The worst spaghetti and meatballs I have ever had. If you like a lot of sugar in your meatballs it’s just like out of the can. The manager wanted to argue with me saying it’s their best dish with no respect to the fact they were not good. He didn’t bother to bring something else . Really bad management …

Just had the Salmon and Risotto for lunch– it was good! The fish was perfectly grilled and not seasoned too heavily– and the Risotto was creamy but not heavy. Jerry the waiter or manager was funny, and provided steady service and conversation throughout our meal. Great Lunch thanks to Jerry and company!

My friend and I have met annually for the past ten years at the Alamo Palace Chinese Restaurant. This year we decided to meet at Xenia Bistro and we were not disappointed. The food was beyond excellent. The service was a bit slow, but friendly as we were not in a rush to eat and get out. We’ll be back again.

I built my own omelette and it was so fresh and delicious. Eggs, bacon, mushrooms, avocado, and sausage with a side of tomatoes. The staff is great here too. When in town, this is my go-to spot for breakfast, plus they have several tables by windows that offer great views.

I’m confused about the bad reviews from groupon owners? I only paid $ 3 more dollars after using the $ 22 groupon for brunch and mimosas for 2. It was a pretty good experience, the servers were super attentive and friendly. I got the calamari steak, and my boyfriend got the grilled salmon. I really liked the lemon butter they used for my dish, and never having a calamari steak, I wasn’t sure what I was in for. I enjoyed my brunch — despite being scared from all the 1-star groupon reviews.

Pretty darn good. The server was actually overly happy to help and serve. Not often one says that! I had the short ribs which came with veggies and mashers. I should have said no sauce as I am not a fan but most places serve it that way. My mom had the Paella which she liked and my partner had cioppino which he also liked. Appetizers were calamari which was just okay and a plain balsamic dressed salad. The server was quick to keep my tea refilled which was great. Considering it was the night before MLK and the place was packed with only two servers they were on point. This was my second visit and I will be back again.

We used to just pass this place up every time we were in Alamo plaza and my parents wanted to try it when I came home for the holidays. So glad I did! The food is amazing and the service is on point. I also like the atmosphere the restaurant gives off.

I came for lunch on Friday and was just… underwhelmed. The service was good but for the price, my lunch just didn’t cut it. I ordered the Xenia salad with the Balsamic dressing. The portion was small, fine for lunch and all the ingredients were good but just nothing special. For almost a twenty dollar lunch, with drink and tip, I just expect a little more.

1st time here. They honored our coupon(some places don’t). The menu choices just about made me drool. A packed restaurant is always a good sign and our server was professional & sweet. And about the food… The paella & meatloaf were scrumptious. The dulce de leche cheesecake ala mode was a great ending to a nice dinner. The only bad was — please don’t charge me $ 3 to «split» two plates evenly but offer me additional plates. That is ridiculous when you consider what little effort it takes to pour/place items onto the two plates you were going to give me anyway. It all goes into your tip anyway?

I’ve only been here once for dinner. Hands down this is the worst place — especially in this price range — that I’ve ever eaten in the Alamo/Danville area. It makes me rethink the dining options I thought were bad — until I came here. Pro: the service was very friendly. Cons: We were informed the healthiest entrée was the chicken with risotto, so that’s what we went with. Chicken: was clearly made in advance and reheated /possibly sitting under a heat lamp all day. It was so dry and the exterior was so tough that it was difficult to even cut. The skin was off(maybe that was what made it healthy) so unfortunately there was no moisture retained from all the cooking /reheating). Risotto: bland. No flavor. It ended up tasting more like regular white rice. Gravy: flavorless gravy surrounded the exterior of the dish — probably not that healthy. I wasn’t sure if it was meant to help tenderize the chicken or add flavor to the risotto — it didn’t do either. Wine list: the good thing is that the wine selection was so bad it kept me from ordering more than one glass. Judging from the martinis being served at the bar, my guess is that people don’t come here for the food or the wine.

I hate giving an average score. I like tipping the scale when rating places… when it’s justified. Unfortunately, this place is just average and below avg given that they’re charging so much for their food. See pics below. Do you think either dish is worth $ 12? — The omelette was overcooked. — The hash browns were from who knows where, but I know I can make better. — The pancakes were the smallest I’ve ever seen. — One measly egg Sunnyside Omelette ordered wasn’t even under the omelette section of the menu and no one could tell me if it was an actual omelette. Odd comment, but it’s not labeled an omelette on the menu. I wouldn’t paid $ 7−8/dish, which is exactly what happened since I had a Living Social.

Both times I’ve been here the service was poor and the food was a below average. Not a great choice.

EXTREMELYOVERPRICEDFORMEDIOCREFOOD !!! Seriously — charging an extra $ 7 – 9 for a SMALL price of chicken of steak on a salad? You could go but a whole pack of chicken at Safeway across the street and feed the whole family. This place is such a rip off. The only reason why it’s still in business is because it’s the only place to eat in Alamo.

We come to Xenia because it is local. The staff is wonderful. The food is «Meh.» Same menu over the years. Everything is just ok. We keep hoping for something fresh but it is not going to happen. The salmon was fine. The tomatoes on the caprese salad were fine. But this time of year why aren’t they fabulous? It is such a great location for locals and it just could be so much better with a little attention. The seasonal veggies were carrots, cauliflower and zucchini boring. My son didn’t even finish his mashed potatoes because they were just bland.

Ummm seriously??? I swear the meatloaf reminds me of a Swanson’s TV dinner back in the day. That was all filler and no meat, bland with unseasoned veggies and blah mashed potatoes. I’m so glad my husband and I split it.

Went with 2 friends for an early lunch here on a not too hot day(7⁄11). initially planned to sit inside but there was a single, very loud party of 8 – 10 and the sound just bounced off the walls so sat outside.(Place needs some fabric hangings or something to mute the sound) Outside, there is some shade from slatted wood overhead but on a hot day, it would be unbearable. However, both the food and service were excellent. Young lady server was peasant, alterations to menu items not a problem. Refilled tea w/o asking. Good suggestions: get home fries or shredded potatoes extra crispy and she was right. Friend had eggs benedict and declared it excellent. Another had a special scramble and loved it. I went with the Xenia salad and ordered it with steak instead of turkey and my generous portion of skirt steak came just as ordered, med rare, and was delicious. We also shared an appetizer of fried calamari and it was light and very good. All in all, unless interior gets some sound deadening, would only return when weather allows outside dining which is a shame because I really enjoyed the food and service.

Food was absolutely delicious! Not just mine but my moms & sisters as well. Customer service was excellent! Our server Joshua was super nice, very attentive despite he was the only server, and great with the children that were eating at the restaurant as well. Definitely coming back again.

We liked the ambience and the food here. My seafood stew was delicious and my wife’s salmon was good too. Loved their homemade bread. Service was very good. Lots of happy people and the regulars love the owner.
