Sat down and did receive our drinks. Then we noticed there was some mysterious black stuff on the inside of the coffee cup that could be scraped off. There was also jelly on my napkin that my silverware was rolled in. I didn’t even have any food yet. We waited for about 10 minutes to order our food then just decided to leave since another waitress walked by us 4 times seeing we had our menus and not doing a thing about it.

Always quick and easy food at a good price. A real«mom and pop» kinda place. Their menu has something for everyone. And they serve breakfast all day! My «go to» when I’m in that area.

M– What happened to an icon. It is the road of every restaurateur the raise and fall. Today we fell upon Lamp post fall on hard times unfortunately for my first visit it had the taste of neglect. My meal was hot but that’s it. It had the taste of cleaning solution which is comforting but not pleasant. That portion of my meal was credited back but I wonder if the product was replaced or repackaged. I’m calling out restaurant impossible to solve this one. But at some point you need to get in or get out. D– The Heman which is what is most known here was way to big for me. I ordered my usual. 2 eggs over very easy, hash browns, sausage patty, rye toast $ 4.50. Toast was dry, hash browns and sausage patty where the same as I had elsewhere, eggs were cooked good. There wasn’t anything here better or different than I had at other places. Just a little onion or something would help a lot. I tasted the gravy M got. It tasted like it was tainted with cleaning solution. What do you do? He did the right thing and brought it to the waitresses attention and she did remedy the situation, but she did it unapologetically.

I’ve been going to the Lamp Post for 15 years. The 24 hour, 365 thing is GREAT. The food is quality, no frills greasy spoon cooked up by a rotating group of cooks who no doubt recieved their training from the department of corrections(not that there is anything wrong with that, they are consistently good cooks). The only problem with this place is that in recent years the wait staff has went down hill. They used to be perfect, almost stereotypically great waitresses that almost seemed straight from central casting. Lately it is a staff full of ladies who are rude, inaccurate, and worst of all for a place like this… slow. If I walk in and the girl with the badly drawn outline of a heart tattooed on her neck is there I know I either have to walk out or invest more time into the place than anyone should ever have to to get diner food. When I get take out from the place this girl has NEVER voluntarily put utensils in the bag. Frustrating but since your only other real choice at the end of an evening is Sheetz it is great to have this place available. Bring back the old waitresses though, especially the one with the squeaky voice.

I have become so disappointed with this place while they still make a mean patty melt their breakfast has gone way down. Hashbrown’s are always cold and undercooked and the bacon and sausage links are always deep fried even when you ask for limp bacon or specifically say do not deep fry my bacon they do you can watch the cook and every time boom in the deep fryer no reason for it just pure laziness. So definitely stop by for lunch but eat breakfast at home.

It’s gross on so many levels, like county fair food. You love it, but there’s the guilt, but d – n it’s good. The gyro and fries is solid. Super crunchy(coated?) fries. Gyro is not a monstrosity — sensibly sized. Had breakfast and it was classic greasy spoon — everything cooked in that Sysco liquid butter slurry that makes you poop 2 hours later. But once in a while ya’ gotta’ go for it. Looking for homemade? Looking for trendy diner? Looking for the«cool» local spot — The Lamp Post is none of these. It just is what it is — decent food, cheap, quick, with character that quite literally leaves a weird taste in your mouth when you leave. PS: The worst parking lot since the invention of parking. Prepare the fall neck-deep into a crater.

A true dive. But don’t let that deter you from going here! The staff are friendly, the coffee’s hot, and the food ain’t too bad either! Large portions, breakfast all day, and open late. I had the fried chicken wrap with a side of cottage cheese. Mom had the mushroom & Swiss burger with fries. Our food was very fresh & made to order. Neither of us could finish our food because the portions were huge!

I use to go here every Monday night when I working at a bar. Staff is nice and friendly. Prices are low and you leave full. Usually get breakfast but everything is good. Recommend this place to anyone.

Ate here this morning for breakfast. Had a little bit of everything. Not bad. I feel everything is semi-home cooked… The biscuits taste pre made, the gravy is definitely from a can, the bacon transparent and super thin, scrambled eggs with cheese were served with American cheese slices melted on top target than the shredded cheddar I was wanting. Visiting from the south, it wasn’t the serving size or homecooked taste I was hoping for. It didn’t taste horrible and if invited I would go back, but the quality was similar to Waffle House and I was wanting an awesome diner taste.

Ohio is for club sandwiches, not broccoli and cheese soup. Kassie provided great service and the simple staples were easy on the pocketbook.

– The Best Club Sandwich I’ve Had This Side of The Mississippi – Let me start off by saying, we’re a touring band from Arizona, and needless to say, we’ve eaten in our fair share of diners, but gosh darn it all if we didn’t enjoy the blessed heck out of ourselves at The Lamp Post in Akron, Ohio. The Lamp Post sits on a humble and unassuming corner near a Subway, a reasonable distance from the interstate, and on this particular day, under a clouded and beautiful Ohio sky. When we entered with our hungry bellies and road worn hearts we were greeted by the lovely Cassy, who was more than pleasant, and fitted us with menus and drink orders before you could spell«club sandwich» which is exactly what I ordered. Even our most finicky band member Gaboozi enjoyed his(as always) custom order, which consisted strangely of gyro meat and eggs. Despite his annoying refusal to simply order off the menu and the rest of our bands friendly but indecisive order making, Cassy kept her cool and took our orders like a pro — pleasant, composed, and polite. I’d also add that the lighting inside the establishment was extremely pleasant and natural, thanks to the diners large windows. In short, the club sandwich was amazing, my coffee was always full, the price was kind, and we left with full bellies and rejuvenated souls, ready to greet the sweet mistress we call The Road.

I’m being generous by giving this a two. I’m no stranger to «divey«places and welcome that atmosphere. However, the staff was rude, made serving simple drinks seem like a chore, and made it clear we weren’t welcome. The food was pretty good though, but doesn’t make up for the hassle we had to go through to get it.

Open at convenient night time hours and after hours. I love going here after the bars close to get good food. It’s much better than fast food and a great place to meet a friend after the bars close. If you get the he-man its a buffet style plate of food big enough to feed a horse for only 10 bucks. I highly recommend this place.

Oh breakfast… one of my favorite meals of the day. Too bad this place didn’t impress me that much. We came here after staying with a friend so we could attend the HS championship football.(I know, such exciting lives we lead…) And while the place is small(I didn’t mind) … the booths aren’t really made for 4 people. So a cramped breakfast was had… They have really great breakfast specials until 11am. So with that, I got the omelette of the day, hashbrowns, and toast for only 5.99! Steal. My omlette was okay… «western» style with american cheese. While I’m not big on american cheese, I wanted the deal. It was real egg, and a real breakfast. Can’t complain much. Friends had sausage and gravy… bacon… corned beef hash… and the comments made about the bacon(and what I noticed) was laughable. The bacon was so thin it looked like tissue paper. No thank you. All in all — it’s your typical mom & pop 24hr breakfast joint. But hey, I could had made something better on my own. I like unique brunches… not just the run of the mill.

The Lamp Post is a diner in the Akron neighborhood of Ellet near I-76’s interchange with Market Street. It’s a smaller-sized restaurant that has been in its present location ever since my mom grew up down the road from there in the 60’s. Its specialty is breakfast. I got a Chef’s Omelet earlier today, and I must say that it was absolutely amazing. I have had omelets at Denny’s, Waffle House, and a few other local restaurants, among others. While those at the major chains leave me feeling sick for whatever reason — probably because they weren’t very good to begin with -, the omelet I had today was probably the best I have ever eaten. For those who are worried about getting their money’s worth, their food portions are MASSIVE. It looked like my omelet weighed 1 – 1 ½ pounds, although I couldn’t tell exactly how much it weighed. I saw pancakes being made — they make everything right in front of you — and they were also larger than any pancakes I’ve had anywhere else. They’ve also got buttloads of specials going on all the time, so it’s really cheap to eat here. If I had to find a complaint about this place, it would have to be the cleanliness. The plates looked like they have been used for years, as have the booths. The floors had some dirt on it, although it was enough to get by with. The parking lot is also rather hazardous to drive through with all its lovely potholes. Along with Akron Family Restaurant, this is one of Akron’s hidden gems that is a must-visit for any local.
