I have been desperately trying to find a good sandwich place in the Easy Bay a little closer to my apartment, so that I could quit driving 20 minutes to Rockridge and Berkeley. I was hoping that Sandwich Board might be that place. Alas, my wish was unfulfilled. The service here is… Adequate, I suppose. The woman who took my order was helpful. The man who rang me up was on the phone talking loudly and never even provided me with a total before sticking his hand out in anticipation of my payment. Sure, I could see the total on the register, but it is still a rather rude gesture. Honestly, that didn’t bother me too much. If the sandwich was good, I could overlook it. Unfortunately, the sandwich wasn’t up to snuff, either. I ordered the turkey and cranberry, one of my favorite orders across the bridge at The Workshop. Boy what a disappointment. There was so much cranberry on this bad boy I was scraping it off after 2 bites. I like cranberry, but honestly, I’m almost positive this was canned. It tasted canned, anyway. As for the turkey, all white meat breast is a bold order. You have to expect a bit of dryness. But goodness me was this turkey breast dry. And the cuts were so very thick. I was washing it down with water after the first half. My tongue still hasn’t recovered. A large disappointment of a meal to be sure. Seating is also very limited, and parking is tough to find. Perhaps my expectations have been lifted by some of the other great delis of the Bay Area. But if you have a choice, I would recommend you pass right on by the Sandwich Board and head to Genova instead. There’s just no value here that I can assess. Sorry.

Their Po’ Boy is more like a Rich Boy. You can kinda make it into an Italian sub, and I love it. The turkey is OK too.

Went for the first time after moving to the area, and the owner was working the counter. He didn’t recognize us, so asked if we were visiting or new to the area(makes us feel more«at home» in our new place!). The lady taking the orders recommended the turkey, so we both got turkey sandwiches. Bread was soft and good, meat was fresh, and toppings are unique! The turkey, bacon and cranberry was my preferred of the 2 sandwiches we got today. Can’t wait to go back!

In my opinion, this is the best sandwich shop ever! That fact that they offer fresh carved turkey is AMAZING! I’ve tried many popular sandwich shops, to me, they never live up to the hype. I don’t care what they put on the sandwiches, if they’re giving me processed meats, I feel ripped off, I could make that at home! I’ve been coming here for about. 25 yrs? It’s a little hole in the wall, easy to miss. Give one of the turkey sandwiches a try!

If you want really fresh turkey, this is the spot. But other than that you really could get a better sandwich at Safeway.

Great service for my 1st time! The owner himself made my sandwich and explained how he does it! All the locals seem to come here! What a great spot! I love supporting the locals.

So few delis offer carved meat but this place does! Very small place but sandwiches are fresh and delicious! Got a turkey sandwich where they asked if I wanted white or dark meat which is so refreshing instead of having a slimey piece of process deli meat. Would def come back!

Tried Sandwich Board on a whim with my boyfriend while we were strolling through Alameda. First off, its a tiny little shop so if you don’t have Gmaps or some kind of GPS to guide you to it, you might just miss it. It definitely is a family owned business. The owner is behind the counter as well helping with making your sandwiches. Don’t expecting seating though because it is a shop and not a restaurant. We got the special. Turkey salad sandwiches with chips and a soda. I was really excited because I love turkey on my sandwiches and I had never had turkey salad before. It was tasty for the first time having turkey salad. I also added provolone and everything just went so well. It also actually is quite a bit of food. I had it on the soft roll and I only ate half because I was so full. NOTE: The turkey salad sandwich goes VERY well with Doritos, better than kettle chips. All in all. Great place. Would go again :)

Like not love! Your sandwich is going to cost $ 8-$ 9 and once you add something to drink and chips you are looking at $ 12. First of all, I think that that is a little much for lunch AND although I appreciate that they are not using deli meats for their sandwiches… there are other shops that don’t either. Also, I didn’t think that the service was that great. The guy took my money and put the sandwich in a bag. I don’t expect too much so it was fine, but I don’t know what service other people are commenting on. My sandwich was good, but not to where I am going to be clamoring to return or making it a weekly routine. I did like that I was full after eating, and I enjoyed my sandwich. It was steps above decent but not mind blowing. Maybe I should try a different sandwich next time…

The olé fashioned sandwich shop. If you want a true turkey, Swiss Cheese sandwich come to the Sandwich Board. It’s a mom and pop shop where they fed you like you’re one of their children, hearty helpings and baked turkey. The bread is truly soft baked and all the trimmings are fresh.

This place is ok. I don’t really understand all the hype behind it. All my coworkers tell me this is «the best» sandwich place, but I feel like it’s just your average run-of-the-mill sandwich shop. Nothing special. The bread is fine, but they’re often out of certain kinds. They microwave your bacon if you order a sandwich with bacon on it. This makes it limp and soggy– not good. And the guy that works here is never, ever friendly. I feel like I could get a better sandwich at Safeway.

Stopped by off a recommendation of a friend who raved about it. Upon my arrival I can see why I had missed it before! It’s a tiny shop cut into the wall with barely enough room for people to make their way from order to pay, but the excitement running through this place is palpable. Apparently it’s a big deal! There is only one very small table inside and one and a half tables outside(small table and a bench!) — but all the more reason to have an impromptu picnic! There’s nothing like the smell of fresh bread for starters and they have SUCH a variety it’s crazy! The guy took my order on a little brown sandwich bag that ends up being the«container» for your sandwich which was pretty groovy. Efficiency is key in a place that small and they’ve got it! I ordered the egg salad and it was great — had to get a fork to eat the rest that had fallen out everywhere, there was so much extra! A little intimidating at first because there’s so much sandwich, but once you take a couple of bites it’s too good to be worried about keeping your fingers clean. If you’re looking for an awesome variety of freshly-made sandwiches this is the place to go.

Cash/Credit venue looks like sandwich shop should look; old and they know what they are doing. I had the Susan special on crunchy bread. It was the most amazing mix of cranberry sauce, turkey, bacon, and a gang of other ingredients. I had a dark and white mix of chunky turkey meat that was just filling enough. If you are in Alameda, go here instead of Subway. Sandwich Board crushes the competition.

This is a great little mom and pop sandwich shop. It’s super easy to miss if your driving to fast but there is plenty of parking near by in the B of A parking lot. I had a turkey avocado on Dutch crunch. It was very good, it had plenty of meat and I paired it well with some nacho Doritos and an Orangina. Best place to get a sandwich when in alameda

We are lucky with quite a few good sandwich places in Alameda, the sandwich board tops the list with turkey sandwiches made to perfection! The turkey delight is a true delight, I would give six stars if I could.

found this place in the cut by fruitvale– WELLDAYUM! that’s a good fuckin sandwich. looks a little sketch on the outside, but when u walk in the smell of oven roasted turkey takes u outta Oakland and right into grandma’s kitchen. I got the Susie with no bacon, mixed turkey(white and dark meat) on sourdough, my friend got the same on dutch crunch. we were both in bay-area-deli-sando-heaven. definitely my new ritual stop after landing at Oakland airport.

Reuben was delicious! Great quality meat, toppings & bread. Turkey delight was also delicious. They roast their turkey in house! This was a great hole in the wall place to hit up before heading to some wine tasting :)
