I had the hankering for tacos, and I was in a rush, so I didn’t stay around to try the red chicken which is supposed to be the #1 awesomemess.

Always a pleasure to grab a bite, whether I’m by myself or with friend. Great service and prices and the comIda(food) is always yummy! I’ve been patronizing Rincon Del Pollo for at least five years. Hardly out towards this part of ABQ but when I am, I’m there for breakfast or lunch.

I gave this place a stellar review initially but I feel that I must update it. Don’t get me wrong, the food here is amazing, but sadly I cannot say the same for their integrity when ringing people up. The last time I dined here with my family the price seemed abnormally higher than the menu stated. I figured that it was all on my head and let it be since they do charge for extras like cheese on your burrito. Today, however, I ate there and seen the sweet little old lady that runs the counter over charging me. I ordered a chicharron burrito with green, cheese on top(which is a dollar extra) and a soda. I seen the lady charge me 5.69 for the burrito then 1.69 twice and 1.00. So I should only have three charges right? Instead there is four. I ask her about it and she acts like she doesn’t understand what I mean when I ask for an itemized receipt. Overall, this may be the last time that I dine here. I do not appreciate dishonesty. If you do choose to dine here, really watch and question what your are being charged for.

Nice prices and the sweetest little old lady that runs this divey little joint will keep you coming back. Not to mention the food is pretty good. When I say divey, I’m not kidding. They’ve been in this location for ten years but the building is much, MUCH older. Did I mention it’s little. Walk in and you can see where an addition was built on to the dining area making room for a total of less than a dozen tables. We ordered the half chicken with red chili and a handful of shredded beef tacos. To start we had some of her homemade chips and salsa. The salsa was HOT. So hot in fact that my New Mexican native girlfriend said it made her feel like a gringo. And she loves the hot stuff! The beef tacos were bigger than I expected with a fair amount of meat and toppings. Top it off with some of their salsa and you’ll be good to go. For less than two bucks per taco they rank right up there in my top ten. Chicken, rice, and beans like mi abuela used to make. The red chili that smothered the chicken wasn’t necessarily hot enough but still tasted good. Served this with some homemade(?) tortillas, your choice, corn or flour. Hard to beat at less than $ 8.00. Everything about this little place is quaint and pleasant. From the simple flavors of the homestyle food to the cute little señora that takes your order, buses your table and gets your refills. I am a fan and I will be back.

So I love this place but I’m not sure how often I can go. This place reminds me of my mom(RIP)…something about the décor and the way the food is cooked. I walked in and my first words were — if my mom would have ever owned a little restaurant, this is the way it would look. It was bittersweet. I had the last of her horchata of the day. YUMYUMYUM! I had some beef tacos — shredded beef! I have this thing about ground beef tacos — I don’t know what it is but I just prefer shredded and I’m so glad they were. The salsa was on point with a nice little kick. I had a second helping of it. Tasty! The beef was a little salty for my liking(i under-salt everything) but the lettuce, tomato and cheese that garnished the top helped to balance it out. Best part — the shells of the tacos were homemade. I love that!
