Located at the Pearl Kai strip mall, Alyssandra’s Lumpia Express is a quaint Filipino establishment with a café vibe and limited outdoor only seating. I ordered a combination plate of chicken adobo and pork guisantes – two classic Filipino dishes by which I judge Filipino eateries by. The plate came with white rice. After being handed my plate, I was welcomed with a delicate and familiar fragrance of adobo sauce with a hint of sweet red bell pepper. With that scent, I can tell their adobo – chicken adobo – will be joyfully devoured and enjoyed. The chicken was fork tender and the sauce is milder in vinegar than other Filipino restaurants, which I very much welcomed with rice. Their pork guisantes, however, did not stand up to the chicken adobo’s flavor. Although the ratio of strips of pork to carrots and peas were significant, the sauce did not have that fruity tomato I craved. I do commend their consideration of meat to veggies ratio for their customers, but the result was a slightly greasy sauce. I wish they degreased the sauce by freezing overnight and scraping the fat off. There are other items on their menu, but I think I found my go-to place for chicken adobo… if they are ever open during times convenient to me.

When I go to my gym at Powerhouse the struggle is real on trying to get out of the parking lot without stopping in here. IT’S SOGOOD! I’m in love with their Shanghai lumpia and pancit. It really is great. My daughter is an extremely picky eater so the pork adobo she wasn’t about to try, but that little turkey ate all my lumpia. She never even tried lumpia before and all I got was 1 the first time we came. I had to place another order. We ordered a different pork this last time with smaller chunks of meat. I can’t remember which one it is(picture is listed) but it was way better for us than the adobo. Loved it. Pancit though is the way to go. I had amazing pancit in Guam this summer and the lady at my gym said this is the best place on island for lumpia and pancit. She was right. It’s located in the big parking lot across the street from the mall. If you are facing powerhouse gym it’s the strip mall on the right. It is a ordering window. I would of missed it if I wasn’t told about it by the lady at the gym. I’m glad I didn’t!
