I’ve always ordered the same when I come, but service has gone bad each and every time I’ve visited. I hope their management comes to visit to experience the bad service.

I enjoyed the view of the Alameda bay while having their Sashimi and the Thai iced tea. Fresh seafood, good service and excellent view. Parking was little hassle because the complex has a hand car wash.

First, I want to say that I am not a picky restaurant-goer. If the food is decent and conversation with the staff is at grunt level or higher, it’s an A in my book. But this place… Eh. I feel bad for the staff. It was very busy when we visited and the staff was running around like crazy. We were seated in a timely manner(~20min wait) and within 5 minutes we had 3 different servers come and ask for our drink order. Got our drinks and they didn’t give straws — politely asked for some and I was personally handed three straws for 7 drinks. Okay, weird, but whatever. Another(4th) server comes to take our food order. We had a group of 4 and ordered 5 or 6 rolls for the table, plus an order of chicken katsu. Waited about 20 – 25 minutes for the food, and it came out so sloppy. We all went for different rolls and they all fell apart. They weren’t even trying to stay together. The fish did not taste fresh. I’ve had sushi from a hole-in-the-wall restaurant in the midwest taste better than this. That’s when the fun started. We realized they never brought out one of our rolls. A 5th server asked us how everything is, so we told her they never brought it out. She profusely apologizes and asked if we still wanted it. Um, yes… please? Be we also have no designated server, so that’s fine. She had no idea what we ordered. So she puts the order in and 5 minutes later, we’re in negi hamachi paradise. Or so we thought. I ate a piece and then noticed there was a hair on one of the other pieces. Gross, but unfortunately that happens occasionally. Nope. There were hairs all over the sushi roll. All. Over. We complain and, yet another,(6th) server comes by and we explain what happened. She was clearly ticked off, in a matter of, «oh, not this crap again.» Which made me think this stuff is common. We get our bill, which they kindly took off the hair roll and another one that was so messy we couldn’t eat with a fork, and we left. Oh, also I was in the restroom, as ladies do, and one of the male wait staff enters and starts cleaning. Uh… What. Overall, I will not be going back here. And that’s saying a lot about someone who’s eaten a cheeto out of her bra on a train.

Having an island. Lion roll. And marine roll. Headed to Hawaii tomorrow. The bento are the best for dinner! Love this place for sushi.

Great eating place specially with the view of Alameda Bay. This place is alway busy day or night. Worst in the evening. Sushi come in large portion if you like a mouth full and there are a lot of roll to pick from. Love this. Waiter and Waitress work hard juggling multiple tables and sometime they get lost no where to be found. Thumbs up for sushi.

Parking here can be difficult since it’s so small. Street parking is always better since no one really cares to think about them! I’ve had one negative experience here before coming here with my family of 5 on a Wednesday night. The place was still really busy for a weeknight. We had to wait about 45 minutes before we were seated. I remembered coming to this place in years past(when it was in a tiny shop by Anna’s Linens) and I remembered how amazing the service and food was. This time around, I was extremely disappointed. The entire staff had been replaced and it’s not as authentic as it used to be. I noticed that they use extra patio tables and plastic chairs to make room for extra customers. Seriously? What kind of sushi restaurant does that? If you can’t afford real tables and chairs then you shouldn’t be in business. We ordered miso soup, seaweed salad, raw oysters, and a variety of rolls from their specialty menu. The miso soup and my parents’ tea was lukewarm/borderline cold. How hard is it to have warm soup and hot tea? Then all of sudden, the sushi comes out before the seaweed salad for some reason. I had to flag down our server to ask for the seaweed salad to have it be served. The sushi was mediocre, the Lion King was not hot and fresh as it used to be and the sushi was prepared really messily with too much rice. Our Rainbow Roll had two thin cuts of different fish and the Cherry Blossom wasn’t fully covered with tuna. Everything was sliced unevenly and it seems like they didn’t care how the sushi looked as long as it got onto the plate. My brother put in a last minute order for 6 raw oysters and noticed that they charged us extra for something and we asked them what the charge was for and it turns out that they charged us for 2 more because it only came in 4 which doesn’t make sense to me because most oysters are usually ordered by 6 or a dozen. My family has been coming here for 8 years or more to celebrate birthdays, graduations, and celebrations. Each time my parents spend $ 100 or more for us and this was the final straw. I am never coming back.

I don’t want to write a BAD review however it’s that bad. I’m sitting here writing this Unilocal review while we wait for the rest of our food. Our rolls arrive and it was wrong. We had specifically asked for no avocado and no cucumber. Our waiter comes back and argues with us and tells us that’s not what you ordered. In addition to that tells us no we can’t redo it for you. I had to get up and walk over to the sushi counter and explain my order to them. 20 minutes later our rolls arrive messy and just all over the place. The manager is hidden in the back while other customers have complaints. There was a table behind us who had to ask for the manager because everything she had ordered was messy and wrong. You read all these reviews and assume that some of it may not be true and it may have been a bad experience. However I should have listened to my fellow Unilocalers and not come and give this place a try. $ 130.00 later we didn’t even finish our food. I WOULDNEVERRECOMMENDTHISPLACETOANYONE. Nice area however the lack of customer service and care for there customers has lost me as a customer.

This place is a hot mess. We picked up a to go order and came home with the food. They called us later and told us that they gave us the wrong order. Strike one. The person over the phone then proceeds to tell us to either keep the food we have now or to bring it back without really trying to rectify the situation. Strike two. After complaining and escalating to a manager, we got 20% off our order. Sounds like a deal, right? The answer is no. I would not eat here even if it was free. Like other reviewers mentioned, the fish quality is terrible. Our tuna was discolored and falling apart. It was so bad to the point where we threw some sashimi pieces away. The spicy tuna roll was so fishy that I could barely eat it. Strike three and you’re out. I know what fresh fish is supposed to taste like – my family is in the business and there are different grades of sushi fish you order from the vendor. It seems obvious to me that this place purchases the cheapest quality fish possible. I’m assuming they get by because a lot of people order rolls masked in heavy sauces, which hides the bad quality fish. My picture of sashimi speaks for itself. This is not fresh. It’s discolored, smelly, falling apart, mushy,

Been here since it was first open more than ten years ago. Back then it was just a little joint at the side of the mall. Nice to know the food is always consistent. The sushi here is fresh and the serving portions are pretty good sized. Ordered: toro sashimi — this is my favorite type of sashimi and they make it perfect here. sashimi mix — There’s two different sizes. I got the more expensive one(29.95) and that comes with 20 slices. The best of them was the sea bass. Unagi nigiri — typical Yellowtail handroll, spicy tuna handroll — OK only. The whole roll seems to be made sloppily, the seaweed was soggy, and the roll was falling apart. Tempura ice cream — awesome desert. Its green tea ice cream. How do they get ice cream in there without melting the whole thing?

LOVE the sushi rolls here. Some of my favorites are the rainbow roll, cherry blossom, and orange blossom. Rainbow roll allows you to try many different kinds of sashimi. Cherry blossom is great for those who love tuna, and orange blossom for those who enjoy salmon. If you like baked salmon, the lion king roll is delicious as well. The rolls are fresh, well-made. The quality is outstanding, and the presentation is beautiful. Their bento is okay, nothing too special, I always prefer the sushi rolls over the bento. Sushi house is definitely pricier than other sushi places, but that’s justified by the quality of the sushi. If you come here on a weekend, you would need to plan for at least half an hour of wait time. Depending on how busy the store is, it would take a while(20 – 30 minutes) to make the order. During the busy hours, the waitresses can be quite unresponsive. Whenever my family eats here on the weekends, we usually arrive half to one hour before lunch/dinner time to avoid the busy hours, and we find that the service is much quicker.

I was really excited about eating here with my fiancé for the first time as I always heard people rave about this place and how good the sushi was. Upon arrival there was a lot of people waiting in the front waiting room so I thought to myself that this place has to be good if people are waiting to eat here. We put our names on the list and probably had to wait about 20 minutes for a table of 2. We got the menu’s but then nobody ever came back around to actually take our order so we were just sitting there for about 15 to 20 minutes waiting for someone to actually walk by our table. Finally someone walked by us with a handful of dishes but I stopped him and asked if he can take our order and then another waitress came by and said, «Oh I’ll just take their order! I didn’t know that they didn’t order yet». Well if someone actually walked by and was paying attention to our table then maybe someone would have noticed that we just like to have menu’s on our table just to have. We ordered 2 rolls which were the Hawaiian roll and another roll which had salmon(I forgot the name). Granted they were big but they were messy! You can tell that the ingredients didn’t seem fresh as when you took a piece from the roll itself it was mushy. I mean who likes mushy sushi rolls? This place was definitely a waste of time and money. I’ve had better sushi elsewhere! Don’t trust the hype. I’m not even sure why people hype this place up when there’s nothing to even rave about. Bad sushi and bad customer service.

This place is pretty darn good! The sushi is almost always fresh(I think there was one time it was not so great for some reason). The rolls menu is overwhelming, but once you narrow it down to your liking, you can find some really good ones. I like the sashimi appetizers because they’re a good price and if you want to add it to a side of whatever else you’re eating, it’s a great portion. The fried oysters are good as well as the tempura. The entrees are a pretty decent size. Parking usually fills up quick since there are so many people who come to eat here. That being said, there’s usually about a 30−1hr wait. My complaint about this place is it always feels so chaotic. I feel like I can’t really relax when I’m eating. It’s louder than usual and I think it’s just because it’s good, so it’s always so busy, but for me it can be so much of a turn-off, we go somewhere else. Other than that, this place is good!

The first thing I noticed about sushi house was the view of the beach. If you have good seating, you’ll get a great view during your meal! The downside to this place is the service and the LONG waits. It’s often crowded and it might be a while before you’re able to get a seat. My food took about half an hour or more to come out as well, and the waiters rarely check up on you. The food is pretty decent for the prices but I definitely have had better. I’d recommend not coming during holidays to avoid crowding!

Sushi House is a really good place for rolls. I’m a sashimi lover but almost always opt for the Lion King or Bay Scallop rolls whenever I make a visit to Sushi House. I have also had the sashimi here on many occasions and found that the fish was pretty good quality with good taste. I especially like the hamachi here. If you have room for dessert, the tempura ice cream is really good! Fried on the outside and green team ice cream on the inside drizzled in berry sauces! Note that this place is almost always packed and parking can be really difficult, but definitely worth a try at least.

I didn’t listen to my own advice(to only get rolls) and got the Sushi Boat filled with nigiri. Here are two valuable tips: 1. Sushi Boat filled with nigiri costs $ 90 and has 30 pieces. It feeds 2 – 3 people. It’s a better deal for each of you to get the Nigiri Deluxe which is $ 20 with 12 pieces(or $ 60 for 36 pieces). 2. The fish quality is… so… bad. If you get rolls, the sauce helps to hide that. Just compare my most recent picture of the Sushi Boat picture to the takeout pictures I posted in 2007. Such a stark contrast. What happened to the Sushi House that I remembered in the early 2000’s that always had a crazy wait because it was so good?! Gone are those days.

3.5 stars is the current Unilocal rating for Sushi House, and I am in agreement. This restaurant gets very very busy. That is probably why the service could be so much better. They do get the food out quickly, but they seem to want folks out in a hurry as well. I am not a sushi fan, but my family is. They said that most of the sushi orders were good with the exception of one. One raw fish was too scaly and chewy! Chicken Katsu and Salmon Teriyaki Bento Box was my order. Very pleased with my order. All good. Always good to find a sushi spot that also make other tasty entrees as well.

I wish this place was closer to my house but I finally got a chance to come back here after several years since my clinical site is right around the corner! Ordered: Marine Boy Roll, this roll had everything i love about sushi, raw fish(tuna, salmon, white tuna, hamachi), unagi sauce, crab meat, unagi, salmon skin, tobiko, cucumber, kiwi sauce, and the California rolls were wrapped with soybean wrapper. SOGOOD! This place is also where I first tried a lion king roll. I was about 9 years old. Ever since trying their lion king roll, which is a baked salmon sushi roll, I’ve ordered it at any sushi restaurant that has it. Although, no place can top Sushi House’s Lion King Roll. I trust everything else on the menu is just as great! This place has a long wait, so be ready to wait and it is right next to Alameda beach so it has a nice view with the restaurant having big windows overlooking the water. Also since the wait is long, there is a shopping center right next door so have someone wait then run back when your party is ready to be seated! It’s definitely worth the long wait and I can’t wait to come back here because I always crave this place, but never get a chance to come since it’s kind of far from where I live.

I shall call this place«Sushi by the beach». Beautiful location! I always pause for a moment and look at The Bay… SF in the distance… hard to believe that two miles away is where I sometimes work in our Oakland warehouse. Piles of trash around the streets… interesting people roaming around. It’s a respite from reality. Food: i doubt my sushi is being made by Japanese sushi chefs. You’ll find rolls with cream cheese in it. Not going to knock you if you’re a fan of that. You’re just not going to find sort high quality sushi. The value is very good for lunch(my Asian Parents would approve). Worth getting the Bento lunch special! Service: They are fast and cater to the lunch crowd. Ambiance: Again, it’s sushi by the beach. Windows surround the view. I forget that I have to go back to a windowless warehouse.

One of the top place to eat if your around Alameda, perfect location– next to the beach, shopping centers and next to a place where someone could wash your car. Though it can get crowded during dinner hour, but there’s some bench you could sit if it’s don’t taken. Staffs are usually college students, slow on the pace even if it’s crowded or not, nice people though. The foods are delicious. If your indecisive and you want to have something that can satisfy you throughout the day, try hwe dup bap– it has rice, vegetable, korean sauce, with two different raw fish all in one bowl. A korean dish and this is the only place I know that has this. The place looks clean, but the table are usually sticky and I once found a piece of hair in my food, I know it’s not mine cause I don’t have a short hair. But the server was nice enough to gave us a new batch. I loved that the parking is big, I never had trouble looking for a parking space.
