tap, the simple fresh menu options, friendly comfortable environment, warm and customer centric staff, this place makes a five star review easy! I don’t have kiddos but if I did I’d totally love the kids area with a small table and toys to keep them occupied. The manager came by and asked how we were doing and we mentioned how thrilled we were with meatballs and she surprised us by bringing Chef Donny over to say hello. This is a far departure from the previous tenant but I LOVE it! Be ready for a small wait, it’s totally worth it though! Just grab a beer from the bar and prepare to be blown away!

This place is a great addition to the Advance community! Attentive staff, I believe they filled up my water every time it hit the halfway mark. Yummy fresh ingredients. Love the farm to table concept — way to support the local community! I had the salmon salad, delicious! My father had the TPC pizza, flavorful and simple. I wish they could make any pizza gluten-free rather than just cheese and pepperoni, but that’s alright. The beer on tap is a great selection and I will definitely be coming back!

The fresh approach of «farm to table» is excellent at Tanglewood Pizza Company. Made from scratch salad dressings, house specialty pizzas prepared in a brick oven, and desserts. Our family enjoyed the«community table» although there is comfortable booth seating options, outdoor dining, and bar seating to watch the televised games and news headlines. Our server Hannah was attentive to the children’s needs, refills, and special requests. The owners and managers also made sure everything was a positive dining experience.
