Chuck Corica Golf Complex

This is my home course so I hate to say anything bad about it. However, it is impossible to play a round of golf here during the day due to slow play. I’ve never seen a course Marshall talk to anyone about their slow play. They allow groups of five to play incredibly slow. This ruins it for everyone else. C’mon Corica management — get some Marshalls out on the course who will actually monitor the pace of play so we can play a round of golf in a decent amount of time! And, stop allowing groups of five unless the golfers are top flight experts!

Just played here for the first time and I had to write a review — by far the worst course I have played on in Northern California. 2 stars because it had all 18 holes. Greens were in horrible condition and fairways were more dirt than grass. Fortunately I got a hot deal on Golf Now and only paid $ 20. and it was worth that w a cart. It looks like an easy course to walk for exercise. Apparently they are adding more holes — I only hope someone else maintains it because current management should be replaced.

Democratically priced for short game and sweet price for bucket of balls. Great customer service. Clean!

This is a great course for the short game and for kids. Its unbelievably green (especially for California) and is well maintained. Am in two minds about the mats they’ve placed on the tee boxes — don’t love the synthetic feel to the tee shot. Everything else is awesome.

Round length — 5.5 hours
Cost — way more than warranted
Only worth it if nearby…

Play is too slow, staff is disorganized. They let 4 teenagers who were walking leapfrog our tee time, & we only had 3 players who were riding. Took 3 hours to play 9. We quit after 9, very disappointing.

It’s my 57^th bday with 4 of my very dear family members on a random Monday afternoon.
Some in the group don’t play as fast as some behind us would like.
Some punk ass Marshall guy (I think named ralph) was hanging off the nuts of these disgruntled golfers who were in his ear the whole time. they continued to harass n follow my group 4 16 holes. We eventually had enough n walked off on the 16^th hole. the little Marshall was combative n confrontational n should be fired.
This is not the masters fellas. its golf. Its suppose 2 be relaxing. I will NEVER come back here. this was my first time here. I’ve golfed 4 years at hundreds of courses n never have I experienced what I did on that special
not come here if u want to just relax and play golf!

I like this golf course because it fits a beginner to intermediate player like I am who plays occasionally. I never played on the 18-​hole because I don’t think I’m good enough (but one day) so I can’t review the 18-​holes. But I played today on the 9-​hole par 3 course and had fun for only $ 13 bucks Alameda resident price (normal is $ 16). The par 3 course is great for beginners and isn’t that big but its good exercise as you can get some good walking in. So far when I’ve gone, it’s not very busy either so you don’t have to worry so much about people behind you waiting for you to hit. Playing here is really helping my game in all aspects except for driving with woods, I’m learning how to play the irons and chipping, and putting here. Watch out for the water and bunkers!
The range is good also and in the summer times the ranges closes later (no lights).

I HAVE NOT RETURNED SINCE THEN! Abomination of a «golf facility». Friday Novemeber 28^th 2014 I had the worst golfing experience at Chuck Corica. It took my foursome three hours and fifteen minutes to play 11 holes. UNACCEPTABLE! The customer service sucks, the guys in the proshop and the range are rude, douchebags who in turn don’t communicate with the starters and marshalls who can not fulfill their basic duties of maintaing the pace of play. I am 25 years old and have been coming here since I learned to play when I was 8 years old through my days of playing golf here everyday as a member of the St. Joseph Notre Dame High School golf team and I can say I’ve had enough. I leave the course and driving range more upset than I’ve had fun. I will no longer support and be a patron of this «golf» facility.

Beautiful course! Perfect level of challenge for beginners, and surprisingly uncrowded!

This review is mainly for the renovated MIF — it’s AWESOME. Don’t come play it because I don’t want it to get too busy, but I do want to give credit where it is due. Kris Moe is great guy as well — this is a very nice facility to have in town. Keep it up Chuck team!
One suggestion — night golf at the MIF. On a full moon with glowing golf balls it could be a hoot.

Chuck Corica Golf Complex has one of the most beautiful and challenging par 3.
Mif Albright is a must-​play mini course. The green is faster than any other par 3 courses in the area. They also have a very nice practice area with 2 bunkers and a large practice green.

No, seriously. I am so bad that I can’t even hit the ball half the time.
That’s how I ended up at Chuck Corica for their «Get Golf Ready» program. In just five short weeks, I went from missing the ball to getting a quadruple bogey! How about that! The instructors were real helpful, and they did help me improve my form. Heck, the amount of golf balls they give you for the driving range alone more than makes up for the cost of the lessons themselves.
I definitely need more practice, but I can tell you right now that this is now my go-​to place to get down to a triple bogey.

I played here on 9/​14, 1:30 tee time on the Jack Clark (south) course. For some strange reason they made us start on the back 9, which isn’t really a big deal, but things just seemed disorganized even though the course didn’t appear the be that busy.
I realize CA is in the midst of one of the worst droughts in recent history, so I can’t fault the course for not watering the grass and things being dry, but I’ve been playing a lot of golf this summer and these were by FAR the worst conditions I’ve played, by a long-​shot. Fairways were not even remotely green, and on many of the holes you could land a perfect drive in the middle of the fairway but be left hitting your approach shot off of a patch of dirt or dry ground that may as well have been concrete. Greens were in terrible shape; one of our foursome even commented how the brown/​green pattern on one of the greens resembled a dinosaur’s skin. Bunkers were less like sand, more like compacted dirt.
A guy from the threesome in front of us accused us of hitting/​stealing his ball, telling us we «should be more careful» and that he «saw us pick it up» even though we had come nowhere near his ball. This was right after he had shanked a shot of his own that nearly hit us on the next tee box. Class act.
A single caught up to us on 17 (par 4), and rather than ask to play through or waiting for us to all hit our approach shots, he just decided to hit into us, missing one of our carts by a few feet. If I wasn’t already so exasperated and tired from slogging through this course on a hot summer day, I would have had some choice words for him, but I let it slide.
Needless to say, I will NOT be coming back here, even if it’s free. The only redeeming thing about this place is the driving range, which is partially covered and seemed pretty nice.
Take your clubs and your money and play your round anywhere but here.

This review is for the Jack Clark course. Played there this past Sunday. It’s in seriously bad shape right now. Was hard to enjoy the round given the conditions. Wish I’d taken my greens fees and driven farther to play elsewhere.
Some tee boxes were just thick, long crab grass. Patches of raw dirt in fairways and piles of grass clippings around greens. Greens were painfully slow and bumpy. It was like the maintenance crew just stopped trying which is weird b/​c I don’t remember it being this bad 3 months ago.
Lastly, there was a terrible odor around the course. Smelled like rotten eggs: felt like we were stuck in a swamp. Big distraction for an already uninspiring round of golf.
I would stay away until they finish renovating the course. There are HUGE mounds of dirt piled up for the upcoming work. They don’t really get in the way but also not what you want to see on a golf course.

Tried the Par 3 Mif Albright course this weekend. For $ 16 per person, I don’t really think it was worth it — very small course with high grass, and the grass was muddy.
I was also quoted the resident rate of $ 13 on the phone even when I clarified that I was a San Francisco resident — in person, I was told that only Alameda residents could get the rate. Understandable but think the message should have been consistent rather than the bait and switch.

The par 3 is currently under construction. Will give an update once it’s up and ready! Can’t wait to start smacking some balls!
In the meantime, check out the driving range. They recently laid out some new turf, so it’s perrrrtay! :)

I just played 18 holes at Corica for my birthday. They have quite a set up going on there. Two golf courses, plus a par 3 and a driving range. The staff were friendly and incredibly patient which is not always the case at municipal courses.
I played the South course (Jack Clark) which was perfect for me since I’m just getting back into the game. The holes are fairly wide and forgiving. Some greens are a little beat up, but all in all the course was in decent condition.
My only suggestion for them is to provide more directions between holes. Sometimes I couldn’t tell where I was supposed to go.
They also have a driving range. Currently it’s mats only but I’m told they are looking to create a grass range which I much prefer.

Well, if you’re looking for a place to hit some golf balls in the East Bay, you can come here!
Tucked away on the island known as Bay Farm, part of Alameda, next to Oakland, is a very nice golf course. It’s so quiet and mellow here, that you can hear the birds even in the afternoons.
The course is smooth and well maintained. I’ve only been on it once, I usually go to the range to hit some balls and relax. There is probably a good 20 slots on the range that you can use. A bucket of balls can be had at the front area, where a lovely elderly lady will assist you.
I believe its 5 bucks for a small bucket of balls. You can get the medium for 7 bucks which holds 60 balls, and the large for 12 bucks which holds 120 balls.
It’s never really crowded, and there is more than enough parking. Overall, a very relaxing time from beginning to end.

Great value for the price. We played the south course and quite enjoyed. There is nothing unique or particularly interesting about the course that might recommend it, but it is convenient and well priced… And Golf after all!
