Bad tasting food, bad service and overpriced for that slop. They don’t even deserve a star.

So I spent a couple of days in the godforsaken hellhole that is Albany, Georgia. And on the first day I went to lunch at OTCB. This place has a lot to offer for a small price. For about $ 6.40 you get a lot of choices if you like Old South style meat and three type fare. Collard greens, lima beans, mac and cheese, okra with tomatoes, pinto beans, and corn on the cobb were featured vegetables on the day I went. Entrée dishes featured were fried chicken, fried chicken livers, and various other meat dishes like those from the restaurant in the movie Fargo(the part of the movie in which Frances McDormand’s character, a pregnant deputy sheriff, is eating lunch with some other sheriff’s deputies in the meat-heavy entrée buffet restaurant). There is also a salad bar for those who strive to eat healthy. I liked this place but I didn’t love it. Which is far more than I can say for my experience in Albany, Georgia. The few minutes of my lunch hour that I spent there was perhaps the sole bright spot in my experience.

Seriously! People really eat here. Cold fried food, poor service. The restaurant rating should be a 15. Save your money and eat at long john silvers.

Yeah, I agree with the other guys, don’t come here if you want to eat healthy. That said, their buffet is very good. They have tons of options that change all the time, as they use fresh, local ingredients. Think I had fried liver for the first time here, and it was alright, but I enjoyed their other stuff more. Not the biggest fan of their Brunswick stew, either, but a fan overall. Try them on Fridays, when they have seafood! Best of all, they are dang cheap. Think each person is around $ 5. I would choose this place over somewhere like Ryan’s or Golden Corral.

I have to be honest, I grew up in Albany before moving on to several other cities/states(FL, CA, UT, NV) and there just isn’t much to set the standard for really great restaurants. That said, for the price and given clientele(myself included), this is a good place to go for comfort at comfortable prices. It ain’t no salad bar, healthy living kind of place. Ok, understand this is comfort food served buffet style. Got it? If that’s your thing, then this is a good place to stop at in Albany. Is it the best comfort food ever? Not a chance. Is it the best buffet ever? Not a chance. Is it the best food in Albany? Not a chance. Was it just what I wanted at a particular time? Yep. Good food as long as you have the right expectations.

Great salad bar, but if you’re looking to eat healthy, the buffet doesn’t offer much. Fried, fried, and more fried, but I can’t fault them for serving country dishes; it is a country buffet, and that is exactly what you get.
