First time I went to Laru Ni Hati, McKinley cut my hair. She did a great job on my long, curly, very thick(read: not easy to cut well) hair. She was also very sweet, friendly, and gentle. The next time I made an appointment it was with Dyan. McKinley was on maternity leave. Dyan was beyond rude. She did not greet me, but more or less smirked at me, and it only got worse. I thought about walking out with wet, uncut hair, but thought it would be so catty to do so. I wish I had done it anyway. Dyan layered my hair after I told her not to. The worst part was how unprofessional and rude her behavior was. Does this woman want to lose customers? Because of her, I have switched to another salon and stylist.

Brandon has been doing my hair for several years now and I have never been disappointed. Different styles over different years, and he hasn’t missed a beat. They are always friendly and have one of the best Salon Concepts in the city. The prices are verry affordable too.

This salon is a unique ABQ experience. The ambience alone is worth a trip. I went with an open mind had a fantastic time and the best haircut I’ve ever gotten. It may not be for you if you want a corporate experience, but if you are willing to work with the artists here you won’t be disappointed.

First, All the negative reviews I see on here I feel is because people are just umm, well we’ll just leave it there. I’ve always passed by this salon, but ASSumed it was too expensive by the ambiance, being in Nob Hill, yada yada yada, my list of NO’s were endless. Let me just say that I was so wrong(which is rare), & I am so glad that I was. After reading the reviews(both good and bad on Unilocal) I made a last minute appointment today(literally, like 1 hour before I went to get my hair cut), and met with Brandon who gave me an AMAZING cut. I asked for someone who specializes in pixie cuts. I was advised that Toney and Brandon are«the man». I was not disappointed. My haircut, and my complimentary beverage came out to a whopping 37.00. Like really? I was expecting to pay around $ 60(without the tip). While You wait: They have a wine bar, beer, pool table, and outdoor seating. While You wait: Complimentary beverage, or $ 1.00 off an alcoholic drink, or free wine tasting. They take their last cut @ 9PM. Seriously! I will so book a late appointment so I have an excuse to hit the lounges and bars with my «Freshly stepped out of a Salon» look. #FABULOUS Don’t tell my stylist, but I think I have found a new stylist *Insert Winky Face*. I will definitely be returning.

Brandon gave me great suggestions and a great cut. Love it. The balayage is great too — softly growing back hair to natural color. Will definitely go back there. Enjoyed the atmosphere, the cold brew coffee too! Also liked that they call and confirm your appointment the day before!

Went in yesterday to check if the salon did«dusting”(a certain way to trim hair). I like to think of myself as a very friendly, nice person. So I was surprised when I walked over to the receptionist(a brunette girl with glasses) to ask if they did dusting and she grumpily told me that haircuts started at $ 40. I asked her again and if she knew what dusting was(wondering about a TRIM) and she snapped«of course». I was shocked at how incredibly rude she was and I still don’t think she knew what I was asking about. After such a rude, unpleasant experience with her, I definitely will not come back here. I have told all the military wives I know about my experience and it has also turned them off to the salon. I’m hoping management can do something about their face of the company. The receptionist is as far as I got.

I rarely feel compelled to write reviews like this, but in this case I have to make an exception. My appointment was cancelled because the stylist didn’t even know she was scheduled to work today. This was to be my first appointment in this salon after doing homework in looking for one that seemed to be a good fit for me. Sadly, it was also my last as I am absolutely disinclined to give this salon another chance. There are situations that can’t be helped like illness or family emergencies, but not knowing one is scheduled is not going to cut it with a new client. I was wanting to cut my hair short, but it’s Sunday so not many other top notch places open. I hope I don’t lose my nerve before I can get in somewhere else. One star for the receptionist I spoke with who seemed genuinely apologetic. She had called, but I hadn’t checked my messages yet so that was my fault.

Brandon has cut my hair and colored my roots twice, and I’ve loved the results both times. I have very thick, slightly wavy hair and I’ve struggled to find someone who could cut it well. Brandon’s are the best cuts I’ve had in years, after visiting multiple salons in Albuquerque and elsewhere. He also dyed my roots to perfectly match my hair. Such a joy to find someone so good. The salon itself is a lot of fun — great beer and espresso. They have good products, but they don’t push you to buy them. UPDATE — got another great cut and color from Brandon today. He is smart, friendly, very skilled, and takes the time to listen and do a really good job. Thank you!

Make an appointment at your own risk. I made an appointment only to arrive 10 min early and find out that whomever took my information didn’t enter it correctly. So I used my very valuable day off of work to show up for a hair cut and get turned away. They offered to let someone else cut my hair, but it would have cost me MORE. Totally unprofessional, I’ll never be coming back here. I suggest you look elsewhere for people who know how to run a business.

I called the day before and set an appointment with Brandon for the next night(they take hair appointments till 8:45!). My family played at the pool table while we waited, which was a fun touch. I did not get a chance to try the food, but they offered me a free drink while I got my hair cut. I have had 3 terrible haircuts in the last two years so I brought pictures of the long hair look I was wanting to achieve. Brandon did an amazing job and I am so happy to have found someone who knows what they are doing! I would recommend Brandon to anyone. Can’t wait to go back and try the Cuban food!

Amazing salon! I am consistently visiting at the last minute with barely more than a wisp of an idea of what I want. Every stylist is filled with suggestions based upon my ideas, and I have never left unhappy or feeling like I did not receive my money’s worth. Not only are the services to die for, but everyone is so nice and they offer free coffee with your service.

Worst $ 52 haircut(including beers(full disclosure)) I’ve ever had. Let me explain; Cute girls, beer, and TV’s. How could one go wrong? The cute girls are mime like rather than conversational and they make you feel like you’re bothering them for being there. There is no ability for them to cater to your TV desires, say ESPN, but if old 1950’s B&W movies are your thing, you’re in luck. The upside was the beer was cold, except when your hair clippings fall into your glass!!! Don’t bother!

My hair was purple when I entered and blonde when I left. Tony is a miracle worker! I highly highly recommend this salon for all your hair service needs. The drinks are good and the snacks are yummy. If you are new to the area and looking for a trustworthy salon, go here!

Please give this awesome salon a try! It’s a very unusual place, and I can recommend Mona as my favorite stylist! The entire staff will take wonderful care of you, feed you homemade food samples, and make you feel at home with sparkling water, beer, champaigne or vino. Enjoy! CJ

I love this place. Whether its for a haircut, a beer, or just a place to hang out with the staff. I’ve been coming to Laru Ni Hati for the last eight years while a student at UNM and after I graduated. Through every haircut or trim, I have always left this place more than satisfied with the end result. They listen to every detail and I also trust their handwork and creativity. I am not afraid to take a seat in the chair and say, «I want to go short, but have no direction where to go. Have at it!» The staff is very professional and always welcoming when I walk in. I am fortunate to live up the street and enjoy walking-in to grab a beer from the nice selection of drinks they offer and conversate with them. Thank you, Laru Ni Hati for your service and friendship. you hold a special place in my heart!

I appreciate a good haircut and I absolutely love coffee so to get them together in one place is a big bonus for me. On my first visit, Dyan gave me plenty of good feedback about my hair and answered a bunch of questions I had, leaving me feeling really good about my cut when I left. And don’t think you only have to go only when your hair’s running long. You can go just for coffee(I had a killer espresso) and for their Cuban food. I didn’t have a chance to test out their menu while I was there but I’ll definitely be back before my next cut to try something to eat.
