Meh. As some of the other reviews said, this place doesn’t know how to salt and pepper things. I get that there’s salt and pepper shakers on the table, but I shouldn’t have to basically drench my plate in pepper and ketchup to be able to taste anything. I order an omelette with avocado and ham. It was so underwhelming I didn’t even care to remember the name. Now am I expecting too much for a place to make its own jam or something? I can even make my own jam to be honest. Pro tip: I always suggest people to give it a try before making up their own opinions.

Pros — open most holidays — friendly waitresses — food usually delivered quickly — outdoor seating Cons — above average pricing on average breakfast fare — very noisy inside dining area — sometime food arrives cold — not very flexible on menu and service I have asked for toast to be brought to the table early on two occasions. Didn’t happen. Also, have asked for peanut butter twice before; said they didn’t have even though it’s on the kids menu.

over priced normal breakfast food. waiters were rude, i was served stale bacon(that was supposed to be apple wood smoked) tasted like nothing… twice after i asked for fresh bacon… she literally went to the kitchen, told the chef… and he burnt some stale bacon and she brought it out to me like i was going to eat it…(told her take it back its inedible) they never gave me the apple cinnamon syrup that was featured as their specialty served syrup… my fried was served 2 str sized sausages… it was literally a $ 6 meal that was $ 12… nothing special like advertised. Great breakfast. Omelets are good but the real star of the combo is the has browns. Definitely opt for these. Service is a little slow, but it’s a cute spot to check out of you have time to spare. Price is a little high if you’re looking for a budget breakfast, but a filling, homey spot!

Place looked very inviting with lots of Windows bringing in the light. But my meal was horrible — pancakes were dry and lukewarm and hard a a board bacon was overcooked and hard. Best thing was the orange juice which is very fresh. Will not recommended to anyone and never coming back here again.

I really liked this place. Went here for a late breakfast on a Sunday; our wait was less than 10 minutes. I food arrived quickly and was cooked perfectly. Stand out was my egg scramble and the fresh orange juice. Can’t wait to go back!

I came here on 4⁄09 with my boyfriend who lives near by. I would say they don’t offer a ton but what they do is good. I had the Benedict with bacon which is the wildcat. It was good minus one egg was overcooked and there water glasses are tiny. But overall it’s a great café with a lot of character. Would recommend and go again.

It makes me sad to write this. I live off Solano and want local businesses to succeed. I also love to go out for breakfast on the weekends. I’d had 2 previous visits to Sunnyside Café where the experience was less than positive. It had been a few months, so given that it was raining, and I was feeling lazy and not wanting to walk down to San Pablo to go to the Log Cabin, I foolishly decided to give Sunnyside one last try. I ordered the two egg scramble with Swiss and Avocado. The menu states that it is served«wet» but I had no idea that meant uncooked gelatinous egg whites pooling throughout. The«country fries» were quite literally dripping in oil. When I lifted my fork, oil dripped off it to the plate. The potatoes were sodden with oil. The only edible part of the meal was the orange slice garnish. The blueberry muffin was also marginally edible, although overbaked and very dry. Definitely not worth the hefty 12 bucks I ended up paying. Please, oh please, won’t someone open a decent breakfast café on Solano? We need you! Until then, looks like I’ll be walking down to Log Cabin on San Pablo from now on.

What a waste of time. Just left and will never go back. First I order a coffee and they brought it out in a terrible dirty cup. I order the special Prosciutto Benedict and it was terrible. Once the order came out I cut the egg and it was fully cooked. Yes a fully cooked egg on a Benedict. When I finally got a hold of a waitress and show her she said that’s how it’s supposed to be. I was really surprised as she just lied straight to my face. Finally I got another server and she took it back. After another ten minutes they finally brought out another one and it was the same one I sent back just with a poach egg on top. They literally just scraped the cooked egg and hollandaise and put a new poached egg on top. So now the English muffin was all soggy and tasted terrible. That was it. Never again. Don’t waste your time with this place save your money and find a better place. Worst breakfast ever.

There is a reason this place was voted best belly busting brunch. The usual suspects plus creative mimosas and benedicts. Fast service, even on a super busy Sunday. If you sit at the bar you can watch the grill. There is also sidewalk seating.

Nice staff but way too busy and expensive for the bland and simple food. Don’t waste your precious time, money, or taste buds here.

Good solid basic breakfast spot. 10 minute wait on Saturday morning which isn’t bad. The«Avenue Benedict» was delicious — I also added a side of salmon with it and it rocked. Good organic options. Muffins were bland and like cardboard. Good service. Friendly staff.

Very average/boring food. I stopped by on a weekday morning looking for a quick, filling and delicious breakfast before heading to SFO for a flight. I ordered two eggs over easy with bacon, toast, fruit, and a glass of fresh-squeezed orange juice. The eggs were fine, bacon had no flavor,(which I didn’t know was possible with bacon), the toast had an odd flavor, and whatever oranges they used in my OJ must have been borderline rancid. My friend who tried the OJ actually liked the bitter flavor, so maybe it was just personal preference. On the upside, I liked that they included pineapples in the fruit cup and that they let our dog sit with us outside. Service was pretty quick, except at the end when we waited and waited for our check, until I went in to pay… or maybe that’s what you’re supposed to do???

COLDASSPOTATOS not fully cooked. Not crispy at all just the worst potatos ever. I got my toast cold and it’s always fun buttering cold toast. Eggs are alright, bacon avacodo omellete is just ok. The latte was the best thing about the breakfast.

Cute little brunch place on the busy street of Solano Ave. We got here at 12pm and did not have to wait at all. The service was quick and easy. Breakfast is served all day and lunch is served after 11:30am I ordered the smoked salmon scramble(which came out more like an egg pancake) while the bf ordered the«sunny side up» burger, except that he actually had to ask for an egg to be added. Odd right, given the name. Anyway, our food came out within minutes. Portions are not overly huge and we did leave satisfied. The food, however, was very mediocre. It was a good place to try, but we would prefer to go somewhere else for better quality food.

I had an hour to kill and stopped in Sunny Side for brunch. This is my second time here and both times I had the same lowered expectations when I looked over the menu. At first glance there seems to be very little vegetarian options, but they do allow substitutions if you ask. When the server placed the food in front of me I was presently surprised. Homefries were well cooked, softened, potatoy but still with crispy edges. The two egg scramble was large and seemed more like three eggs. For the hangry brunch goers, the breakfast burrito has got serious heft to fill your belly. The server was good about following up with water and coffee. Because I wasn’t in any hurry I asked for a coffee refill after she already removed my plate and she was properly back with another cup. I was sitting outside in prime brunch seating and didn’t feel rushed. I wouldn’t go out my way for Sunny Side, but if you find yourself on Solano with a hankering for breakfast, Sunny Side will do you right.

This«could» be a five star place; our group of 6 adults and 2 little kids had fabulous food. The cook is a star. Coffee was great, albeit not refilled enough. The french toast was custardy and delightful. Blueberry pancakes huge. My benedict had crisp bacon, perfectly cooked poached eggs, and roasted tomatoes — FANTASTIC!(Even if it only did have drop of hollandaise on the top). I think the main complaint was just spacey service. The hostess did not have a single clue. The waiter/waitresses are better, but overwhelmed. We got our own menus, water, etc. But the food was sublime!

I believe this place is good, as it seems like a local favorite. I just didn’t order the right dish. We split a scramble and salad. Both left with much to be desired. The two egg scramble included house-made Golden Gate Sausage, spinach, and mushrooms(I substituted for red onions). It was very bland and could use more seasoning. I do like how you have your choice of side and bread through. The Sesame Chicken Salad included minced chicken, celery, dried cranberries, sesame seeds and cashews on mixed green with tomatoes and shredded carrots in balsamic vinaigrette. The chicken wasn’t that great. A popular item is the Sequoia special– a massive undertaking of mushrooms, hickory smoked ham, roasted tomatoes, swiss cheese sandwiched between two savory french toast topped with two eggs over easy, hollandaise sauce and balsamic reduction. Saw some people order it, and it looked intense. The breakfast burrito was also huge. Service was friendly. It’s clearly a popular place, so if I was to come back, I’d just order a different dish. Side note– there’s a lot of typos on their website’s online menu.

They are ok … I love the salmon scramble … I don’t think that they have enough verity of omelets. The mashrooms in the omelets do not seem to be fresh I am pretty sure they use caned mashrooms. They do however have fresh squeezed orange juice. There prices are very expensive… Who charge more for egg white omelets in our days?

Thanks to Toni M my faith has been restored. I went to the previous incarnation of Sunny Side Up. My first visit years ago was 5 stars. My second visit a few months later was 1 star — bad food and bad service. So I stayed clear of them for years. Toni M ate here in recent months and loved it. I kept meaning to try them and finally got the chance today. Mr Rinky and I both enjoyed our food. Mr Rinky who is pretty picky loved his Tofu Scramble breakfast. The tofu was seasoned just right(with turmeric) and came with a generous portion of home fries and 2 pieces of whole grain toast. I had the crispy curry tofu sandwich which also came with home fries. The tofu slices were coated with a light curry breading. The tofu slices were placed between whole grain bread, mixed greens and shredded carrots. The sandwich was very tasty. The generous portion of home fries were diced with enough crispy bits. Great service too! So happy to have found a good breakfast place!

I tried this place for a late brunch on New Year’s Eve, and I thought it was a solid, if not spectacular, restaurant. I thought the lemonade was tasty and had a refreshing tinge of mint. I got the poached eggs with the pork sausage patties, and I thought the sausage could benefit from a bit more salt. Otherwise, it was a solid breakfast, and I thought the side of potatoes was wonderfully crispy and tasty. My advice: go if you’re looking for a great brunch, but don’t expect a masterpiece :)
