BJ’s vs Sam’s Club You can get everything you need at the right price without coupons at Sam’s Club vs. BJ’s Wholesale club. BJ’s on average is about 10% more expensive than Sam’s Club. You will get a wider variety of selections here at BJ’s but the packaging and its size will be different compared to Sam’s Club. This warehouse has everything you need definitely, lighting is a bit too dimmed for a warehouse. If you go 5 minutes away, you’ll get to Sam’s Club where you’ll see more people and also fresher produce!

Went to BJ’s yesterday because I got a 120 day free membership coupon in the mail. Went with hubby to the customer service desk to discuss membership and the friendly employee behind the counter explained that if we got a membership, they would take $ 10 off the original price of $ 50 and they would give us a 16 month membership instead of 12 months. We decided to walk around the store before deciding on whether or not to go ahead and get the membership. We wanted to make sure it would be worth our money. We grabbed a cart and walked around. Now, I realize that you have to do a little homework so you can compare prices before getting anything at a bulk store like this because you don’t want to think you’re getting a great price because you’re buying in bulk. We saw many things that were probably not a good deal but also many items that were great deals. We threw some things in our cart like bulk packages of batteries, garbage bags, packs of bottled water, and some grocery items. After walking around and using the calculator on my phone to divide prices with wieghts and measures against an ACME receipt I had in my wallet, the prices we saw were cheaper. The thing you have to keep in mind though is whether or not you can use up the product before it expires. It’s excellent for personal hygiene products and cleaning supplies. Not so great for food. I don’t think the two of us can eat a bulk size amount of anything before it goes bad; however, I wouldn’t be opposed to buying bulk meat, portioning it out at home, and tossing it in the freezer. So, after looking around for 30 minutes, we returned to the customer service counter and bought the membership. The guy who gave us our membership cards also gave us a $ 50 gift card as a thank you for joining. Wasn’t expecting that! Awesome! So, I think the membership will pay for itself very quickly. Also, we can now use their gas station and save a few pennies. Overall, I like BJ’s so far. I have no idea how I will feel about it after being a member for several months, I’ll come back and do an update later. In comparison to Sam’s Club(which I have been a member of in the past) BJ’s is better. Friendly, helpful staff and a clean store. Very pleased so far.

This place is clean and neat. The restrooms are great. So I bet you’re wondering why only 2 stars. While the staff was friendly, I saw 3 in the WHOLE place. I’m kinda fed up with Sam’s Club and there is no Costco around. The next choice was BJ’s. I was promptly greeted at the door and directed to customer service. I was greeted and helped and was allowed to tour the store. For a yearly fee that is more expensive than Sam’s Club, I got a lot of choices that were also MORE expensive or the SAME as Sam’s Club. More variety in processed food, but a WHOLELOTLESS in terms of what’s fresh. I could only find 1 refridgerated isle for lettuce, carrots and tomatoes. I found cukes and garlic. I instantly missed the bins of apples and fresh fruit from Sam’s Club. Everything at BJ’s is boxed, canned, jarred or wrapped in plastic. NOWAY am I becoming a member here. I’d rather spend more at a local grocery store.
