Just passing through town and saw that this place had 4 stars. Wrong! First off, the server had the personality of a gnat. I am guessing that she would rather be sitting at home, but is being forced to work. Second the BBQ is all sauced up… lots. I couldn’t even see meat. I asked for it without sauce and Miss Personality said«OK.» She then brought out the saucy stuff and didn’t offer anything else. Worst ever!

Great, smoky BBQ turkey legs and saffron rice. The portions of the sides are on the small side, but delicious nonetheless. Definitely worth a try for a quick lunch in Albany, Georgia.

We stop at this place every chance we get on trips south of benning. Best BBQ – we’ve got nothing like it at home!(I love Gus’s but it’s just not the Riverfront. Sorry Gus’s!) Love the pork combo, love the okra, love the ribs. Moist as the minute it was taken out the smoker. Eat here, and eat a lot! You won’t be sorry.

Best BBQ in town! The fried okra is to die for. The sauces are all excellent. I’ve been to both restaurants at least a good dozen or more times and have never had a complaint for them. I like Blackbeards BBQ as well, but I find more fatty pieces in theirs.

I’ve had Riverfront a few times and it’s always been generally good, but never really outstanding. The BBQ itself is actually pretty well cooked. I tend to get the ribs when I do eat here. I usually give it a shot after walking around downtown or doing something at the Riverfront Park with my family. I’ve even had food picked up from there and taken about 10 minutes away and it was still pretty edible. My biggest complaint with Riverfront is their sauces. They do not have any good BBQ sauce. I mean it ranges from awful to barely adequate. I like to eat BBQ with a good sauce and I just couldn’t mix their combinations enough to satisfy. The prices also tend to be a bit higher than usual for BBQ. Either way they do offer more than just BBQ and the food has never been awful. It’s just not my preference when I think about eating BBQ around Albany. Also, the downtown location is uncomfortable in many ways. It can feel crowded. The tables are awkward and the setup is also strange. It’s very self-serve in many ways too. I can’t say I’ve ever been genuinely disappointed, though. If you like to just try BBQ, then I recommend you give them a shot.

Fast friendly service. A lot of room for large groups inside and outside. I special order my fires extra crispy and they score. Perfect!

Oh yeah… nothing like some good ol’ BBQ sandwiches. Located at the corner of West Broad and Front Street in an old building downtown, I’ve been here about three or four times now. This is a decent spot to get a pulled pork BBQ sandwich. Simply put, they are delicious. I love the sauce too as it got a little sweet tang to it. The fries are good too. Sometimes can be a bit salty but not too bad. They are the crinkle cut type which are my favorite type of fries. I’ve also had the country fried steak and Texas toast with macaroni and cheese. Love the mac and cheese and the country fried steak. The Texas toast was somewhat buttery but still delicious. The size of the country fried steak is huge. The layout consists of the main area where you order your food and drinks, and the dining area in a separate but adjacent building. The main area also have a couple of tables with stools to sit at. Can be a little crowded in the main area as people are ordering and waiting on their food. Also, you can have your food to go. They now serve breakfast during the week from 7:00 until 10:00. They also serve alcoholic beverages. Their hours are somewhat limited though as they close up shop in the afternoon. I’m also not too sure if they are open on Saturdays but I know that this place is closed on Sundays. The prices may seem a little high but the portions and the quality makes up for it.

Just a quick FYI. I travel to All-Benny(that’s Albany for you yankees) periodically for work. I have wanted to try this BBQ joint for some time with no luck because they’re never open. I finally made a point of checking their hours today and it turns out they close at 2:30 so this place is really only an option for lunch. :-(

Very very good BBQ. I like the addition of the pickles and the sauces covered everyone’s tastes.

I absolutely LOVE the pork BBQ here. I try to stop by for lunch at least once or twice when I’m in town for work. Mmm… I so wish Northern VA had BBQ this good.

My fiancé and I are from Tampa and visited Riverside BBQ during our recent visit to Albany — we’ll be re-locating to Albany next month. We’ll definitely be making more trips to Riverside. The bbq pork sandwiches were juicy, they had a great selection of homemade sides and bbq sauces — I was a fan of the sweet mustard sauce. The wait staff was friendly and being able to see the cooks at work was nice.

Been here twice after running the Albany Marathon. Very good fall-off-the bone ribs as well as the pork plate. In terms of sides, I recommend the sweet potato fries if only to get the sauce that goes with it – a MUST try! The mac and cheese is just OK. For the meats, I like the sweet sauce or the regular mustard. But the meats don’t need the sauce; it just adds to it. For BBQ, this place is solid. For food in Albany, it’s a must.

Of course the guy from TX is going to give it 2 stars. I think that’s just regional bias. Great spot, with great food prepared in the traditional south Georgia style. We love our sauces down here, and Riverfront gives you some great options.

This place was great. Being from Atlanta I seek out good restaurants when on the road. I think the best thing about this place was the options on BBQ sauce. They give you the Georgia Sweet Hickory, a Carolina Mustard, and a Carolina Vinegar option. But, the fourth option was by far my favorite, a SPICY/HOT Carolina Mustard. Don’t see that too often. It was so good, I bought a pint of it for $ 5 from them and brought it back to Atlanta. I might even try to recreate it.

I ended up having lunch here based on my boyfriend’s recommendation. He has attended various events that has been catered by Riverfront. The restaurant has 2 areas where patrons are seated. The area at the entrance has a counter where you can place your order and get a cup so you can get your drink at the fountain. Upon ordering you are assigned a number and take your pick as to where you would want to sit. We chose the second room where there are many large tables. Upon looking around the place was very clean and decently decorated for a BBQ place I ended up ordering the pulled pork combo with two sides: Brunswick stew and mac & cheese. The pork was very good, really enjoyed it… especially with the sweet sauce that was provided. There were a variety of sauces: hot, mustard based, and vinegar based as well as the sweet one that I mentioned earlier. The sides were pretty good, the mac & cheese was very cheesy had a strong cheddary flavor that I enjoyed. The Brunswick stew was really good and it didn’t look like vomit which is something I am used to when I order this sort of side. My bf had the rib combo which was pretty tasty… had a really nice smoky flavor. The ribs were served with Brunswick stew and baked beans. The backed beans were«pretty tasty and really complimented the smokiness of the ribs» Overall I really enjoyed this place, the service was friendly and quite speedy, ambiance was nice, and the food was yummy. My only complaint was that despite that the portions were decent, I was expecting to be served more for the amount of money that I paid for. Another thing is the location… it is a little out of the way being in East Albany as there is not much here(sadly, everything seems to go out of business). But it is a good excuse if you are planning to check out the Riverquarium and the Albany welcome center as those are the only businesses that seem to be up and running and near Riverfront BBQ. #Yelp3656⁄365

This place was packed, packed and more packed. That must be a good sign. They have outdoor seating and 3 huge rooms… all were totally filled. I ordered the half chicken plate with slaw and baked beans. With a sweet tea, the bill was $ 9.61. Wow, the chicken was very good. It was falling off the bone… and had a great smoked flavor. It was slightly dry… but, the sweet sauce added a unique flavor. The slaw and beans were as good as I’ve ever had. I now see why this place is soo crowded. I’ll have to come back and try the BBQ swine. Atmosphere: 7(large old warehouse rooms) Price:7(a little higher than most BBQ places, but very fair.) Food Quality: 9 Service: 8(mine was served in 6 minutes)

The meats are tender and perfectly smoked; the barbecue sauce is fantastic. Sandwich orders come with one side while meal orders come with 2 sides and a thick slice of soft, buttery toast. The sides are all good especially the sweet potato fries served with honey dipping sauce, and the baked beans. Portions are huge. Make room for dessert: they have assorted cookies and brownies that are to-die-for — homemade(from a local lady who bakes them in the morning and delivers them everyday). A nice surprise. Located in downtown Albany a couple of blocks from the court house.
