The donuts here are pretty good quality. If you compare to krispy kreme, it’s not as oily and moist, but it has a nice crispy outside crust. It’s not due to glaze either, the actual dough is crispy The first time I came, I was short of cash about 2 or 3 dollars. He told me it was ok and wanted me to come back for business again(since I bought 2 dozen for church snacks.

I love going here at lunch, the place feels so calming. The people are really friendly. Its a simple enviorment. And the donut are amazing! They’re really good! I had their cinnamon roll, it was big like really big and delicious. Not too sweet either. I’d definately go try this place if I was you.

From the looks of this place, the donuts don’t look fresh, but don’t be deceived! The donuts are great! The bear claw had a crispy outside and soft inside. My favorite donut is the old fashion donut dipped with chocolate and sprinkled with peanuts. Next time, I will pick up a mocha at Peet’s and hop over to Golden Pin for donuts!

I hate to say it(for more reasons than one), but Lee’s close to my apartment is way better than this place. First, GPDs is always closed when I go by them even in the daytime, so I assume they close very early(just after breakfast) unlike Lee’s. Second, when I finally caught them open, the attendant(owner?) was short with me and on the rude side. Third, I had to ask him whether a donut had chocolate on it or not(the glaze it had was like a darker shade of tan) and he acted like«of course it is» and I was crazy for asking. Fourth, I ate it a couple minutes later and was displeased. Lee’s, as aforementioned, is much better. Needless to say I’m not in any rush to go back to this place.

if you want donuts, go down the street to the bakery with fat guy out front. golden pin has a meager selection of donuts and nothing out of the ordinary or special. the customer service was poor, and the store accepts nothing but CASH! so if you live in the 21st century, or are a biracial couple, or democrat, go somewhere a little more up to date. maybe safeway. this place does not deserve a rating.

This place rocks. Only in Alameda you’ll find a doughnut shop where some of the regular customers go behind the counter, ring themselves up, and grab a cup of coffee. I haven’t made it to that level of patronage, but my wife and I try to make this place our regular Friday morning breakfast. The warmed glazed in the morning make my day.

My biggest joy is a well made cappuccino and a donut. Usually, I’m going back and forth between a star bucks and another donut shop, but this morning, I found myself on park street in need of a cappuccino and donuts. Having already Unilocaled around for a donut shop in the neighborhood, I decided on golden pin based on the fabulous donut reviews. I am not disappointed! I love how the twists are shaped a little bit differently from every twist donut in the world, so you know they were made especially for the shop that you stood in to buy the donut, so made especially for you. but more importantly: the cappuccino was superb! I’m pretty snobby about these things, but the espresso tasted good and the foam stood up to the bouncy ride home across the tracks, and now even an hour later I’m sipping a tasty FOAMY beverage instead of the classic lukewarm coffee flavored milk that most of my failed foamed capps come out as.

This is the best donut shop in Alameda, or anywhere else in the bay area as far as I know. Everything is always fresh, made same day in the spacious kitchen in back. It is also a great place to have a conversation or meet your neighbors. I’ve met lots of friendly people here, largely seniors who come here on a regular basis. If you want to watch a bunch of people sitting in front of their laptops web surfing or see trendy art, go someplace else. The coffee may be better elsewhere, but Starbucks and Pee ts(just down the street) lack the small-town charm of Golden Pin.

Well, I make it a special point not to eat donuts or even doughnuts very often nowadays, but I used to eat plenty, so I think I know what I’m talking about. This guy makes the B E S T doughnuts anywhere. Ohhh my goodness, they are very great and tasty. About 3 – 4 times year, my boss asks me to bring in doughnuts to a morning meeting, and thats the only time I let myself have one. I always go to this guy, he makes Colonial Doughnuts taste like poop in comparison. My only tiny complaint is that he doesn’t seem to do a sugar doughnut(like a classic glazed, but with granulated sugar instead of sugar glaze). Or maybe he does, and they’re always sold out or something. I don’t know, and I haven’t asked. If you like doughnuts, and live anywhere near the area, make the trip. Its an unassuming little storefront, looks kinda dull and lonely inside… but you won’t be sorry.
