I LOVE this restaurant. The only reason I give four stars instead of five is that the owner can be pretty moody, which can put a person off a bit, but it never affects the quality of the food. And the food is wonderful. We have had heavenly paella, perfect Greek-style chicken, delectable lamb dishes of various kinds.(Lamb seems to be a specialty, and he makes it in different styles.) BTW, I think Barry’s could be more accurately described as «Mediterranean» than strictly Spanish, since you can get Greek, North African, and other cuisines. We’ve always had attentive service and perfectly-prepared food. Often – like on a birthday or anniversary – the chef will serve some special thing, a pastry or something, on the house. As to the mishap like the one Alexa described, bad things can happen anywhere(not to dismiss such a serious thing!) but that had to have been an unfortunate anomaly. I have never had a bad, or even mediocre, meal at Barry’s.

My family has been going to Oasis for over 11 years and have never had a problem of any kind. In fact, we go every year on our anniversary. My husband enjoys the greek steak and the lamb/feta lasagne. I love the athenian chicken. We always get the sampler plate and the flaming saganaki(sp?) for starters. The inside décor is a delight for us and our young son.

I would not have even given it a star but Unilocal made me pick at least that. We heard that the corned beef and cabbage was good here, so we met friends for St. Patrick’s Day dinner. They apparently ate here last year and said it was at least decent, so trusting them, I didn’t even look at a menu. We all said we wanted corned beef and cabbage. When the food came out, it didn’t appear that special. No carrots, just corned beef, potatoes, and cabbage with mustard to dip it in. About 10 minutes into our meal, the man seated near us called the waiters over. He said«there is a fingernail in my food». !!! We all heard that and I stopped eating. They were going to give the man a free meal, but he walked toward the door. They said, «leaving so soon?» Seriously? One of the people at our table knowingly kept eating, he must have a very strong stomach. Then another person at our table cut into his potato and found a huge hair!!! So finally they brought the bill, it was $ 16 a plate!!! I will never ever ever go back to eat there, ever! And I want to warn others. It is hard to belive this place is still in business…
