This restaurant supersedes the Slippers eatery that failed in the same location. We hope the site isn,!t jinxed! the device is prompt, the food is fresh and excellent. we hope to return often. Alice and Ben

This is hands down the best Mexican restaurant in the area. Gets better and better every visit and the drinks… well worth the price! Try it you won’t be sorry!

We have been to the Jefferson restaurant many times and actually drive from Albany to go there whenever we go out for Mexican food. We have been here twice since it opened. The first time it was busy and the service was on point and the food was fast hot and good. This was for dinner. This was exactly what we have come to love about the Jefferson restaurant.(4-stars) The second time, we came there at 11 am on a weekday for lunch. The owner who is always friendly, was there and seated us. I ordered the taco salad and my wife ordered tacos. Neither of us had ever had these before. The service was good. Not stellar or bad. Neither my wife or I were impressed with our choices. Both dishes were on the cold side. I know a taco salad is going to be cold but the meat at least should be hot and it was not. There was no salsa on the salad or on the side which seemed weird. There was sour cream and guacamole on the side. The salad was also very bland with all iceberg lettuce and nothing else. They should spice it up with some beans or even a little cilantro on top. My wife’s tacos were basically the same. Very bland. Moral of the story; go there for dinner and order the special(which is what we usually get). We’ll be back but will stick to what we’ve tried before. 4-stars for first visit. 2 stars for second visit.

Amazing food and atmosphere! The portion sizes were large and the Mexican rice is the best Mexican rice I have ever tasted. At most Mexican restaurants, the rice is horrible so the rice here was a pleasant surprise. I loved the iced tea because it was freshly brewed.

Very good food! Started off with chips and salsa. The salsa was very good. Not to chunky and not to watery. Chips were warm. I had pollo a la creama, which was on special. It was so good. Very creamy and lots of sauce. Rice and beans were good also. My honey had the halibut plate with shrimp enchilada. The halibut was a bit dry but had a very good flavor. The veggies the halibut was served on we’re very good with lots of flavor. The best part of the whole meal… HOMEMADEFLOURTORTILLAS! I have never been served homemade tortillas at a restaurant. Made my meal! This just may be my new go to for Mexican food. Service was ok.

Wonderful food and staff! We had a Latino in our party to judge. As others have written, the décor and aroma of food being prepared is a treat in itself!

Great new restaurant — they were very busy for a Wednesday evening. Aromas from the kitchen were amazing. Ordered my favorite, Cocktail de Camarone(Shrimp Cocktail) cold and hubby ordered Camarone de Diablo. The shrimp cocktail was one of the best I have had north of the border(best was in Los Moches — but that’s another story!). Lots of gorgeous shrimp, ripe avocado, tomato, onion, cilantro and just the right amount of jalapeño. Other diners were going nuts, wanting to know what I ordered. Hubby’s shrimp were delicious — tender, plentiful and the Diablo sauce was a perfection of flavors and spice. The retried beans were well made — not from a can. And the flour tortillas are made to order — on site. My margarita on the rocks, made me stand up and shout, «olé!» No scrimping on the tequila! Service was attentive and added to the fun. We will definitely return!

The building and décor is great. The service was excellent. The salsa had about 3 pieces of tomato floating in it and little shreds of cilantro and the rest was liquid with something floating on the top that had a appearance of oil. Chips were over cooked. I ordered the Camarones Monterey for $ 18.99 which is(their description): Cilantro and garlic marinated shrimp wrapped in bacon, baked and served Fajita style over sautéed onions, carrots and green peppers. Topped with melted Jack cheese. Served with pico de gallo, sour cream and guacamole. What arrived was totally overdone little pieces of what used to be bacon wrapped around a cooked to death shrimp. The shrimp was like jerky. The beans and rice were totally bland. The homemade corn tortillas were mushy. The other person with me had Cancun mix. Shrimp was way overcooked and food was bland. The flour tortillas were good. The only thing we can recommend there is their margaritas although they are spendy. $ 8.75 for 1 drink. They were good though. I told the waitress about the shrimp being overcooked and she was she was sorry and she thought when she brought them out they looked overcooked. Really! So no offer of discount or anything. Spent over $ 50 for 2 plates and 2 drinks. Disappointing evening. We won’t be back.

The salsa is very good. Fresh with a good bite to it. Ordered the Arroz Con Pollo and it was very tasty. The tortillas were fresh and the balance of chicken, rice, cheese and sauce was very good as well. Service was pretty quick and since it is new everything was clean and fresh, bright and cheery. Good eats…
