Just so everyone is aware this is an Asian fusion restaurant – Chinese and Japanese cuisine. Which is perfect since Mom likes Chinese more than Japanese and Dad couldn’t care less. So they(parents) have been asking me to make the trek across town for dinner here. Let me start off be saying it’s worth it. The menu for both delicacies is pretty varied We decided to start with tempura vegetable appetizer. Light crisp and temperature hot. Very tasty way to start. I had the miso soup which was savory and dotted with tofu. Mom and dad had the hot and sour – it must have been delicious as there was no talking Mom had the Kung Pao chicken. Which she ordered mild – our server brought chili on the side so that made mom very happy. This was an enormous portion of food.(Doggie bag was take home) Dad and I needed to have sushi. I thank you fellow Unilocalers, I ordered what seemed to be the most popular rolls. Spider-soft shell crab – this is usually my favorite. It was excellent but out other rolls blew this crab out if the water! Flamingo roll-shrimp tempura inside and tuna on top. The tuna was melt in your mouth. Buddha belly was amazing. The sashimi inside was a gain like buuuhhtttaa. I really loved the row on top. It added a briny pop to the fish. I cannot wait to return. I will only order the sashimi style rolls or just sashimi. The fish was cut perfectly. Not too thick not too thin. Thanks for the check in bonus! We did see lots of take out AND a delivery guy. What delivery other than pizza in the Q!!!

great place to get a sushi fix that is not overly expensive. It is kind of a hole in the wall restaurant and the inside could look better.

This little place is amazing in terms of food. I want to give them 4.5 stars. We had four sushi rolls, Buddha belly, crunchy, nob hill, and another that is slipping my mind. Three I loved, the nob hill I did not because it was cream cheese overload! We got a free dessert, which was a nice touch, for«the wait.» We weren’t waiting long, so I’m not sure why we received a free dessert, but I’ll take it. The staff were all very nice and professional. The only reason they didn’t get 5 stars was the atmosphere of the restaurant. I think of quiet, intimate spaces when I think of sushi on a Saturday night, and this is not that kind of place. TV, completely open room with no seperation(kids were throwing food on the ground near us because the tables are right next to each other), really red walls and obnoxiously bright recessed canned lights. If this type of atmosphere doesn’t bother you, this is the place for you! Overall not too bad a place.

Average quality sushi with above average quantities. I’d give it a 3.5 if I could. They have a TV and you can ask them to play your favorite show or the game if you sit at the sushi bar. Arigato!

We came here for a second dinner 30 minutes before closing time and they were able to still sit us. We ordered the ceviche and the chirashi. We are from Dallas and there’s a lot of good sushi there, so we didn’t expect much coming here. But it is not bad if you are not spoiled by good sushi elsewhere. The value is pretty good. I am surprised you get a 15% discount by just checking in on Unilocal. The ceviche is not the typical ceviche. It’s basically a variety of raw fish with greens, topped with their eel sauce and mayo. It was ok. I wanted something refreshing. I think the chirashi was a good value. It was big with a lot of rice. I’ll give it a 3 because of the service but the food is mediocre.

We were driving by and seen the reviews on Unilocal and thought we would give them a shot, we called 45 min ahead of time and were told that the food would be ready in 20. We got to the restaurant to pick up our food order and it was not ready. We stood there 20 additional minutes waiting on food. Pretty disappointed but after eating the food, we were happy. Had the dragon roll, Eskimo roll, hard rock and crunch roll. At the end of it all, this place was worth the wait.

I love the TNT sushi roll delicious! I love the almond crusted dishes they all are fabulous. The prefect ending to any meal here is the Chocolate Trilogy yum yum! The customer service is exceptional also. You will enjoy the whole experience.

Don’t be put off by the location, it really is a hidden gem nestled between Albertsons and a dry cleaner. We are always greater promptly and with a smile. My favorite is their unagi and spicy tuna roll so that is a staple each visit. If you aren’t a fan of raw, branch out to a tempura roll, deep fried goodness! Most of their other rolls have various sashimi which to me is always what I crave. It can get busy on weekends after 5 so plan accordingly. Give them a try. If you have room to spare after the feast venture to try the green tea ice cream.

Have eaten here numerous times now and they have never disappointed. I like trying different restaurants, but if it comes to Japanese in ABQ, I think I will stick to this one. The Unagi(eal) especially was great today

This is our most favorite Japanese restaurant so far with my hubby. It’s located in Northeast we have our dinner here 2−3x a month. Our dine in experience are very much enjoyable, love their Miso soup –authentic taste and I can give them 5 stars for it! Bento box teriyaki, bbq, California rolls and seaweed salad are the fave menu we always ordered.

Comfortable restaurant. Service was excellent. Saki(clear) was delicious. The Bento BBQ pork needed more BBQ flavor. The Hunan chicken dish was well prepared, but needed more spice. Perhaps best to order Sushi over Asian dishes. Thanks for reading. The Bike Chaplain

So I usually end up and Hayashi or Azuma when I grab sushi in Albuquerque. Occasionally, I’ll try a new spot hoping to find a hidden gem. First impression of Sushiya was nice, a little family owned restaurant in the NE Heights. Lot’s of patrons during the dinner rush, quiet atmosphere and a friendly staff. Facilities could use a little finish work, especially the rest room. We ordered four rolls and a bento box. Although the menu indicated tamiko eggs, no lie — two of my rolls were drenched in tamiko. Specialty rolls were a bit too small for the price, although the ingredients were top quality. My daughter prefers her maki rolls on the sweeter side. Bento box was steak teriyaki. Steak was skimpy, mostly veggies. Shrimp tempura was not de-veined. Overall, not a bad experience but for the price would have opted for Azuma.

Why are there so many Japanese restaurants in Albuquerque that serve cuisine other than Japanese? Am I the only one who finds it strange to see hot and sour soup and kung pao chicken on the menu of a «Japanese» restaurant? That said, I come here pretty regularly since it is in my hood. In any larger city, the food at Sushiya would be pretty meh, but since we are in Albuquerque, it is okay. I have tried ordering the sushi here but the fish really isn’t fresh. So I have been sticking to cooked fish and items from the kitchen.

This is definitely some of the best sushi in town. Their rolls are huge! The service is great and I like the feel of atmosphere. It’s a small place with a comfy feel. The prices are about average to other sushi places here in town. The fish tastes fresh! Delish.

I enjoyed my lunch at Sushiya today. A friend and I ordered the Kung Pao chicken lunch($ 6.95) and the«pick 2» sushi lunch special($ 8.95). The Kung Pao chicken was hot and fresh. There was the perfect amount of food. I meant to take photos but I just started eating right away and forgot :(the lunch came with soup, rice, an egg roll and an orange. I ordered the shrimp tempura roll and it was a good sized roll. I think the 2 rolls for $ 8.95 was an excellent deal and I will be back. I have a couple sushi places that I like in town but this one is now on my go to list. I’ll try to remember pictures next time!

Wow– I don’t know what the person calling this«americanized» is thinking– we are in America, the California roll was begun in San Fran. … «rolls» as they are now are served all over the world– even in Spain you can get a cali roll… And how the roll has modernized is a new art form. If sushi stayed like it was in 1910– Jiro would have never been the man he is– that’s how I feel about Sushiya– modern, upbeat, and in my top Abq sushi joints. The establishment is clean, nicely lit and has a very fresh yet relaxed Asian zing to it. Most places a re drab and dark, Sushiya goes the opposite– light so you can see the quality sushi. I was slightly disappointed this go around– the Tuna was clean and well proportioned, the several different rolls we ordered were put together well– chef had good knife skills and the fish was all fresh cut. we’re it was off was in the technique of the tempura– must have been a new chef because the rice layer was far too thin and it was obviously left too long– the tempura was soaked through the rice and the salmon inner was cooked beyond well– so it was just chewy and blamd. The rice as well was not washed properly I don’t think– it was not seasoned in the least and you could taste it was a store bought cheap rice. So unfortunately this time around it was not the standard it used to be– but hopefully it was just an off night because typically this is a sure shot quality establishment. Oh– and to the one who doesn’t know about green chile— it’s called marketing– playing to your clientel… and Sushiya makes a very very good green Chile roll!!!

The best in Albuquerque. Don’t let the location turn you off. When you walk inside it is a typical sushi restaurant. They sit you down right away, have great lunch specials for non sushi eaters. Delicious sushi rolls with generous cuts, and they take appearance of sushi to the next level. Sometimes the rolls have lights it’s like a little sushi rave. You get the choice of hot n sour, egg drop, or miso soup which is a huge plus. Sashimi is also amazing! I recommend the caterpillar roll, flamingo roll, dragon roll, basically any roll.

The food: The sushi was good. It’s your standard sushi but I think it lacked uniqueness in taste. Our shrimp tempura sushi had those crispy flakes on top and it tasted funny. It’s not supposed to taste the way it tasted today. Every now and then I got the taste of staleness. The other sushi was good. We also ordered the Chocolate Trilogy which is a mousse type dessert. It was DELICIOUS! Must try!!! The service: our server was attentive and nice.

Great quality fish found in the middle of the desert! Got takeout here the other night while staying over in ABQ to see a show– had hamachi, salmon, rainbow roll, edamame, side of(sushi!) rice. Price was very reasonable compared to other cities. Quality of fish was great. Serving portions were generous. I would try this place again to see how they do in person.
