Small, quaint, simple menu, outdoor seating, and bottled, Mexican Coca-Cola! I’d say this place is second best in Albuquerque. I got an iced mocha and it did not disappoint. But, Zendo, right around the corner, has got to be my first pick. Try them both if you’re ever in town!

Come early if you want pastries. I love this small little shop. The barristas have always been friendly and the atmosphere and location are great. As mentioned before though it is SMALL! Not good for large groups if you want to sit around and hang-out. It was a fine spot to sit and read though.

I live in NYC and am relatively spoiled for good espresso. Until Café Giuseppe opened, options for good coffee in NM were a bit bleak. I would say they are easily the best place for espresso in all of NM.

Best coffee in ABQ-hand crafted on a 1960’s vintage Italian machine. If you like lattes, get a Flat White– you won’t be sorry!

Haven’t stopped by in awhile but they serve up great Italian style coffee. I’ve found that it is hard to replicate European coffee in the states no matter where I’ve been, and Café Giuseppe does just that. Used to live in the Nob Hill area and this was on my route from work to home. Nice atmosphere and great pastries too.

Café Giuseppe probably has the best coffee in the Albuquerque area. They have a drip method for brewing so each cup of coffee is custom made. Though I haven’t asked, I bet if you wanted you could ask to have your cup of coffee a little stronger, or weaker. Café Giuseppe is located in a fun, clean space, small space in the very walkable Gold Avenue area of Downtown Albuquerque. They have seating in front of their storefront, which can be used most of the year thanks to our city’s milder weather. Though a tight space indoors, there is table seating along with a bar for solo patrons. I’m guessing most patrons don’t stick around and just want to grab an espresso and a quick pastry or pre-made burrito to take and eat elsewhere. If you ride your bicycle to the Café, they will give you a discount. Unfortunately for all of us patrons, Giuseppe keeps cutting back its hours. Last year when it first opened, it was open until 3 p.m., which is pretty early. Now it stays open only until 2 p.m. The old location in Nob Hill had later hours, but in this Downtown location the owners seem to be catering more to those who work Downtown and not enough to those who live Downtown. Even for those who do work nearby, if that mid-afternoon itch to have a really great cup of espresso hits, it goes unsatisfied. I found out about the shorter hours the hard way after doing a power walk around Downtown with the specific intent of grabbing an iced soy latte along the way. I face planted into their glass doorway willing this new reality to be an awful nightmare. Oh well, I guess one could walk over to that other café instead, which has decent coffee. So for that reason — the limited hours — as much as I love, love, love Café Giuseppe’s coffee, general atmosphere and location, I can’t help but withhold a star.

I found this place while walking down the road looking for some coffee. I ordered a latte. It was excellent. In fact, it was the easily the best coffee I had in a seven days in downtown Albuquerque. For the area, it probably deserves the full 5 stars, but if you are a business traveler used to fares in a lot of other major cities, Giuseppe will fall just a little bit short of perfect.
