Lizardville Beer Store & Whiskey Bar

This place is the bomb for whiskey fans. I sampled a few very difficult to find single malt scotches and bourbons, then stumbled back to my hotel. There’s not really any ambience to speak of, but the service was great and the bar keeps very knowledgable. I also had a burger, which was nothing special but definitely passable. I’ll be back for sure

Terrible place. There are three different bars, all serving different beer, and you can’t order from a different bar. Dumb.
On top of that, they say they have 800 bets to choose from. Really?! Why? And who cares. There’s such a concept as ‘too many’, and they’ve hit it. Stupid.
They claim their whiskey bar is special and separate from winking lizard, but yet they use winking lizard’s menu. Inconsistent.
It’s basically overpriced Applebee’s food, with a run down feel. I especially loved having a drunk chick become confrontational with us while we ate and the bartenders didn’t care. Glad I (over)paid to almost get into a fight. Plus, I’ve never had to show my ID to get on a waiting list, while kids are running and screaming around looking at their terrarium.
Not worth it. Somehow a dive bar become a franchise. Don’t go, seek elsewhere. Or pay to eat out of a trash can at another restaurant; it’ll be cheaper and at least you can expect to fight a drunk rat.
If you are from out of town, this restaurant is the reason Ohio is a fly over state.

Best whiskey selection I’ve found in Ohio. Equally important, the bar staff are extremely knowledgable and very very nice. Great people! Great booze!

First thing is first, if you’re an avid drinker of Bud Light then don’t come here unless you’re feeling adventurous!
I love to come here and catch up with friends and having a few appetizers with some delicious craft beers isn’t too bad either. The staff knows exactly what they’re talking about when it comes to the liquor or beer, and that is extremely helpful because there is a HUGE selection! It’s not terribly overwhelming though, there’s signs listed on the top so you can head straight to the quench you need that night (Yes, some of the prices are high but if you’re used to craft beers and top shelf liquors, then you won’t be shocked!).
Right now I am obsessed with cuvée (sour beers) so I know this is just the spot where I can get a good suggestion and try one that I like.
Everyone has always been very friendly and that’s probably why I keep coming back!
So please, please if you are a lover of the finer beers and whiskeys then come to Lizardville! You won’t be disappointed.

Came here on a recent trip and wasn’t expecting much to be honest.
Located in a strip mall-​ish area I figured this place would be like a Friday’s with overpriced mediocre cocktails and cheesy staff.
TOTAL opposite. The group I was with sat at the bar and were greeted right away by the friendly bartenders. There were beer displays and a back bar FULL of more whiskey’s than I knew existed.
They had barrel aged cocktails which were awesome and flavors I have never tasted!
Totally impressed with their Sour Ale selection and the helpful bartender. I think his name was Casey… who laid down his Sour Ale knowledge on me and made incredible recommendations. We left with 3 bottles, and loved them all!

If there’s a whiskey I want to try before buying, I know exactly where to go. They have pretty much any whiskey worth mentioning and serve them at reasonable prices. And lets not forget their wide variety of bottled craft beer and their new beers on draft.
It’s always a unique dining experience here and I love it! Service is ALWAYS kind, courteous, knowledgeable, and eager to aide in any questions you might conjure up.

Great staff, friendly and knowledgeable. Over 800 beers to choose from so even if you’re not a beer connoisseur you’ll find something tasty. Also have 200+ whiskeys. Love the fact that it’s 21 and up– no exceptions. Menu is smaller than Winking Lizard but still have salads, pizzas and burgers. Also can get seasonal items there.

«Whiskey for my men beer for my horses» great concept very unique whomever came up with this theme was most likely drinking whiskey. I like it great opportunity to see if you are a whiskey drinker. If you have sometime to kill don’t get caught up in all the serious interpretations of what this place is about go and get an education the professor is in!

I’ve been to the Lizardville a handful of times now and I can agree with the statement of other reviewers in that the staff is very knowledgeable about the beer but they are boarder line stuckup about it and that the service is very spotty at times. The beers are also pretty expensive, usually everything on the draft list is $ 4 or more but I usually go for the bottled beers which are slightly cheaper and offer more a variation in styles. I really want to like this place because it is new, they do have a great beer and whiskey selection, the food is decent bar food (I really like the pretzel and their boneless wings with goldfinger sauce) and it does have a relaxed atmosphere in that you find a table yourself, can pick your beers and put them in the «chiller» and you can smoke cigars outside. I’ll probably go back in the future sometime since it’s close to my house and has a good beer selection, but I’d rather go somewhere else where it is a little cheaper per drink, there’s better service and I don’t feel like I’m getting talked down to when discussing styles of beer.

Service is kind of spotty. Food is just OK. Several times, I’ve noticed after leaving that I was overcharged by a couple of bucks. Like charging for a full glass of beer vs. a sample size. May not be intentional, but it happens often enough that I wonder if they are instructed to do it, figuring someone’s not going to notice $ 2 – 3 overcharge. They don’t always give you an itemized receipt when they present the bill, which I find very irritating. They do have a great selection of beer, and usually a pretty good draft selection.

I would have loved to actually try this place and was looking forward to it. Unfortunately they have some obnoxious rule. My wife and I tried to take my niece out for her 15^th birthday but were denied service because we were not her legal guardians and she was not 18. I am 27 years old and would have never expected to have a problem taking my niece out for dinner. An embarrassment to the establishment if you ask me, and I decided not to give it another shot.

You go to Lizardville for three reasons: 1. Whiskey 2. Beer 3. No kids (and I say that as a parent who LOVES his kids!) They’ve got a great whiskey selection, from Rye’s to Bourbon’s to Scotch (and the Scotch selection ranges from mild to smokey and complex). On the beer side, the selection is great. Most are bottled, and they’ll chill them and then serve you. Their draught selections change almost daily. Other Lizardville’s have a wider menu selection; this one share most of the menu with Winking Lizard. Another commenter complained about the staff — my impression is the exact opposite: friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to serve. Overall, this is a great place to meet up with some friends and relax.

Lizardville impresses me on several levels. It could have been a drastic failure, but the Winking Lizard franchise has managed to pull it off with a degree of class that I honestly didn’t expect from a company with a lizard for a logo.
The «Whiskey Techs» are knowledgeable and more than happy to educate. I know a fair amount about whiskey in general, but they definitely know a lot more, and it’s exceptionally nice to have someone that understands my preferences and can make solid recommendations to me without hesitation. Their whiskey options are extensive and so are their on-​tap craft beers. Never mind the beer corner that has more options than I’d probably ever get through. And the flights of whiskey are surprisingly well-​designed.
Bar fare is the usual Winking Lizard fare, so it is decent enough. The wings are always a good choice as well as their burgers.
The area itself is quite nice, very much as a man-​cave type feel to it with lots of dark wood and whiskey logos all over the bar. Not cluttered, but definitely cave-​ish. Highly recommend it for a first date or just a night out with the ladies/​gents.

Awful, Awful service. Snobby for no reason. Remember where you are. Bunch of dudes and chicks who act like they went to beer and liquor college. Get a grip y’all. Half the staff looks like the leftover cast of Human Centipede. I’m tired of this place. I wish they would have never merged the kick ass lizard on ghent with this place. Makes this seed so sad.
Sad Seed–

I’m a huge fan of Lizardville in Bedford Hts, so I was excited that a location was opening up closer to me. Unfortunately, its not the same experience. They only have a couple of the menu items from the original 2 Lizardvilles (at least they have the giant pretzels). What really disappointed me was that I’m fairly sure they substituted whiskey selections on the whiskey flight I ordered. I get it frequently enough at Bedford Hts to know the difference. The waiter even looked kind of nervous when I ordered it, as though they only had some of the whiskeys they should be carrying. The place is new however and they are slammed with business, so I’ll try them again in the future and see if they’ve worked out the kinks (and up their star rating). All that aside… the place is still really good. I highly recommend the white pizza, pretzel and wings. The house BBQ sauce is amazing! If you’ve never been to the other locations, you won’t miss things like their awesome Belgian waffles. If you want the full experience, go to the Rocky River or Bedford Hts location.
