Koa Pancake House

Good breakfast spot. Ordered the loco moco with a side order Fried rice. Both was pretty good. Prices are reasonable and food comes out quick. It sometimes gets a little packed and no seats are available.

Koa Pancakes is a mom + pops joint located in Aeia; near Aeia Bowl, right above Times supermarket and right next to McDonalds.
There are good breakfast choices and food are reasonably priced. Although, the food is nothing special, this is my go to place for quick and real breakfast (McDonalds and other fast food is not real enough food to me). Koa Pancakes spear have just pancakes, they also have other breakfast foods you could think of; such as rice+omelettes+sausage+spam+bacon/Canadian bacon, etc etc etc.
Customer service is okay. They will bring your food to you while the condiments are readily available on the table. In addition, a self-​serve water station is available in the front, near the cashier.
For fast real breakfast in Aeia, come to Koa!

Loved this place for the short while that I lived here. There’s plenty of pancake places in Oahu, such as Boots & Kimo’s, Cinnamon’s, Yogurstory, etc. But I was at the Swap meet in Aiea and this was close by and I didn’t feel like driving all the way to Kaneohe or into town to those other places. This is a small place, but that doesn’t mean that their quality of food is low. I got a full order of macadamia nut pancakes, and lo and behold as I was getting napkins, I saw that they carried sugar-​free syrup here!!! That totally surprised me, because only Denny’s and IHOP carried them back on the mainland, but a little pancake house in O’ahu! No way! I was so happy, haha. Oh the simple things that make me happy and smile. The pancakes were oh so fluffy and hot and delicious, especially with my sugar free syrup =)
The way you order is up at the counter, then you go find a table/​seat, then when your order is ready, they will bring it to you. The prices are decent, and the food gets you full. They have early morning specials and lunch specials as well. But I’ll only come here for their pancakes. Oh man, now I wish I want some… I should just move back to O’ahu, I need a tan already and some macadamia pancakes.

Located on the second level of Aiea Shopping Center same level as McDonalds. Good comfort food, they serve breakfast and lunch. Breakfast is what I always go for! It gets pretty crowded in the morning. Service is meh! I think some are really not morning people! But the food is always consistent.
Pancakes are good but not special.
They don’t always cook the eggs as you order them over medium is often over easy.
Bacon is a good portion and always cooked well.
Kalbi is yummy
Benedict is also decent
Prices are reasonable
But no brown rice option. The lady at the counter asked me if I meant fried rice! I guess their brown rice is fried rice! Lol!

LOVE THEIR COMBO! This place is cheap and fast! Love getting their eggs bacon and chocolate chip pancakes! They give a lot of food too! I always enjoy coming here to eat whether it is for breakfast or for lunch! Me and my boyfriend come here to get a quick bite to eat before starting our day!

First time eating here! Normally I love chocolate chip pancakes but I noticed they made red velvet pancakes so I decided to try that instead. The red velvet pancake is pretty good but I am not a big fan of it. My mom got the spinach, mushroom and cheese omelet and she wasn’t a big fan of it either. Good service though! Might be coming back but probably at a closer location for me.

Loved it! It’s a local dig that serves great food at an affordable price. Although it’s small and get crowded quickly, the service is quick and efficient.
The food was delicious. I had pecan pancakes, sausage links cheesy eggs, and corned beef hash. Well-​cooked and quickly delivered.
Highly recommend if in the area.

This location is no different from any of the other Koa Pancake outlets, they have good, reasonably priced fare and they prepare nice and quickly. My family eats here almost every weekend, and I will say this location tends to be less busy than the moanaloa location (near the NEX).
I really like their corn beef hash and chocolate chip pancakes, but everything is well prepared. I deducted a star because every time I order the loco moco with corn beef hash at this location they mess it up and make normal loco moco (with hamburger). This has happened at least 4 times and it gets old. They do bring you a side of corn beef hash once the error is pointed out but it’s not the same (ha ha).
The other reason I deducted a star is because their soda is nasty. I drink diet soda like it’s going out of style and am somewhat of a fountain soda connoisseur. I blame this mistake directly on the fact that their soda dispenser isn’t clean — urgh — or they are using some cleaner that just doesn’t mesh with the machine. This is pretty much a constant at Koa locations but the moanaloa location seems to be better, probably due to a higher turnover.

We’ve been to this location several times and always ordered the eggs Benedict. It was my favorite until they ruined that for us just recently.

This is a small, highly recommended place that gets crowded very quickly. Came here on a Monday morning and narrowly missed the very long line. Pretty basic breakfast food with plenty of options and a very reasonable price, especially considering the typical price of stuff in HI.
No complaints about the food, but the people working there were pretty unfriendly — very much in a rush to get people through when it wasn’t really that big of a deal.

First time making a take out order. must say they were very fast. Live close by and my order was ready when I walked in. I ordered a Loco moco and it was one of the best I’ve ever had… love the gravy. Husband ordered their Koa omelet with side of cornbeef hash. He was very satisfied. They don’t skimp… it was filled with lots of Portuguese sausage, mushrooms and spinach with cheese. Hash was cooked good… but wished they used brisket in their hash (canned).
Overall I like eating in here… and always had a good experience in the past.

Eh… Not what we were expecting when they claim to be best pancake house on the island… Everything tasted pretty bland… Sausage was undercooked–
Nothing special about the pancakes or waffles–
We tend to make them better in our kitchen at home. If you are looking for a quick meal with quick service and don’t care about quality of your food– you can get a lot for fairly cheap.

I have mixed feelings about Koa Pancake House. Despite the name «pancake house», their pancakes are just okay. I make better pancakes with Bisquick at home.
This restaurant has a wide variety of breakfast menu items. They have omelettes, meat and egg combos, eggs benedicts, fried rice and a few plate lunch options.
You place an order with the cashiers who don’t seem too happy to be there, have a seat and they will bring your food to you.
There are quite a number of tables, but this place is a little busy, so I usually grab a table while my other half orders. Most of the time, the tables are clean, sometimes sticky or there is food under the table lingering from a previous customer.
So why do I come here? It’s two minutes from my house. I prefer to go to the original pancake house in Kalihi where the flapjacks are out of this world.
The prices here are decent, but this is not my favorite pancake joint.

Reasonable prices and so many selections for breakfast!
There were like 5 ladies working at the front (which to me was a little odd) but they were all very nice.
I ordered the corn beef hash and macadamia nut pancakes. To be honest, I think the OG pancake house is better. The corn beef hash wasn’t crispy the way I like and the macadamia nuts weren’t consistent in texture (some were harder than the other). But the pancake itself was more fluffy!
One of the nice ladies even brings the food to you if you’re eating there. Wasn’t sure if I was supposed to return the condiments to the front, but I did anyway out of courtesy. Make sure to clean up after yourself!
Anyway, I’d recommend for anyone to try this place if they’re looking for a local breakfast spot with plenty of selections and good prices.
The parking can be a disaster though so just a heads up.

Nice little pancake house. Very clean. The ladies that are working are nice. My husband and I had a late brunch here. He got a tall stack of banana pancakes (5 pancakes) and I got the short stack of chocolate chip pancakes (3 pancakes). We also got an order of potatoes and pork link sausage to share. After eating we realized that we got way more food then we could eat. My husband has a healthy appetite and we agreed he would have been plenty full with the short stack. I couldn’t even finish half of my pancakes. They are large pancakes.
We were disappointed with the potatoes though. They didn’t seem like the outside was properly scrubbed but, the inside was cooked well enough. We won’t get them again.
The sausage links were good. They were the traditional links that you would think of. Perfect amount for splitting!
Overall, we would go back. Large portions for a reasonable price. And it’s a cozy little pancake house.

Great place if you’re craving breakfast type of food. They have pretty much everything. Pancakes, waffles, omelets, benedicts, etc.
The staff are friendly. The lady even brought our food out to our table.
I had the eggs benedict with fried rice. Super delicious! You could also get it with regular white rice or potatoes. I’ve tried the eggs benedict from Koa’s in Kapolei but the one here is honestly so much more tasty.
I will definitely come back to eat here if I’m in the area :-)

I can always count on Koa’s to satisfy my breakfast cravings (and at a decent price, too)
First off, when it comes to breakfast, eggs and rice are my staple. Koa’s perfectly cooks their eggs and rice.
I don’t like going to a restaurant and being served rice that is either too mushy or too hard, or eggs that are… the same way, actually :(
Koa’s has very good Portuguese sausage and pancakes, too :)
I think they’re hollandaise sauce could be better, but ehh: p

I looovvveeeee this place. Their prices are really good and so is the food. They have a lot of local breakfast and brunch options, as well as some of the classics.
I always make sure to order a red velvet pancake with my breakfast. Yummy!
Everyone that works here is super friendly and the service is always fast.

Sunday Morning rain is falling…
Well, the weather was Hawaii perfection (sunny with blue skies), but the «rain» may have been the tears I was shedding as I left this place.
A friend and I were looking for a place for breakfast that was near and convenient. Since time was of the essence, we wanted go somewhere that wasn’t too crowded (we nixed the idea of Anna Miller’s right away), but a place that was a step (or so we thought) above McDonald’s. Enter Koa Pancake House.
Located on mid-​level of Aiea Shopping Center, there was ample parking available when we stopped by for breakfast on a recent Sunday Morning. Seating is plentiful indoors, while there are some tables outside as well (though I think they don’t belong to this business specifically but are tables for Aiea Shopping Center patrons).
The breakfast menu is extensive and I decided on the portuguese sausage with eggs and pototoes, while my friend chose the corned beef has with eggs with the fried rice upgrade.
The VERDICT: It was barely ok. The Portuguese sausage and eggs were just alright, but the potatoes were dry and bland. My friend didn’t finish his food. He claimed the corned beef must have been from a can, while the fried rice was «not good» at all. Needless to say, we won’t be back.
NOTE: Funny thing about this place was that it was extremely crowded when we were leaving.
BOTTOM LINE: Once was enough. I’ll be at McDonald’s on Sunday mornings for the time being.

Order the Red Velvet Pancakes!!! They are amazing, fluffy, and confection-​ly delicious! We went 2 mornings in a row and I couldn’t stray from them!
I did try the mac nut pancajes, but wasn’t as happy. but it might be because I got 1 mac nut and 1 red velvet… so it never stood a chance!
Their omelets are fluffy and offer a variety of ingredients.
Get excited about breakfast!
