This is a very cool coffee spot In a trendy area. Just Off the busy street of Central, Michael Thomas Coffee Brewster serves many different types of tasty coffees and treats. The atmosphere is that of a library with quite work spaces and meeting rooms for small study groups. The outdoor courtyard is beautiful and tranquil. We will definitely be frequenting this spot many more times!

Wildly inconsistent. I’ve had some delicious lattes from this place, but I’ve also had ones that just tasted like milk or just like black coffee(if I’d wanted black coffee, I would’ve ordered that instead of paying $ 5 for a latte made with soy milk). It depends on the barista, I suppose – some are great, but others are… not so great. If you want to take a chance and hope that you get a decent latte, that’s your call(and I wish you the best of luck). The sour cream coffee cake(I think that’s what it’s called) is always delicious, though, so if you’re ever nearby, it’s worth a shot.

You know how most people have«their» coffee place that they go to? Well this one is mine. This is a place you can go and enjoy a cup coffee alone or with a friend. They have anything from a regular old cup of joe, to specialty coffee drinks and tea. They also have a small selection of food and desserts. My personal favorites are: a caramel latte, dark hot chocolate and some kind of magical pineapple tea. The drinks are always good. Something else that they almost always sell out of are the chocolate chip cookies. They’re basically chocolate with a little bit of cookie. There are two small rooms for seating and a front/back patio area. Where ever you choose to sit is very pleasant and has a modern feel. I love this place! I go here for any or no occasion and have fond memories here.

To be honest, I liked the ambiance better than the coffee, but for a coffee shop, that’s a big part of what you’re paying for as well. Overall pretty quiet, has a nice hang out feeling like you are at someone’s home. Overall, a great spot in Nob Hill.

They are one of the premier coffee houses in ABQ. Their coffee is always great and the staff is always friendly. The only thing to be aware of is the lack of seating. I guess a fully coffee shop is a good thing but not always easy to find a table. As it does start warming up, their outdoor patio should solve this problem.

This is a good shop. not too bad of the coffee(Don’t want to be a snob but good friend of my is a master roaster/coffee critic and I had leaned a thing or two from him), nice siting area. pretty much carried all the elements you need to have a successful coffee shop… and the friendly barista just sealed the deal(one more star). For those who need a break from Starbucks and still prefer little more established kind of coffee shop. I think you should try here.

This was my second time to try this place. It will be my last… Let me preface this with stating I am a bit of a coffee snob and I don’t go to coffee shops to order drinks with syrup of any sort. I order black coffee, usually brewed as a single serving. This coffee is not suitable for consumption without massive amounts of milk, sugar, and/or syrups! The bean was so over roasted that all you could taste was burned beans. None of the normal flavor profiles in good coffee were present. I’d put these below Starbucks dark roast(my example of what NOT to do!). They should revisit their cupping sessions and actually give these beans a chance to taste good. Now to the brewing. Mine was a 12oz pour over. She used a wave dripper and a Hario kettle(that had been sitting there a while! The water was lucky to be 190…). Sadly there was an unused scale and timer sitting right there… Watching the coffee draw down, it looked like the grind was too fine as well. The times were a little too long for 12 oz and even in spite of the horrible roast, it tasted over extracted. If they had used their timer and perhaps occasionally taste tested their final product, they’d know something was wrong. All in all, it’s really sad. It’s a nice building, a nicely done shop with some very nice equipment.

This is Michael Thomas’ second location and I am a fan of the larger space here. The shop itself is quite cute with a home-y feel and a gorgeous patio with outdoor seating. The seating inside is a bit limited, so beware during colder months. I’ve had several drinks here. Their espresso drinks seem to be hit or miss in terms of quality from one of the best lattes I’ve had to a mediocre, tepid, «mocha» that didn’t taste at all like chocolate. Where they really shine is with their large variety of house roasted coffees prepared in a variety of ways(my personal favorite is their pour over coffee). This place is definitely worth a stop, especially if you stick to their brewed coffees rather than their espresso drinks.

The coffee is ok, nothing special to be honest, the foam was weird… The place is load, not by music, because there isn’t any … People are seriously load … The loudest café I’ve been too in quite some time.

a coffee oasis. had mostly given up any hope of finding some legit coffee on this trip but figured i should at least try. friendly barista, thick microfoam rising over the top. super tasty. just what i’d expext from any decent 3rd wave coffee shop. only nitpick? the«small» cappuccino i ordered is more of a latte given amount of milk. next time ill increase the amount of coffee. — update: took away a star because after going back 2 more times and a different barista each time. count so far: 1 awesome cap 1 good but somewhat less awesome cap 1 not good cap. no microfoam and bitter shot. always friendly folk but inconsistent drinks. you might get lucky or simply crap out good luck

Perfect coffee-you won’t go back to buying coffee at the grocery store. Some pound bags of coffee go up to $ 15 which is unbelievable but I still buy my ground coffee here because of the quality and great service. Cute patio and positive ambiance. Must try if you’re in town. I started ordering online and shipping is $ 8.

Whoos donuts and good coffee. The egg nog coffee was very tasty. I had a blueberry muffin instead of a donut but it was good — microwaves to warm up your pastry!

This is a great, local coffee shop with a lot of charm. The coffee shop is located in Nob Hill and has a great menu with a wide selection of beans for any coffee enthusiast. There is plenty of seating inside and outside alike. I ordered the Nutella latte with non fat milk and no whip cream. It was good. I love the random creations they have here on their menu. My hubby ordered the maple bacon latte only to find out that they were out of the bacon. What?! So, he enjoyed his maple latte without bacon. All and all, if I lived in Albuquerque, I could definitely see me coming here more frequently.

I love this place so much! I would definitely rather go to Michael Thomas over other coffee spots in Albuquerque. The coffee is smooth and well balanced. Bakery items are okay. Nothing I can get too excited about. I usually get a bagel when I’m there, and it’s quite good. I also like the selection of beans. This is where I buy my ground coffee for my French press. Over all this place is a win. Adorable and functional outside seating as well.

This place has an unbelievable coffee selection. 30 fair trade and standard single origin coffees, 11 blends, and 6 decaf coffee options when I came in today. They brew each of these coffees at any given time by your choice of Melitta pour over or a Hario Siphon. Additionally they have an iced coffee and a cold brew available. My friend got the fair trade Guatemala and I got the Ethiopia Sidamo Peaberry. Both were delicious and well prepared. There is a nice small selection of locally sourced chocolates and pastries. They also offer a variety of unique lattes and other espresso drinks. A person I was with had an orange mocha and he really enjoyed it. There is an awesome amount of seating inside and outside. Lastly, the two staff members here were very knowledgable about the company, as well as the products that they offer. They worked quickly and were very helpful.

Very cute coffee shop. I was kind of surprised by the location as it was in what seemed to be a residential area. Street parking was a bit tight but we found a spot. They had a large selection of coffee and some of the drinks had a unique twist, including actual bacon on the maple bacon latte. My red-eye was flavorful and I was happy enough with the price. The atmosphere was also really nice. Pretty filled with food options(made by local places but not in-house) and the whole place had a nice feel. I also liked that they used manual espresso machines. That was a nice touch. I only wish we had gone when they were roasting the coffee. That would have been fun.

I haven’t had the«real» coffee drinks yet, but their flavored iced drinks put all others to shame. Awesome quiet atmosphere. I highly recommend for a date or just to hang out with a book.

Nob Hill oozes quality not quantity, so is this coffee shop vs. Starschmucks! I’m far from being a coffee connoisseur, in fact my taste buds are recovering from eating too much spicy food in the past. And I admit with no shame that it was the pastries that lured me into here more than coffee, there you have it! It saves me driving hours on the boring looking highway to Santa Fe to get a Chocolate Maven’s croissant which I had done before! See how much I love pastries?! Okay back to coffee, I ordered Mocha Olé which is mocha w/dark chocolate and red chile powder topped w/whipped cream! Hmm, probably the best coffee beverage I’ve had in a looonngg time! Richly married coffee and chocolate taste finished by the note of chile highlight, just enough not overpowering!

I love everything about these guys. Kind people, good coffee that’s hand roasted… A great vibe inside and out… And the best iced mocha this side of Okinawa. Yes I said that. The best iced mochas in the world are from Okinawa Japan… It’s their hand dried brown sugar that gives them the perfect smoky flavor. Michael Thomas’ iced mocha is almost that good. Really.

Good selection of coffee, I like the décor, this place has a trendy vibe and they play good music. It is cold outside but cozy inside. In the summer I can imagine this place being pretty cool to hang out at. They have a big glass garage door which lets in a ton of light which really adds to the décor and ambience. They probably open it up in the summer making the place awesome to sip coffee and people watch. The negatives are that while being a gourmet coffee shop the cappuccino I got while large and appreciated, the milk foam was more foam than smooth froth. It was too much. It felt more like the milk I make at home with my milk frother. Overall the cappuccino was good but not great. We ordered a delicious looking pastry that they forgot about, and when we got them they were cold and we had to heat them in the microwave. Which to me is just odd. I go to coffee shops because I’m a coffee snob, I’ve been to coffee shops around the world and have never seen a place that has microwaves that you have to use yourself for your food. Part of the attraction to coffee shops is great beverages, atmosphere and service. Hard to do that when you are popping it in the micro. The pastry was good though even though we nuked it. Remove the stupid toasters and microwaves and the place gets another star.

So, this is the second location of this awesome local coffee shop. Probably some of the best coffee in ABQ. The selection of both regular and decaf coffee beans is excellent. Any coffee, drink of course. And their pastries and snacks are awesome as well! This is a really great space to hang out in, either inside or outside. In summer, the courtyard is perfect, with plenty of shade. Sign up for their frequent shoppers card, and make sure they give you a free small coffee when you buy a pound of beans. This is our go-to coffee shop, for sure!

I know I’m more than a little late in the game to be sayin’ Ohhhh, so that’s the Big Deal. First sip of a Nutella latte, my taste buds were absolutely lit. These beans, alongside the preparation that goes into a great artisan cup, have been the buzz of Burque for a long time now. Now that it’s conveniently located in Nob Hill, I had a chance to taste the Big Deal and yeah, I get it. Absolutely wonderful coffee. The space is lovely, too. While the indoor main room appears a little cramped in tables per capita, there’s a neat Lobo lair next to it, and the patio is the real draw here. The great weather in ABQ makes this new café shine. Add some incredible bakery case items from Hartford Square(#bestofburque) and the Chocolate Maven, and you have a recipe for serious success. Fantastic art decking the walls, too. Alas, I’ll admit one qualm, though: location. Silver avenue doesn’t need another great café; Limonata is right up the street. I really hope the two can coexist because it would be a shame to lose either venue. Should this café ever consider a move, I’d tell ‘em to Go West, somewhere near Girard. That end of the ‘hood needs good caffeine and so do the students that regularly chow down at The Shop. So hey guys, in the meantime, play nice, will ya? And thanks for coming to this end of the city, MT.

This is the second location of Michael Thomas in Albuquerque and a fantastic addition to the Nob Hill coffee scene. Michael Thomas brings their own line of single source in house roasted beans along with perfect execution on the espresso machine. They immediately won a customer for life when they did not ask what size cappuccino I would like, then delivered a perfectly executed cup. Unusual options like cold drip and siphon-made coffee are available here and worth a shot if you haven’t had a chance to try them. Food options from Hartford Square are available from a case. The environment is laid back and welcoming with lots of places to sit — a meeting room, outdoor tables, and fireside seating. A pleasant place to spend an afternoon.
