I stopped back in for their lunch special. For $ 10, I received a full sized tuna sandwich, chips, soda, and cupcake. The bread was pretty basic; home– or fresh-baked bread would have elevated this sandwich to the next level, given that the toppings smooshed inside the bread were rather tasty. I won’t fault these guys for that, however: this place is named for their strength, cupcakes… I would head elsewhere for a stellar sandwich. Don’t get me wrong, their food scene is good if you need a quick, filling lunch during the workweek, but the cupcakes are what I’ll return here for.

I ordered cupcakes for my son’s 2nd birthday party… two days prior to the actual party! Melanie was amazing! She and the rest of the staff provided GREAT and amazing customer service, and not to mention delicious, crowd pleasing cupcakes! My son’s birthday theme was topped off nicely with the musical note chocolate + butter cream frosted cupcakes. Thanks guys! You will be my forever(and my family and friends) go-to for cupcakes and special occasions. Job well done :):):)

Holy Cupcake Heaven, Batman. Dec-a-dent! I haven’t tried any of the food, so this review is based on six single cupcakes that morphed me into a sugar craving fanatic. I had a strawberry, peanut butter, Ande’s chocolatey minty one, espresso, caramel chocolate, and lemon. Each cupcake is topped with little pieces of joy — aka, sprinkles for the strawberry, lil’ peanut butter cup for the peanut butter, an Ande’s mint, biscotti for the espresso, little twix piece for the caramel, and a simple shavings for the lemon. Boy, you cannot go wrong. I didn’t binge all of these cupcakes at once, but cherished them as part of my lunch or late night sweet tooth craving. Check it out, kids. And I do mean that literally. It might be worth the laugh watching your parents’ expressions when you turn into sugar crazed hooligans. :P

This little place in downtown Albuquerque a true mom and pop place is good. I got a sandwich, chips, and iced tea. It was wonderful and the nice surprise is that a cupcake came with it.

Great breakfast and lunch spot in downtown ABQ. I often opt for the breakfast burritos(they’re sizable but pretty cheap) or a salad for lunch. Natalie’s Californian is my favorite. This place is run completely by one family and they are such friendly folks!

Went for breakfast… just got a cupcake instead. I was not all that impressed with this little place, but maybe they are good for lunch. The customer service was good :-) I will try it again next year during the convention.

I saw that this place had 5 stars and great reviews so I decided to check it out and and get a half dozen of their cupcakes to surprise my husband for his birthday. They were a hit! He normally doesn’t like pastries so I thought he would have one or two and we would have to take one or two over to his fathers. Well they were all gone by 2pm the next day, and he had eaten all but one of them. I was so shocked and happy that he liked them that much! The cupcakes are nicely decorated, super moist and just over the top delicious. This place has ruined all other cupcakes for me and my husband.

Boring, I know, but when it comes to an ideal lunch, a serious salad has and will always zero in on perfection for me. I think it has everything to do with the angel on my shoulder who reminds me that greens are good for me, and she’s right, and it’s comparatively early in the day, many hours before the devil suffocates her and drives me to debauchery. Somehow, I came across a review for Gold Rush recently when I was searching for salad in ABQ, so I went to see what all the fuss was about. And I suppose it was, well, a little boring, but that’s just the way I liked my Barry’s Tuna: simple, very fresh, and decked out with the little stuff that adds dimension to the everyday, like sunflower seeds, sweet onion poppy vinaigrette, swiss and avocado. I’ll be back. To compound the bland, vanilla fracture, I’m also not much of a cupcake person. Really, I tend to turn them down at birthday parties, people always give me that Loser expression. I’ll own it. I just prefer saving myself for, um… unforgettable lovers. Flourless chocolate cake, strawberry rhubarb pie, brownies, you know, hotties. So the woman behind the counter essentially had her work cut out convincing me to try one. I told myself I’d buy one and save it for my daughter and picked a cute little yellow lemon feller. I could smell it in the car. Twenty minutes later I’d made it just inside my front door when the entire thing jumped into my mouth. The verdict? Probably the best icing I’d ever had. Tart, silky, heavy on zest, sexy. And I didn’t feel used or cheap or easy. Just hungry for another.

Great family-owned deli and cupcake shop! I walked over one day for a quick lunch. Eleanor and Gabe were closing early due to being understaffed, but were nice enough to let me in after they locked up. After my meal, they offered me a cupcake and sample of their tortilla soup, all of which was GREAT! This was my first visit, but their kindness made me feel as if I had been a lifelong customer. That really means a lot. I will visit Gold Rush again and again!

This place is conveniently located across the street from my office. The food is pretty good, with wholesome ingredients. The cupcakes are DELICIOUS!!! Banana foster is my favorite. Usually I am on a timeline for lunch so we try to call ahead. It’s a family run place, and they work as fast as possible, but don’t drop in for a quick lunch during peak time, it will take a while.

This place is fantastic, while my son was in hospital having surgery my dear friend ordered me a dozen cupcakes and had them delivered to the hospital for us and they certainly cheered up our day a little. Then my husband instead of a birthday cake this year said he wanted gold rush cupcakes it was the first time I had gone to there store and I got a dozen cupcakes with a nice mixed variety and oh my gosh they were amazing. The variety they offer is fantastic and I love the little toppings they put on each of the cupcakes, the fruit flavour cupcakes are my favourite they are so unique and melt in your mouth. The whole family have said we will happily turn in birthday cakes and make this place our new birthday place to go… Give this place a try I don’t think you will be disappointed, we certainly wasn’t.

Everyone at our baby shower raved about the cupcakes from Melanie at Gold Rush. We had three kinds — each one so full of flavor first bite to last. Tiramisu is my personal favorite. Gorgeous presentation. Many thanks to Melanie for her attention to detail and consideration. Expectations were exceeded!

I ate here this morning and it was simply stellar. I had a lovely breakfast burrito which hit the spot, chatted with the lady as she made cupcakes, and then had one of the freshly made cupcakes. The cupcakes were some of the best I’ve had in forever and I recommend then to everyone! I will be going back before I leave the area!

We just had another great experience at Gold Rush Cupcakes! Melanie and GRC made our cupcakes for our wedding; however, we were not in a position to save any cake or cupcakes to eat on our 1st Anniversary. Melanie whipped up a dozen of our wedding cupcake flavors, and even delivered them to us due to unforeseen circumstances. They were just as good as they were one year ago, and Melanie is as passionate as ever about her craft. GRC is also“unofficially” open for breakfast as well. She offers a very solid green chile and bacon breakfast burrito, and a pulled pork and green chile variety as well, which seems unorthodox for the NM breakfast burrito purist(aka my husband), but it was fantastic! Thanks again to Gold Rush Cupcakes for another memorable experience!

I can not tell you how amazing Gold Rush Cupcakes is. Melanie and her team did the cupcakes for our wedding and they not only were stunning and delicious but working with her was delightful. She took care to find out all of our likes and wedding themes and tailor our cupcakes beautifully to our event. It was like having a friend working with you. She makes sure that things are fresh and is very open about what she thinks will not deliver the bang for your buck. I can’t WAIT to eat our cake on our one year anniversary!
