You will never see me going back to Creekside Grill, the food is POOR quality and over priced, our server was very rude, literally threw my check on the table, food came out cold and had a funny smell coming from it, never came by to check on us, never got a refill of my water, the noise level was just unacceptable, Worst dining out experience.

We enjoy the outside patio at Creekside. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is a varied, reasonably priced menu. The food is tasty.

A recent order of tiger shrimp and seared scallops yielded unseared scallops. A word to the manager yielded a friendly serving of beautifully seared scallops. His willingness to make it right was refreshing and uplifted the whole meal. I think this is a very pleasant place to eat. Staff are all very friendly and helpful. Thank you

The Creekside used to be good and could rival any restaurant in the area, but it has sadly gone downhill the last year or so — the prices have risen and the food quality has waned. The last three filet mignons I had here were let downs, and my experience this week having dinner in the bar was the final straw. My filet came rare instead of medium, so I sent it back asking to cook it «a tad more.» While I finished the rest of my meal waiting for my steak’s return, the cooks burned the second one, so they had to start over. What I got back was a flat, butterflied filet and when I questioned it, the unsympathetic kitchen manager had the nerve to argue with me and said, «we cut all our filets and that filet was cut here.» Yeah, it was cut alright — butterfly cut. The only saving grace was the apologetic and compassionate bartender who gave me a free dessert. Creekside needs to up its game. Not every patron has $ 40 to throw down on a disappointing filet mignon dinner.

Fabulous staff. Food is hit and miss. Sometimes amazing, other times horrible. We go for the convenience as we live in Rossmoor. Worse wine pour of anywhere I’ve ever been in the Bay Area. $ 11.00 for a glass of La Crema chardonnay, which is fine if you got a decent pour. Which you don’t. Thursday nights Victor And Dylan work the bar and they are both fantastic with the service and their personalities. There are standards on the menu that never fail, but quite often when you order something new, you wish you hadn’t. Place is overpriced on certain items. Not much to choose from the wine list. Biggest complaint is they totally cater to the much older crowd. There are many people in Rossmoor in their 50’s, who have friends younger than that. Kitchen closes promptly at 8:30. The owners don’t realize if word got out, they would have a larger patronage from the people who don’t go to bed at seven. When all is said and done, I go back to my original opening. Hit and miss. When it’s good, it’s very very good, when it’s bad, it’s horrid. And come on, put the bread on the table while we are still young!!!

Despite the fact that this restaurant is located inside a retirement home community, their menu caters to beyond an older demographic. For our appetizer, we started with the Crostini di polenta. It was a small block of polenta covered by tomato sauce, mushrooms, and small bits of beef. I myself am not a big fan of polenta to begin with, but it was a pleasant starter to split between five people. They also provide a basket of freshly baked bread and a smooth butter. I promise that I am not exaggerating when I say that it’s the best bread I’ve ever had! Crispy on the outside, warm and soft on the inside. Coupled with the tangy and creamy butter, you have a dangerous yet delicious combination that will probably leave you full before your entrée gets to you. I ordered the Braised Fettuccine with pesto sauce(about $ 14). They offer two sizes: the petite and full for just a few dollars more. When I first received my order, I wasn’t sure if it would be enough food, but there’s definitely a generous portion of pasta in there. The food was alright, and I was satisfied. But it’s a pretty steep price for a somewhat adequate plate of pasta. As for the service, our waiters and the staff were friendly… But it almost seemed like they were somewhat inexperienced. They were pacing around our table, trying to find the best place to pick and drop off our plates. When I told a waiter that we wanted a bottle of Corona, he said that he «can’t handle that.» I’m not sure if that means he cannot personally handle any alcoholic beverages, but there were just a handful of awkward encounters with the waiters throughout the night that left me confused. They have outdoor and indoor seating, plus a small bar area with a TV. It seems like a good place to bring your family(though I’m not sure about bringing the young ones as they don’t seem to have a kids menu or an atmosphere suitable for them). I will say that previous complaints about this restaurant not paying more attention to nutrition is valid. If they’re serving a community of people who are elderly, then they should be paying more attention to offering healthy alternatives. Looking at the menu today, I’m not sure that they do.

Great food… Try the Ahi appetizer! Delicious & addictive! Great drink choices! The bartenders ROCK(especially Ryan)!!! They have several TV’s at the bar so it’s a great place to watch the game, and a nice outdoor patio area to eat & relax with the sounds of the creek & the birds… Fun community feel! Highly recommended!

Ok enough, but couldn’t senior citizens use at least some healthy options? How about a veggie burger to ward off colon cancer? Perhaps things not loaded with cheese, mayonnaise, and butter to help keep heart attacks at bay? Rossmoor really needs a juice bar, salad bar, meatless Mondays and some nutrition education!

Creekside Grill has raised its prices to where it is just not worth it. Had lunch there — 2 entrée salads, one ice tea=$ 42.10 with tax but not tip. Noise level continues to be a huge problem. You would think with the higher prices they serve, they would invest in some fabric panels, wall hanging over the fireplace, etc. to mitigate the almost painful noise level. Had a couscous salad that had an over abundance of bitter(read:cheap) kalamata olives that overwhelmed all other ingredients. It also supposedly had Cajun grilled chicken The chicken was obviously a defrosted breast sprinkled with Cajun seasoning; no grill marks and a little watery. They are also curiously overstaffed which does not make for better service since servers don’t seem to be trained on how to check in with customers, timely refill water, tea, scan tables, etc. After we had started eating our salads, here came another server with plates of bread and dressing which was odd because both salads were already dressed. Even tho the owners were there, all activity seemed frenetic, not a pleasant dining environment.

Absolutely enormous portions in a restaurant where you wouldn’t necessarily expect wonderful food. However, the home made chips are tremendous; the chef’s salad is probably the best I’ve ever had, the there are always decent specials with freshly prepared sauces. I’ve tried a few of their desserts and have never been impressed, but the place has great value and very solid food.

Everything I had in their buffet was great. I might have had the best chili ever. I need to steal that recipe as asking nice for it didn’t work. Great guy running this place as he bought some charity stuff at an action today to help handicapped children attend a youth camp. You need to try that chili.

We have eaten at Creekside Grill 5 times in the last 6 months and have always gotten good to excellent food and service at a very fair price. Yes, the noise level is a little loud for our liking but can be nicely mitigated by going in for dinner at 7 instead of 5:30. Ryan, one of the waiters, is always a delight. We consider Creekside Grill to be one of the better restaurants in Walnut Creek and, at the prices they charge, it can not be beat!

We are new to Rossmoor and were happy to find such a nice restaurant in the community. We eat out often at nice places and were pleased with the variety and quality of the food, pleasant ambiance, friendly service and reasonable prices. While not a five star place, that’s not what we’re looking for here. I was a bit perplexed by some of the negative reviews and think they must just come from some grumpy old people. We plan to eat here often.

We love this place. As residents of Rossmoor, we come here all the time. We like food, and find that we can dine and wine here at lower cost than comparable restaurants in Walnut Creek, and for much lower than SF. Stan and Ann change the menu frequently(we like this, although others seem not to…). They have many standards that are very affordable, and also have specials. We have food restrictions, and the staff make sure that we have a nice meal, and work around the no-nos. It is such a relief to find staff that are more than willing to work with the kitchen so we can just enjoy our repast. We always call for reservations, because it is often full, even at odd times of the day. Often we ask for our favorite server — Dean, although we do like all of the servers. Whenever we bring friends here, they leave wanting to know when they can come back. Especially when it is a nice day, and we can sit outside on the terrace, savoring our wine and wonderful meals. BY the way, Rossmoor just recently installed soundproofing, so the acoustics are now great. We had a conversation last night, surrounded by two big parties, and there was no problem carrying on our conversation, and we weren’t even in the coveted corner table — we were in the middle of the room! For those who have been bothered by the sound, come on and give it a try again.

A friend hosted a birthday dinner for me at Creekside last Tuesday. Food was good. However, we on 4 occasions had to ask for bussing of the table or where the food had gone to. the host of our dinner party actually went to the kitchen herself to find out. They comped the deserts. They Apologized. Stan, the owner wasn’t there as far as we could see. The bill was over $ 265.00. We pretty much have decided that Creekside has no interest in approving service. It is what it is. We sometimes order from the menu and bring the food home. Not worth the aggravation and only OK food. Salads are safe to order.

I’ve eaten lunch and dinner at the Creekside Grill and always enjoy both the food and the atmosphere. The building is handsome, the setting is very resort-like with a golf course behind and a creek at the side. Catered events at the Creekside are a different matter. Their catering and the relationship between catering and the Rossmoor recreation folks who actually handle the room reservations are both very problematic. Ann is the primary contact and she doesn’t return calls or emails. We’ve had two major events there and with both of them we weren’t sure the food and drink and audio-visual setup would be there for all our guests. Suggestions and questions are seen as insults. My folks live at Rossmoor and like the convenience for themselves and their guests but if it were up to me, we’d only do meals there, not parties.

Our friends Deborah and Jim have bought a home in Rossmoor and are in the process of getting it ready to move into. Deborah brought me here for lunch today. My mom had lived in Rossmoor almost 20 years ago and there was nothing like this then. The building was built a year ago and it’s handsome, w/a stone exterior, high ceilings, walls of windows and a large patio shaded by umbrellas and towering oaks. As the name implies, a creek runs beside it. Hanging on the interior walls is a collection of interesting original artwork, photographs and paintings. They may be for sale, although I’m not certain of that. The only disadvantage is that the noise level is very high and conversation was difficult at times. It’s located in the Creekside Clubhouse adjacent to the golf course and the parking lot is pretty much always crowded, according to Deborah. We checked in w/the young woman at the front desk and were told there would be a 10 minute wait, which is about what it was. We were seated at a table for two overlooking the patio and given menus. There were a variety of options, from appetizers to soups to salads to sandwiches to entrees. Salads came in appetizer and entrée sizes. Prices were reasonable. I don’t remember seeing anything more expensive than $ 14 or $ 16. I ordered an entrée sized roasted beet salad and iced tea. Deborah ordered half a turkey club sandwich w/half a house salad and an Arnold Palmer to drink. We were both happy w/our meals. My salad was a generous portion w/baby greens, small wedges of beets, pickled onions, canned mandarin orange segments and crumbled feta w/a sherry vinaigrette. My only complaints would be that the mandarin orange segments were canned rather than fresh and the feta was extremely mild rather than assertive. But it was a good salad. Service was friendly and accommodating. Deborah has eaten here three times so far and has been happy each time. I would return.

There are a couple of reasons why I can not forgive this place: 1. For serving me vinegar instead of a vinaigrette and for arguing with me that it isn’t a vinegar, but a pomegranate vinaigrette. When I said«I think» it isn’t a vinaigrette, I was just being polite. I was sure it wasn’t, I make my own vinaigrettes and I know what a vinegar is. And… 2. For the watery crème brûlée. I think they forgot to bake the custards in a bain-marie? The worst part is when they didn’t seem to offer to do it right yet charge you fully for a food that you couldn’t eat or finish because it is just inedible. I’ve recommended this place to some friends and they came back to me with some bad experience. Mostly of how they didn’t like the food and they were right. I guess when I reviewed this place a year ago when they first opened there is still that enthusiasm in the kitchen. May be not anymore. Service is always a hit or miss. Oh and btw, the Italian soda in a small glass filled with ice is for $ 2.99 and not a free-refill, I think I just had the most expensive soda today because I was thirsty and really there’s hardly any soda on my glass, just ice. Only took me 3 sips to empty the thing and had to ask for refill. My drink was more expensive than my appetizer or dessert if I come to think about it.
