Nabe. It is the food of the revered Sumo. Filling, delicious, and honorable, it will warm you up with its wholesome ingredients. This place is similar to a hotpot joint, but not. The interior is sophisticated, with both western booths and Japanese style floor seating. The nabe sets include meats and veggies which are all brought out to you. Happy hour starts at 9, and it gets busy, so make a reservation if you can. We chose the spicy shoyu broth(Pirikara). It is a clear broth, barely spicy, ever so slightly sweet, and it’s so delicious I don’t think I ever want to try anything else. We ordered the Happy Hour nabe set which came with chicken, beef, cabbage, mushrooms, and meatballs. The meatballs come on a stick. Don’t make the mistake of dumping the whole bamboo stick in there… ask for directions :) I’ve been back twice, and I will probably be back at least once a month from here on out. I like the happy hour prices, and you can just taste the good quality of the food.

My new gathering place for my monthly get together with my friends! I love it! The staff is super friendly and service is great! We usually go after 9pm since we’re so busy and they offer a late night menu for a good price.

Ichiriki has been a multiple-visit review in the making. Overall, it’s a little pricey for me. It’s an average of $ 20/person for your own personal hot pot, which is more than you hopefully spend on dindinz every night. You don’t have the flexibility to choose your add-ons like other hot pot places(Sweet Home, Nabeya Maido) but instead must choose a set combo, which has a mix of meat and the same vegetables that to my knowledge have never changed. Idk, it just seems a little uninspired for that price. However, their broth is very tasty. I would avoid the angry goma, not because of spice but just weird flavoring. The tomato broth is basically dipping your meats/veggies in tomato soup, so only get that if you are in the mood. The service is okay, but somehow there is always a crazy long wait time so be prepared. I like that they are good for small and large groups, and generally the food comes out quickly.

When the food so good you only had time to take a picture afterwards. Pork belly shabu shabu. Mushroom melody. Spicy tuna wrap. Prikara broth. Service is always good. Tonight we had Kirstin. Definitely call ahead for reservations. Prime times are always busy. But reservations are pretty on time.

** Correction: Ichiriki does have an off-menu veggie only plate for $ 9.99 at lunch__ Ichiriki, why did I not find you sooner? ;) Probably one of the best I’ve had, next to my Bay Area nabe or shabu places. Service was well-timed and friendly. We weren’t rushed either. Be sure to make reservations and look out for their 3 Happy Hours: 11am-230pm 4−6pm 9pm-close At $ 17.95 for the Niku Nabe and 4 add on plates total of extra mushrooms and udon, two people were stuffed. Niku comes with everything in the photo and a bowl of rice. Zosui or the juk at the end with your broth was delicious. I recommend the shio spicy broth – very tasty and not too spicy at all. Use that egg and nori! They provided extra spoons and chopsticks to help cook and scoop food out. Quality of ingredients is very good and clean. The only thing I’ll point out is the veggie folks like me need to eat around the meat stuffs. There isn’t a dedicated veggie only set plate but I still managed to walk out full and happy. –super happy customer

Love love love it here!!! :) It’s a bit costly but it really depends on what you get and how much you eat: p my boyfriend and I eat A LOT so we go during happy hour!!! Lots of appetizers are cheaper and I atleast $ 20 less than usual, big difference! Hint: *Niku Nabe is a big and good for 2 if you wanna save money and instead of getting 2 sets. it has dif types of meats included. Servers are always welcoming, smiling, and just overall sweet! The only thing is they don’t really check on you once you have everything you order until you’re done eating or when they ask if you want dessert. The area is always clean and spacious. Tables are kinda close to the others but it doesn’t bother me. And I have yet to try and sit in the area where you have to remove your footwear, I guess bc it’s usually just me and another person, never in a group hehe. Def recommend this place for good shabu shabu! –Fave apps are pork kimchi(must try!!!), avocado maguro, chicken karaage. –Fave broths are angry goma(spicy), paitan, and pirikara. –Fave meat sets are Niku nabe, pork belly, short rib change. –Fave sides are extra enoki, Beef balls, and tsukune!

I’ve heard so much about this restaurant from friends and family who have tried and raved about it so we decided to give it a try. 345 pm on a Sunday so I decided to call just to see if we needed reservations since we aren’t too familiar with the place. The gentleman who answered said that they were pretty slow but he could take a reservation for the 3 of us so I just went ahead and reserved for 430 pm since we live right in Mililani. I asked of they offered any Happy Hour and yes they do from 4 – 6. Perfect! We got there around 415 walked in and low and behold silence… Haha it really was pretty slow. We got sat right away in one of the enclosed booths in the middle. We sat there for about 10 minutes with noone stopping by to offer any beverages or to explain the Happy Hour to us, already a no no. Finally a server stopped by and greeted us and apologized for us not being greeted earlier. He answered our questions about the Happy Hour which was great. Nabe was $ 16.99(chicken, beef, veggies and choice of broth) included one small bowl of rice and small bowl of noodles. Appetizers ranged from $ 2– $ 5 or $ 6 Beers(Heineken Light preferably) $ 2.50! Score! We ordered Happy Hour Nabe item including some Appetizers like Karaage chicken, garlic shrimp and spicy tuna wrap and of course some beers. The Appetizers was okay, it wasn’t anything to be thrilled about. The shrimp reminded me of honey walnut shrimp taste and consistency which was weird because I was expecting garlic shrimp. Karaage chicken was okay and the spicy tuna was kinda Stange, we were expecting chuck style but it came out like a paste which kind of threw us off but we ate it none the less. We ended up ordering 2 more bowls of rice and an additional bowl of noodle just because what it came with wasn’t enough at all. We’ve eaten at a hotpot style place before and was basing the experience from those to this. For the price you pay I think Ichiriki can work on the interior alot more and maybe change up the Appetizers a bit. The service was excellent despite not being greeted righy away and we left a nice tip for him. Im not sure how I feel about coming back, my other half would not return but I would give it another shot. Hot Pot Heaven in Mccully is great and prices are reasonable compared to Ichiriki. HH Nabe HH Shrimp app. HH spicy tuna app. HH karaage chicken app. HH beers X bowl rices and noodles Brownie dessert $ 65.00 total for Happy Hour(I can imagine on non happy hour)

I’ve had this place bookmarked for a while now. The first time I went, the were packed and didn’t have space for me for several hours, so I just left. Months later I finally called to make a reservation and got a seat. I had the ribeye chanko, mainly because I’ve never heard of it, and I’ve had shabu-shabu before. It was different, but the way their burners and lots are set up, I just felt cramped on the table. The food tastes just alright to me. Nothing I should’ve waited months for.

This review is long overdue. My family and I absolutely love this place. We’ve gone through phases where we’d eat here once a week(yes, we are obsessed!) Its pretty funny because when we leave, the servers would be like, «see you next week!» They are great. I strongly recommend reservations. They get so busy, I would make reservations to get peace of mind. And to know that I won’t be waiting too long to get my hot pot fix :) I also definitely recommend to come during happy hour. My family and I order a ton of appetizers, so its really nice to save a couple bucks on those. For appetizers, we always get the chicken karaage, calamari, garlic shrimp, tofu salad, spicy ahi and avocado maguro. For our meal, all of us always get the rib eye chanko shabu shabu with the pirikara broth. The nabe sets are cool if you like variety which includes a piece of chicken, sausage, salmon, shrimp and tsukune. But we are meat lovers so the rib eye chanko shabu shabu omits those extra pieces of other meats and make it strictly rib eye. We order the tsukune on the side since its not included. The pirikara broth is to die for! I can literally eat just the broth all day. Service is top notch. Everyone, I mean everyone is so friendly. They always greet you when you walk in and you are always thanked when walking out. They are all so tentative and quick. We have never had a problem with the service taking too long or a server lacking customer service. This is my favorite hot pot joint on the island! I don’t think I could ever get tired of this place!

Yes I’m a fan! I love Yakiniku places and Shabu Shabu and this place definitely has my attention. I had the beef combo and vegetables in their standard broth and it was really good. I wanted to go for the Curry broth but that’ll wait till next time. If you haven’t been there, I would recommend it. Great for parties and any get together.

We are regulars! –Hence the 5 stars. I prefer this location over the Piikoi one for obvious reasons: PARKING, SPACE. The food at either location is the same, yummy! FOOD: I almost always get the PIRIKARA with a side of GOMADIPPINGSAUCE. I’ll most definitely get the happy hour special which is usually beef, pork and chicken. Or I’ll get the RIBEYE or SHORTRIBCHANKO. Never a disappointment on taste or portion. Always leave happy. Happy hour is always a plus! Almost the entire appetizer menu is on there and at HALFPRICE! My faves are: Mushroom Medley, Spicy Wrap, Ahi pokè, Chicken and Calamari Karaage and French Fries. The rest is just aight. For starch, you get the standard rice or brown(up charge $ 1) and choice of ramen, udon or zosui! Mmmm! SERVICE: Consistently superb, will stop by often, top off drinks, top off broth, pick up used dishes… PARKING: Lots at this location. Self Parking. PLUS: You can do traditional Japanese seating with a large group with up to 40 on an almost continuous table!

If you’re into soups and stews, this place is for you. I’m a mushroom and soup fiend so I absolutely loved this place! I started with the mushroom appetizer, a mix of enoki, shiitake, and eryngi mushrooms sautéed in butter and garnished with green onions. For me it was ambrosial! I almost love mushrooms as much as I love chocolate… almost. My dogs name is Enoki; this should indicate my love of mushrooms! I also had the ahi katsu. I expected more because the fried ahi at Kazoku is excellent and I felt like this place was on the same level. Skip it. It’s chewy and the portions are a bit too big for just one bite. I feel like when you bite into ahi, it should be like biting into a banana, easy and soft. Onto the nabe itself. We ordered the angry gome nabe and of course, the mushroom nabe. Both did not disappoint. The mushroom nabe had a more than adequate mix of enoki, eryngi, shiitake, shimeji, as well as one huge king oyster mushroom that gave the broth a somewhat sweet and meaty flavor. The tsunkine(meatball mixture) was scrumptious, full of fat that gave it juiciness and flavor. The angry gome had a good level of heat without overwhelming the flavors of the other foods. Oh, and other than my beloved mushrooms, there was a good mix of bok Choy, tofu, sausage, onions, and kuzuriki as well. Service was excellent as well. Our server was good about explaining things to us as far as how long to cook each item. She even gave me a quickie tutorial on hiragana translation as I totally read the Japanese menu wrong! It’s a bit pricey, but the ambience is nice. There aren’t too many places I’m aware of where you sit at tatamis. For some reason, my daughter gets so excited about that!

We love this restaurant. Great for lunch or dinner, the dinner portions are actually a bit bigger. You get a shrimp and some fish as well as the meats you ordered. I love the pirikara broth(spicy garlic) and the tsukune are delightful. Whenever I go with friends during lunch we all get our own and I usually get the chicken chanko. My husband and I decided to split the ribeye chanko today adding some extra Kalbi, tsukune, kuzukiri and enoki. They will refill your broth while eating so don’t feel like you have to be stingy on drinking it. You can also substitute the tofu out for more enoki. I’m obsessed with the green tea ice cream and warm mochi. My husband isn’t a fan but that’s because he’s weird and only likes green tea to be in tea form. Sooooo recommend it! They take reservations and it’s recommended especially during dinner and the weekends. Our friends called in to make reservations and they were booked, but then they stopped in while running errands and were able to make a reservation in person. A bit weird. We’ve also never been rushed like precious reviewers seem to have a problem with. We’ve also only once came without a reservation so I don’t know if that has something to do with it.

It’s been a while, but the girls are baaaaaack! Late night happy hour is always a favorite time for my friends and I to meet up over yummy food. The happy hour specials here begin at 9:00PM and run until close. Lots of appetizers on happy hour(ex: Chicken karaage $ 4, Spicy ahi wrap $ 5) and drinks are discounted as well. Shochu is only $ 7 for the PARTYSIZE! Let’s just say, when the girls have dinner, it’s always a party, but this enhances the experience! I tried the tomato broth for the first time, and to my surprise it was very flavorful. The broth had a nice kick in the background. I ordered the Nikku Nabe which on happy hour, was priced at $ 17.95. This set included the standard veggies, tofu, chicken, chanko, and beef. I tend to get carried away with ordering, and during happy hour my bill quickly adds up to a normal priced meal! The service was pretty good. She was helpful in explaining what Zosui was(which can be added to your meal instead of ramen or udon). She even helped prepare the Zosui(rice porridge) at the end of the meal. Overall Ichiriki is great if you’re in the mood for DIY hotpot/nabe. Be sure to order the Ichiriki Ice Cream for dessert!

A friend always stops by for the HH nabe so we decided to try it. He recommended the mushroom medley so we got that in addition to the nabe and ahi katsu. We should’ve gotten two mushroom medleys instead of the ahi katsu. We shared a nabe with the ichiriki base(shoyu) and added the zosui. The meats were good — especially the chicken and tsukube. The zosui/congee at the end was awesome. It was still a bit chilly when we visited Oahu so the warm congee was very welcome. Service was so friendly and great(but I mean, this is Oahu — everyone is nice).

I’ve been here many times and I’ve had the best service and food. But something seemed different tonight… Like literally, after we sat, our waitress took our order and after that she was long gone. Another male gave us our food and she probably dropped only our broth off to our table. PLUS, I don’t know what the heck management is doing but ALL of the associates were TALKINGABOUTWHATTHEYWEREGOINGTODOTHENEXTNIGHT. Right in front of us were the associates talking about random things not catering to our table. The worst part is you can hear AND see management mingling with the associates. I’ve never got my water filled ATALL, until I was done with my meal. ALSO, we ordered the Zosui for the end of our meal and I tested them to see if they’d remember but still charge us… ANDLOWANDBEHOLDTHEYSTILLCHARGEDUS. Making it known, I’ve asked them to remove it… Food was always good and still is, but she also failed to tell us their beef balls were out when she was taking our order, ANDSTILLCHARGEDUSTOO… leaving us waiting for them… so you know what? I didn’t let her know that she still charged us for the beef balls, instead that was her tip. SOLDOUTBEEFBALLS. I never want to end a review on a bad note so here’s some extra details: Parking — lots of parking but might get a bit busy on the weekends due to the other restaurants in the area. They take reservations but not for happy hours. I recommend their tomato base broth. Also their Fried shrimp, ahi wraps, & Kim Chee pork appetizers are good. Other than that, I don’t think I’ll be coming here for a while unless a friend insists.

Fantastic place for Japanese hot pot! Very authentic Japanese décor. A lot of wooden furniture and paintings that line the walls. What really excited me was the way that seating works out. You take your shoes off and get into a little seating area that seems as if you are sitting on your legs like«authentic» Japanese tables but you actually get to sit down :) The food and menu is very broad but good. Appetizer I recommend it the poke and tofu salad. The soups are all also very tasty, I like to go for a more spicy soup but any works out fine. The bundles for choices of meat have a good variety so it’s good to make anyone happy. Service is awesome as well. Always full water offers on whether we need anything . Recommend this place to anyone !

Location: Ichiriki is located in a shopping center that is right across Pearl Ridge, on the back side. It’s near places like Makino Chaya and Phở My Lien. Availability: My friend said it’s good call in and reserve a spot or else you can wait up to 2 hours so they did just that. Happy Hour Times: 11:00 am to 2:30 pm, 4:00 to 6:00 pm, and 9:00 pm to close. Happy Hour Tip: During their happy hours, they have Early Bird Specials(appetizers are like $ 2 off their original prices!) They also have the Niku set which comes with all the vegetables, but it has more meat in for only $ 17.95! Customer Service: Excellent, our water was always checking on us and even gave us free ice cream because he felt bad that my friend couldn’t get her favorite ice cream. I would definitely come back again because our waiter was so awesome! Food Review: 1) Appetizers: –Mushroom Medley($ 4 Early Bird Special, $ 6 Original Price): They had a variety of mushrooms like enoki and Bunashimeji which was garnished in a shoyu sauce. It was very tasty when it’s hot, but not when it’s cold so eat it up when it comes! I would rate this 4⁄5 stars. –Spicy Ahi Wrap($ 5-$ 6, I forgot the price, sorry!): It was basically dish of Spicy Ahi with nori on the side so you can make a wrap yourself. The ahi was premium cut and the taste was between mild and slightly spicy so it wasn’t that bad. Both of my friends enjoyed it. I would rate this 4⁄5 stars. 2) Main Entrée: When ordering you, choose the 1) the type of pot(regular or one that has this coffee filter which makes it more purer), 2) the broth, 3) your nabe set or shabu shabu set, 4) your choice of noodles(udon or ramen) or Zosui which is like jook(Chinese rice porridge) . I choose a regular pot and share with a friend(they had a divider that separated both of our broths). Then I got the Ichiriki broth(Shoyu broth) with a USDA Short rib eyes Nabe set that came with enoki mushroom, chanko(ground meat, for me it was ground beef which you use to make meat balls!), green onions, short rib eyes, napa cabbage, «glass» noodles(clear noodles), salmon, shrimp, and a shittake mushroom which I gave to a friend since my fillings still hurts. I also got ramen noodles at the end with bean sprouts in and was so full. Even though my set costed about $ 22, it was worth it. I really enjoyed my broth and all the food in it. It really helped me warm up and feel like I was in Japan. The awesome seating helped contribute to it too. I can’t explain how it was, but it looked like a traditional small table; yet, you could place your feet on the ground and you had to remove your foot wear. Overall it was a 5⁄5 star meal! 3) Dessert: –Green Tea Shave Ice with vanilla ice cream(It costs $ 1 more for ice cream) [I forgot the price, my friend actually paid for it]. What was surprising about this dessert was the ice cream was inside the green tea shave ice. Around the shave ice was small plain mochi balls which were sweet and so good! I really enjoyed this dessert and would rate it 4⁄5 stars! Overall, I would definitely come back again. I had such an amazing first time and would come again. They have a special sweepstakes going on, if you spend over $ 50, you get a free raffle that’s either a $ 10 gift card or a trip for 2 to Tokyo so it’s good to go to Ichiriki, I promise you won’t be disappointed.

My family used to frequent the Piikoi location before they opened this one, and ever since this location opened I have frequented here, sometimes multiple times in one week. I can never get tired of eating Nabe or Shabu Shabu and I can’t believe I have never written a review! By the 5 star rating, you could guess that I only have wonderful things to say :) ATMOSPHERE: It has a very Japanese feel which I appreciate considering my ethnic background. They seem to keep the restaurant very clean and tidy which is always a plus! I appreciate all the hard work that I’m sure goes into cleaning up at the end of the day~ FOOD: As I mentioned above, I never get tired of eating Nabe and Shabu Shabu, so of course I think the food is great here. I don’t really get appetizers here, but some of my friends are in love with the kimchi pork!(I think that’s what it’s called, my apologies if I got that wrong). I usually always get the same thing every time I come here, and they have changed their menu a few times that I’m not sure what it’s called anymore! But I used to order it as the«Ichiriki nabe with beef.» Basically the broth is a shoyu broth and it has mostly beef along with the vegetables, salmon, chicken, tsukune, etc. You can never go wrong with it! But they do have many other options available for broths as well as what you are putting into your broth. I’ve also tried the pirikara(spicy) and curry broths. Sometimes I get the Kobe beef or pork, especially if the Kobe beef is on happy hour! My boyfriend got the seafood nabe option once and it looked amazing! Shabu Shabu is traditionally boiled in water and comes with goma sauce and ponzu with grated daikon and negi. I love the sauces so much that I often ask for it on the side even if I’m getting nabe.(Sorry for being one of «those» customers lol). I usually get ramen to finish with, but they also offer udon or zousui :) For the desserts, I usually get warabi mochi with vanilla ice cream, but the shave ice is also great here! It’s a very generous portion though, so I would suggest sharing it.(I’m such a foodie… so I clearly have so much to say about the food!) SERVICE: I love the service here! I’ve only had one bad experience here with the service, but I haven’t seen that server since then so maybe she no longer works there? Kirstin, Jordan, and Jordan,(there’s two of them lol) are all excellent! You are in great hands if you have any of them :) There are a few other workers who I’ve seen almost every time I come to eat but I don’t know their names :(Regardless, they are all so kind, helpful and attentive~! As a server myself, I understand how challenging it can be at times, so I just wanted to say that I sincerely appreciate all of the hard work and excellent customer service from the employees here :) Thank you! I wish I had more time to come and dine-in ever since I moved jobs. OTHERCOMMENTS/TIPS: I would suggest to make a reservation if you plan to come during weekend nights, or just busy times in general, OR if you are coming in a large party! If you find yourself having to wait for a seat, you can always go next door to Chez for a drink! :) Sometimes during the busy times it can be difficult to find parking in the upper parking lot, so if you don’t mind the short walk, I would park downstairs! They do have happy hours here… I believe it’s from 4 – 6 and then 9-closing? Or something around there… It’s a pretty good deal if you ask me! Again, if any of the employees happen to read this, thank you so much for the wonderful experience every time I come to eat!

We had to wait about 10 – 15 mins at 1:45 pm today even though it wasn’t too busy, Not sure if they were short handed or not. My issue is not with the service because they did a great job. My issue is with their nickel and diming everything like ponzu sauce for .50 cents! Really?! Then a Coke with no refills in a cup that was filled with ice and there was no way a full can filled that glass. Then the topper was that with gifts cards you can’t add tip!!! It’s not like we used coupons they are gift cards purchased with cash! The service was very good and it’s a shame that they have to be the bearer of bad news to the customers. The food was ok but I had better quality meat and free ponzu sauce at Shabu Shabu House. Stop nickel and diming your customers Ichiriki!!! Won’t be back anytime soon except to finish using my GC!!!

I’ve been here many of times so say that this is my all time favorite hot pot place on the island. However, on this particular visit the service was probably the worst me and my friends have ever experienced. We made reservations just to be sure we had a table. We got seated right away when we arrived. Our server first took our order for drinks, which were all waters and our appetizers. Then about 20 minutes later she finally came back to take our meal orders. 20 minutes? That’s ridiculous. I noticed the table next to us got seated just a few moments before us and I knew our server was managing that table too. As always we got our broth first then our meals to follow. However… I was almost halfway done eating my meal and we still hadn’t received our rice! I was a little upset and disappointed because I know I’ve had better service here than that night. I didn’t let it bother me because I know no matter what I will return to eat here. I would have given three stars, maybe two, for just this visit but all the other times I have been here made up for that.

Be your own cook without having to prepare anything! You can do just that at Ichiriki Nabe. No awkward silence at the table since you’re too busy cooking your food! :) Been to the Piikoi and this location before(Westridge in Aiea). PARKING: Come early as this restaurant shares a lot with handful of other restaurants! Happy Hour = full tummies and happy wallets. Kobe Beef Chanko($ 17.95): Kobe beef with rice, choice of ramen or udon, and a classic broth. Upgrade for $ 2 to premium broths. This platter comes with 1 shrimp, 1 piece of salmon, 1 small piece of chicken, veggies, 2 sausages. Very filling and shareable if you order lots of appetizers. I’ve tried quite a few appetizers(with my favorite listed first): 1) Calamari Kaarage($ 4): Favorite! If you’ve had PF Chang’s, it’s similar! 2) Spicy Tuna Wrap($ 5): Cute, make-your-own sushi roll! Doesn’t come with rice! 3) Garlic Shrimp($ 5.50): Can’t go wrong with a battered, garlic, shrimp! 4) Ahi Katsu($ 5.50): 4 pieces of somewhat tasty ahi and tonkatsu sauce 5) Pork Kimchee($ 5.50): I didn’t eat this but looked exactly like pork. and kimchee. 6) Chicken Karaage($ 4): I didn’t eat chicken… If you don’t like all the options from the Kobe Beef Chanko, I recommend getting the Shortrib Shabu Shabu($ 18.95). All meat! Yum, my favorite! Catch? Gotta have a minimum of 2 orders. It’s a lot of food — okay, it was a lot for me.(I wanna say the shabu shabu portion is almost equivalent to a plate lunch, maybe more: serving of rice bowl + noodles, meat, veggies) My belly was about to pop(and I didn’t even eat all of it). Portion size for an appetizer is on the smaller side though. If you want a stronger and saltier base, you can try the Paitan. It tasted good but I still like the tradition Ichiriki(Shoyu) base. The curry base literally makes everything taste like curry(the flavor isn’t subtle). Spicy Shoyu isn’t really that spicy at all… If celebrating a birthday, they give free dessert of choice!(And they make YOU sing Happy Birthday so awfully and awkwardly.) Service was and pretty much is always great. Very friendly and checked up constantly to keep tea, water filled. Our waiter seemed so energetic and happy! Would come back again, and again, and again. Some booths require you to remove your shoes! So don’t forget! FYI, they have Happy Hour Shabu Shabu(Kobe Beef 5 oz. for $ 17.95) but it’s only limited quantities available. So, be aware that they may have run out if you go late in the Happy Hour!

Located on the second level of a business building across from Anna Millers on Kaonohi. Parking is with the lot, but it shares with all the other businesses in the building so it gets packed during peak hours of lunch and dinner. There’s overflow parking but you’ll have to enter from the old Kam Drive Inn. Japanese style hot pot, cook at your own table. It’s enjoyable for a date or group of adults. Basically, it’s hot pot. At your table. That you cook yourself. So not ideal for kids. There are choices of broth, then your food that can be ordered in sets. Choices are meats with veggies. But if you’re vegan, there are very limited choice. There are also options to order more meat. The sets also comes with rice, and at the end, you have a choice of finishing off your meal with either saimin noodles, udon noodles, or rice with egg. I believe there non hot pot choices, but I haven’t explored those options. The food is good, but it can be forgettable. For appetizers, I’ve tried the ahi tar tar — my fav! Pork kim chee — it was more kim chee than pork. I did enjoy the pork or is it beef? The ahi avocado poke — I’m ok with it. Everyone has their own taste, try everything and see what you like! My friend lights up for the strawberry shave ice. It’s basically shaved ice with strawberry flavor. I haven’t tried it, but from the looks of him, it seems like it’s a winner. My favorite is the green tea ice cream with azuki beans and mochi balls. Winner! If you really want to eat here, make sure you make reservations. I have gone without, but it was late night. There are early and late night happy hour specials. The staff is all friendly, but it’s not really fast. Japanese style dinning, there are regular seating booths and there are also floor style tables, but there are leg room like chairs. I do like that it is in Aiea and we don’t need to drive into town for kind of late night dining. I’m not a fan of going out to eat to cook my own food. If that was the case, I’ll just cook at home for half the price, but it’s about spending quality time with my friends.

Today is… November 11, 2015(Veterans day) So no sh** there I was, knuckle deep in my scuba gear not knowing what to do with my day off. My buddy came over and we started talking about places to eat. First we were thinking about going somewhere that would put us into artery clotting coma(pleb sh**) we ended up going back and forth trying to come to an agreement on where we would finally decide to eat. We ended up passing out from hunger pains. Then finally it was mentioned to go to hot pot! And of course ichiriki came up as the place to go. Coming in we were greeted and promptly seated(we had reservations, highly recommended to avoid waiting.) I ordered the kimchi pork appetizer which is a must if you come here. Also ordered for appetizers were the Avocado Maguro and the Calamari Karaage. All of them delicious but I would go with the the pork kimchi if you need help deciding. Also a must is the large sake, $ 4 for a large! Really good for the price, but then again I am an alcoholic. For our meal I chose to get the pirikara(not as spicy as I would have liked) for my broth. I will definitely be trying the Angry Goma next time. For the set we chose to go with the shortrib chanko(more then enough to split between two people. If you don’t mind giving up some stuff to who ever you are sharing with. I.e. 1 piece of shrimp, chicken and salmon.) All in all our meal turned out great and our server was nice and put up with us. TL;DR great place to come if you are looking to get away from the normal pleb life. Reasonably priced. Sad they didn’t have the green tea mochi. 4 stars for excellent atmosphere, service and food.

My advice is to call for reservations! Usually, my boyfriend & I can never decide what to eat until we’re parked in front of a place. The two times we’ve eaten here it was about an hour wait to get sat. I’m not deducting any stars from that because food & service are always up to par. We’ve gotten the tuna wrap, mushroom medley, and ahi poke for appetizers all which were so yummy! Now, the broth that we like is the ichiriki one. Something about the taste of the soup is so delicious! And for our meat we do the ribeye and he usually gets ramen & I usually get udon for the noodles. It’s a lot of food & you can count on being full and content by the end of your meal. The servers are so good at checking up on us & refilling drinks, that’s never a problem. If ever we crave shabu shabu, this will be our go-to!

Ate here last night. We got there 5 minutes before it opened and the doors were opened but they turned us away. I thought that was a little rude. So we went for a drink and came back. When we came in they told us that we had to eat and be finished within a certain time. I thought that was absurd. Our waiter was ok. The food was my first for trying it. It was good. The only reason why I’m giving 2 stars. Maybe I’ll give them another shot

I have never been a big fan of Ichiriki but my wife really likes them. That is until today(10/25/2015). At our last visit to Ichiriki for dinner, we were given a small, sealed blank manila envelope and verbally instructed to bring it in on our next visit and only the manager could open it. Note: the envelope was blank. Apparently there is some type of promotional that ends in the month of October. I would assume the envelope contained some sort of discount, prize, etc. My wife was excited about this promotional for weeks and planned a Sunday luncheon with her lady friends in as much time prior to today. After their meal my wife gave the waiter the still sealed blank envelope. The waiter returned and told her it would only work for dinner. She was super pissed… er, extremely upset… because it was never explained that dinner was a requirement of the promotional — only that it would need to be brought in by the end of October and only the manager could open the envelope. Again, the envelope was blank. My wife’s friends are pretty savvy types and they were pissed/upset too. As an aside, I really like them too so I’m sad that this envelope issue messed up their luncheon. The sadder thing is that my wife never did find out what the promotional was. I can’t say that I always have a bad dining experience at Ichiriki. However, I have consistently found the supervisory/management types at both restaurants(Aiea and town) very smug. For this reason, I would choose to take my business elsewhere — and, smug management is a one-way ticket to 1 star. I have to say that it’s pretty messed up about this entire blank promotional envelope incident. And by the way, no management came to explain or take responsibility for it. I have been doing my best to end my reviews with a positive. Here’s 2 of them: 1. At least now I get to tell my wife«I told you so» about Ichiriki. 2. I hope that ramen place that my wife likes and I don’t has this same type of promotional so we can cross that place off her list too… hehheh. Sometimes you just need a cheeseburger. But I’m not going to try to sell my wife on that just yet.

Best nabe on the island! Whether it’s with friends, family, or date night, this is my go-to place for nabe. I love the late night happy hour because I can never ate the full serving of the combination nabes by myself. It’s the perfect amount especially for late dinners with friends or after the boyfriend gets off work. I love that you can now pick your own soup base and combos! I love the Ichiriki soup base the most for the late night menu! It has a very distinct taste that I like! You just need to trust me and try it! My family loves the curry soup base. It has a strong curry flavor and it’s a little spicy but not overpowering. My parents love getting the curry base not only because it has great flavor but they love getting the risotto(instead of noodles) at the end! You get a little show from your waiter as he/she prepares it for you! I encourage you to try it at least once! It’s interesting to see how risotto is made and it tastes great! I’m pretty sure you can also get risotto with the tomato soup base as well. All this talking about the yummy food makes me crave it! I must come more often!

My only gripe about this place is their nabe sets are pretty pricy! Easily $ 50+ for two. You definitely get a more than decent amount of food but it’s too little to share one set and wayyyy too much to eat on your own(I guess maybe a starving guy could eat it all). You could take your left overs to go, but most likely not because it won’t be the same. I wish they had their happy hour menu or some other type of smaller portion as an option for those who don’t want allll that food. I’ll definitely be back soon since my boyfriend loves this place!

One of my favorite restaurants and styles of food! Whenever I get the chance to pick where my girlfriend and I will eat I have to fight the urge to yell«Ichiriki!» Nabe is very similar to Shabu Shabu, but instead of a plainer broth and dipping sauces you get to choose the flavor of your cooking broth. I usually choose the«Pirikara» which has a good spice to it, while not being overpowering. You also get to choose your set of meats(beef choices, chicken, pork, and seafood options), comes with a plate of vegetables and tsukune(Japanese meatballs). There is usually a wait at the usual busy times like lunch and dinner. Believe me though it’s so worth it! The happy hour menu is a good start to a night out with friends, beers are good quality Japanese choices and are available in huge mugs. The service is always friendly and checks in often to refill waters and take other orders when needed. You can be sure everything is nice and clean when you’re eating the delicious food as well. Unless another quality nabe place opens around here I will be enjoying Ichiriki for years and years to come. Happy eating!

Hands down my favorite causal dining restaurant on the island! I can go here everyday of the week for lunch, dinner & late night happy hour. T The best deals are during lunch from 11 – 3& from 9-close. The nabe sets are cheaper than regular dinner. Since they are cheaper they don’t come with salmon, arabiki sausage, chicken, shrimp & your choice of udon or ramen. I get the Ichiriki nabe with the short rib which always fills me up. To add some extra flavor to your food you can order the goma(sesame seed) or the ponzu(citrus) sauces which are used as dipping sauces. I go at least once a week for the late night happy hour. I go so often that the workers know me & my friends. Be prepared to get a little smelly, I always tie my hair up so I don’t smell like my food. I recommend making reservations just so that you’re guaranteed a table & you don’t need to wait. I’m not a fan of waiting, especially when it comes to food! The staff does an amazing job making sure that you’re well taken care of & they are able to help you if it’s your first time dining there!

Now the basic steps for Ichiriki: Step 1 — Choose your pot(metal pot or paper pot) Step 2 — Choose your broth(about 13 to choose from) Step 3 — Choose your set(about 12 to choose from) Step 4 — Choose your noodles(ramen or udon) Overall I really like coming here because the staff is always good and so is the food.

I love love love Ichiriki for a number of reasons. One, it’s close to home and I don’t have to drive to town to enjoy the hot pot experience. Two, parking is a non issue. Three, they serve a five ounce Kobe steak special. Last but not least is a repeat of number one, it’s close to home so when my belly come full I’m close to home and a nap! Our house guest left to go back to the mainland today so dropped them off at 11:00AM and drove back to Westridge, parked right smack in front of the doors and in we went for lunch. I’ve tried the Pork Belly, the Short Rib and the Sliced Pork previously. Today it was the Kobe beef. Off the charts good! OMG the Kobe beef was absolutly the best of all. I like the Ichiriki broth, they serve it with a plate of the normal veggies and tofu including two sauces, your choice of noodles and a bowl of rice. The Kobe Beef was sliced paper thin and beautifully marbled. The first taste did not hit the broth but I ate it raw and cold. Just lingering in my mouth and melting into a blissful bite of happy! After grossing out the rest of the crew I dipped the rest for two seconds, just enough to start to melt that marbled fat and take the chill off. Heathens! They have a decent selection of appetizers and some good deserts, the Warabi ice cream is my fav, but I had a late breakfast so just had the nabe. Can’t wait to come back again, it will be soon!
