5 stars all the way! I love this salon. I went here after a lady ruined my hair at inspire salon! Laurie fixed my hair to perfection, and really helped fix the damage. I’m happy to say that my hair looks healthy again. When it comes to a cut and color I don’t trust anyone but Laurie.

came in to get a 2 inch trim & I went home with 6 inches cut off. I was devastated that my long hair was now extremely short. I asked for a v cut but came out with a straight cut. the hair stylist was extremely rough on my hair and almost yanked out my hair when washing. overall had an awful experience

5 stars, hands down. Sarah has never let me down when it comes to colors and cuts, plus she’s easy to talk to :)she’s always done a lovely job, I’m just sad I’m moving back to Texas! Go see Sarah, you won’t be disappointed!

I loved my stylist Sarah. She did a great job on my hair and was lovely to talk to. I was able to get same day appointment which I greatly appreciated.

I happened to be strolling the Nob Hill area with my little girl. I walked by this salon and returned. It caught my eye immediately. When you walk in, you immediately are greeted with a friendly smile and are asked what type of service u need. Beverages are also offered. The Salon has a posh feel to it, with it’s black walls, chandelier and floor to cieling mirrors. The vibe if the hairstylists are laid back and open to conversations. You get the sense everyone of them enjoy being there. Prices for services are average for the area, needless to say i had a great cut and style and will keep going back.

Always great service. I like how Ian cuts my hair. All the staff is over-​the-​top polite. Very pricey for a men’s cut (typical salon pricing), is perhaps the only downside. I wish they had a happy hour for men’s cuts.

I didn’t love this place. The lady working on my hair was really rough with me. At one point in time I thought she was going to slice my head open with her nails during a «scalp massage.» I let it all slide until she ripped out one of my ruby earrings and acted like it was normal and fine. It’s not normal. And it really wasn’t fine.
The salon is cute and clean though, and they were able to squeeze me in on a Saturday afternoon. The prices are appropriate and I was actually very pleased with my haircut. Although the lady doing my hair was rough and a little unfriendly, she did do a very good job in the end. And… it looked like everyone else was having a grand olé relaxing time with their stylist! I probably won’t be back though based on this experience, unfortunately. It was awkward and not enjoyable.

As a guy, I am not too picky about where I get my haircut at. But now that I have experienced a super good haircut, I will be going back to Heart and Soul! I live in the area and simply «walked in». At first I was afraid I would be laughed at for not making an appointment. But that was not the case! The lovely girl at the front offered me a bottle of water and then told me that Lucas was available. When Lucas started cutting my hair, all my worries went out the door as I looked in the mirror and witnessed him turn my mop head into a great looking head of dark brown locks! I will be going back to Heart and Soul and will recommend it to all my friends!

I love, love, love Heart+Soul, my stylist and the quality of service that I receive when I visit. When you walk in the door, you’re greeted promptly and offered a beverage while you’re waiting. I never have to wait more than a minute or two, if at all. I like to go for a cut and color, and usually schedule about two and a half hours total for the entire process. My color turns out great every time, very natural, and I get lots of compliments. You receive a scalp massage with the shampoo and conditioner (very relaxing!) as well as a blow-​out at the end. I appreciate that Kayla doesn’t try to style my hair in a way that I normally wouldn’t — in the past, every salon I’ve gone to likes to flip my layers out, which I can’t stand. I don’t find that here, thankfully; just a great blow-​out that lasts for days and makes me feel pampered. After one too many bad haircuts in the past, I’m very picky about how I have my hair cut, so when I find a stylist that «gets» my hair needs, I stick with them.
The interior is clean and super trendy, and the price is reasonable compared to other salons — Heart+Soul only looks expensive!

Ian at Heart & Soul has been cutting my hair for about 4 years now, and I don’t see any reason why I would stop coming. He does such a fabulous job on my cuts and styling after. The salon has a nice relaxing feel, and I always appreciate being offered a beverage while I’m waiting for my appointment. Ian always answers any questions I have about product and I always trust his advice when I inquire about a certain look. I always refer my friends and family there if they ask where to go for a trim or cut.

I make my hair appointments with Kristen and I always leave very satisfied. The receptionist quickly offers you a bottle of water, a shampoo is included in the haircut price, and everyone is very friendly. I’ve been coming back for almost a year and I have no desire to look elsewhere.

Josh is now at Craft/​– Josh is hands down the best in the Burq. I am so picky about who cuts my long hair. Prices are super reasonable also.

I’ve only had one appointment so I’ll withhold judgement for now, but it’s been three weeks and I LOVE my color. You know the sign of good color, right? When no one says, «Hey, great color.» The conversation with my stylist was a little one-​sided (ahem) but I hope that will change over time. Bonus in that there’s a great pizza-​by-​the-​slice place next door. Prices were reasonable, the staff is professional and courteous. And the salon is very CLEAN.

Theresa is AMAZING!!! I can’t wait until my next appointment with her!!!

I just moved to Albuquerque from San Diego. After finally finding a great stylist in San Diego, I was a little trepidatious about going to a new salon. Having had no choice, I looked one up on Unilocal that was in my neighborhood. Great location by the way, right on Central between Starbucks and Slice Parlor. They even have private parking next to 2 hour parking spots if their spots are taken.
When I called, I asked to see a master stylist or someone with more experience so they set me up with Josh. When I walked in, he somehow sensed I was there to see him since he helped me and offered me a drink faster than the receptionist. He was very friendly and talkative. He did not seem fake at all which was a relief. I hate having to feel awkward for an hour while I try to carry a conversation as I’m getting my hair done. Josh asked me what I wanted and offered suggestions on how he could make that happen. He did a great job. I feel that I can trust him as I grow my hair out and continue to shape it how I want it to look.
This place has a nice, simple look with a few embellishments here and there. The only thing I don’t like is their washing stations. The seat I was in was really awkward and it hurt my neck so I didn’t enjoy getting my hair washed which is usually my favorite part.

This place is great! Its beautifully decorated, everyone is really nice but more importantly I had the best haircut I’ve had in years.
Ian totally rocks — he listens, he communicates. He fixed a really bad cut that I tried to grow out and it looks amazing — I have a lot of thick curly hair and he was able to tame it and make it and me look amazing!!!
I fly to either DC or Miami to get a good haircut — I won’t be doing that anymore.
If you get the chance I highly recommend Ian!

Had to take a quick day trip down to ABQ and while very short on time, my hair had been butchered the last two times I had it cut and at the recommendation of a friend called Heart and Soul.
I have not had a haircut this fantastic in years! JP is new to Heart and Soul but certainly not new to fabulously styling hair. She really listened to what I wanted and what worked for me. The cut is awesome and pretty easy for me to work with which is always helpful!
The salon is gorgeous and very comfortable, and I ended up spending more on their awesome products than I did on my awesome cut! Ill be back for sure!

so. Heart and Soul in general. it’s THE place to get your hair did in Abq. Just sayin.
now. Ian. Ian does not just DO hair. Ian is an artiste. But more so than being an artiste, Ian is a listener and a communicator. He is like the hair whisperer.
My hair is very difficult, and I am very difficult. We are not an easy combination. But Ian GETS my hair. And when I’m all like «make it big and paint it RED» Ian is very good at explaining why that is a terrible idea (super diplomatically) and coming up with something even more awesome.
It’s pretty rare to find a stylist as intelligent and respectful of his craft as Ian is. You can be sure that anything he does to your hair is carefully considered and sure to work with your hair color, texture, face shape, complexion, etc. And it will also be an amazing interpretation of the desired look you came in with.
When I lived in San Francisco I never had any one more talented than Ian. And when I move to LA, I’m totally going to fly back ALL THE TIME cause FINALLY I’ve found a hair dresser that makes my hair look flawless and expensive and fucking hot.
PS Shout out to everyone else there too. The receptionists are super sweet and awesome, and in general everyone is wonderful.

I’m a picky person when it comes to my hair and Mario at Heart & Soul found a wonderful balance of stylish yet easy to maintain.
Originally, I moved to Albuquerque from a big (big!) city with great salons and was apprehensive about having my hair cut here… because, well, you never know.
So I’d go 6 – 8 months without a haircut to return to my old hairdresser. But after a thyroid disaster with large amounts of hair falling out and feeling like a just looked awful, I made a last minute appointment at the hair salon near my house. When I explained my predicament on the phone to the receptionist, she suggested Mario and I was in within the next few hours.
I explained my fine, thin hair to Mario, along with my medical hair loss and he knew just what to do. I initially had wanted to just cut the bulk of the length of my hair off, but Mario convinced me he could keep some of my length (a little above the shoulder) while still keep a fuller, healthier «hair» appearance… WITHOUT huge maintenance. Is it possible? Yes… and now I return for cuts to maintain the health of my hair.
The atmosphere is super-​friendly — the stylists chat with you in a friendly, non-​intrusive manner, and all seem to have a good rapport with clients and others who work there. They offer you a drink when you come as well — always good.
Why 4 stars then? Location is great, but parking in the area can often be a pain in the ass. While they have a few «designated spaces,» these can fill up quick during peak times. Also, for Albuquerque, the prices are high… for someone without «hair issues» like me, maybe you don’t need to go as often, or see someone as skillful as Mario, but to me he’s worth it.
My mother once told me it’s acceptable to spend more money on three things — good shoes, good handbags, and good haircuts. I follow those religiously and also add good sunglasses living here in Albuquerque. As a result of this, I recommend Mario at Heart & Soul for those «good haircuts» we all need from time to time.

Heart and Soul had good reviews on Unilocal,was close to our hotel, and could take an appointment for highlights the next day, so it was a winner.
I don’t know much about the Nob Hill area, but it reminded me a lot of SF and I loved the black and white décor inside the salon.
I was given an appointment with Carmel, and she was great. She was very easy to chat with, but not extremely chatty that you felt you needed to be talking every second. I told her I wanted highlights like my natural highlight, so she matched it, and went at the foil. I am only going with 4 stars because an hour and a blow dry later, the highlights did not match my natural one, and seeing how I wanted to go for more of a change, I was a bit bummed. However, I do really like how it turned out. It is very subtle and it will now be fairly easy to grow out. She even admitted it turned out different than she even expected, so I appreciate the honesty.
If I am in the area and need a cut I will definitely come back to Carmel and see the awesome tattoos she has added to her half sleeve :)
