My first experience of Indian food. The food was really good and the service was tip top.

Solid Indian food. Service was top notch. In had the Chicken Tikka Masala(house specialty) and Garlic Naan bread. Both came out warm, but not hot; however before it got too cool, I had to eat relatively fast. My only gripe was that the Masala was a bit on the salty side. Gravy was nice and chicken was cooked just right, but tasted a bit too much like someone had decided to put some extra salt into the batch. Nonetheless, I’ll go back.

How refreshing, extensive vegetarian options on the buffet! Everything we had was delicious and well seasoned. They also offer a discount if you are from out of state. Attentive service as well. highly recommend!

Excellent buffet. Many diverse choices both vegetarian and non vegetarian. Waitstaff attentive and quite helpful. Best Indian food buffet I have found lately. Interesting décor and ambiance. Pricing competitive with other buffets.

I was here on a vacation with my brother and we both love Indian food, so we stopped here and ate. The tea is excellent and the food is good. the service was excellent, but they did run out of tea, it was 2:30 in the afternoon. I’ll be back when in Albuquerque.

Wow, the food here is really good. Ive only done the buffet but excellent selection and great service. The food has absolutely no spice heat level which is a fussy dissapointment but its very flavorful Plenty of meat and vegetarian options. Dont skip the homemade icecream and pudding for dessert.

So delicious… So full… I don’t think I’ll ever go to that other Indian place’s buffet again. I won’t say its name but it’s on Carlisle. By Smiths. Bonus points for Bollywood on the teevee.

Its a relative to locale 5 stars. Great buffet. Very good veg selection(dosas!). Equally good non-veg. Kheer was a nice finish. Only minor downside was spice level was lowered for american palate(ordering from menu would probably remedy that.). And chai came unsweetened. Picky, picky. Attentive staff. Buffet selections constantly freshened. And the price is right!

Love this place! Here’s why: Nicest staff. They are always great to me and my family. Great food! Butter chicken is amazing! Best Indian in town. Okay atmosphere. Only gave it 4⁄5 because the kitchen doesn’t look the cleanest from what I have seen when the swinging doors are open. That being said I have never gotten sick from them. Not even a little.

Ordered carry-out non veg Thali, charged our debit card twice then added back the 10% for out-of-state discount that is advertized on their website AFTER we left the restaurant. THEN forgets our rice! $ 46.46 later, the Tikka was salty and what good is Tikka without rice? Food is not that great either. I’ve had much better for less $$ and even my homemade Chicken Tikka Masala is better. Little snooty server whose favorite restaurant is In and Out Burger? Find a new line of work because obviously customer service is NOT for you! Never again! If you notice, the positive reviews are regarding the lunch buffet not ordering from the menu. Waste of our time correcting the bank mistake and money! NOTWORTHIT

If you want an array of top-notch Indian food in one place, at one meal, this is it! Their buffet isn’t cheap(lunch is $ 9.99), but personally, I find it well worth it. They have a table each of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. Several lentil and paneer dishes on veggie side are absolutely fragrant and richly seasoned. On the meat side, the tandoori specialties don’t disappoint. Always has several chutneys(I love the coconut version) and salad makings. The fresh Naan bread is delicious. A good array of teas and cold drinks, too. Always a craving I need to satisfy every couple of months. :)

Firstly the good things — they customized their ‘veggie meal for 2′ into non veg for one and veg for one as my wife is a vegetarian and I’m not. Our waiter was pretty responsive and nice and did customize the spice level to what we wanted… another good thing is that they serve a dinner buffet on the weekends which is a pretty rare thing to find especially in an Indian restaurant On the down side, i ordered a lamb curry that i felt wasn’t that great, they were a little bit pricey and their strip mall location isn’t the best. The place is also huge and it might mean slowing down of service in peak hours

We ate at Taaj for lunch yesterday and I think I am still full! Their buffet was really impressive. Good selection of the typical Indian buffet and some new ones. Plus, they had a nice amount of vegetarian options. The food was very good, and there was a lot of turnover so it was also fresh. Some of the sauces were a bit rich for my taste(but that is typical for me) and would have benefited from some spice. That is my usual complaint about Indian buffets; they cater to the lowest common denominator with heat. There was a also a large dessert selection including Gajar Ka Halwa which you don’t typically see on a buffet. This, along with the rice pudding, were good but lacked the characteristic cardamom flavor I often associate with these dishes. The price was on the high end for what I like to spend on lunch but was a steal for the amount of food. My wife and I basically ate one meal yesterday! I will certainly keep Taaj in mind if I am craving Indian buffet but I would have preferred a(lot) more spice.

This was my first time trying Indian food in a long while. I love that they have a buffet here for lunch which makes it fast and convenient. The servers were very attentive and we were seated right away so five stars for that. Also they had a great selection of vegetarian and non vegetarian options. Everything I tried I really truly enjoyed. I just had to knock off a star because at the end of my meal, my friend informed me that there was a spider in his smoothie yuck! The server did the right thing and didn’t charge for the smoothie.

Not bad. Not great but def not bad for Albuquerque. The Pakora on the buffet was dry and chewy. The Butter chicken and most things on the buffet were not spicy at all and not very heat hot either. They need to work on their heating tables. Great iced tea.

The food: We ordered our favorites — Chicken Tikka Masala(comes with rice), garlic naan, chicken pakora, and mango lassi. The food was delicious! You can’t go wrong with those orders. The sauce on the tikka masala was perfect for dipping bread and the pakora was great. The naan was freshly made and wonderful! The service: They were attentive. Overall, this place serves delicious food. Til’ next time!

Caveat: I have only been to Taaj Palace once, and that was for their weekend lunch buffet. A lunch buffet is never an ideal way to rate and review a restaurant. I will try to update this once I go there for dinner and order off the menu. In general, I am not a huge fan of Indian lunch buffet. The food tends go be bland, and the selections predictable. Plus, I tend to be a glutton, overeat, and spend the rest of the day regretting that gluttony. So why did I make my way to Taaj Palace for the lunch buffet? Well, I have been on a quest to find South Indian food in Albuquerque, or in all of New Mexico for that matter. I tried Annapurna, only to realize that while the names of some of the dishes might be south indian, the flavors most certainly are not. I went to AM Spices of India, and tried out their version of Dosas. Then I heard that Taaj Palace has dosas on their weekend lunch buffet. And so I found myself trudging across town to try out these dosas. Dosa, for those unfamiliar with south indian food, are rice crepes. They are crispy yet substantial, absolutely delicious, and usually eaten with sambar [a type of lentil soup], and a variety of chutneys. So back to Taaj Palace. They indeed did have dosa on their buffet. Considering they were not fresh off the griddle, and instead had been sitting in the buffet, they were pretty decent. I certainly appreciated having the option of eating them! The coconut chutney that came with it was well prepared and quite tasty. They even got the sambar right… almost! After developing the flavors well, they seemed to have added a large serving of sugar! This unfortunately really hurt the sambar. The rest of the buffet was also quite good. They had the usuals… saag paneer, and tandoori chicken, and butter chicken, and goat curry. To their credit, however, all of these entrees were prepared well. They also had a goa fish curry that was actually very enjoyable, and also panjabi kadhi, which was a pleasure to eat. I was glad to see gajar halwa [a sweet made with carrots] on the menu along with the usual gulab jamun. Overall, this was one of the better Indian buffets I have been to in Albuquerque. The dishes were all prepared well, and they had a couple of not-so-usual items on the buffet line which made the experience worthwhile. The service was efficient if a tad impersonal. I do plan to return to try out other items on the menu.

Amazing as usual– have to say, never a bad experience, never bad food, always incredibly hot and fresh. My dad and I stopped in to get my order before going and waiting at a pizza place for about 15 minutes for his pizza– when we got back home my Butter Chicken was still hot as if it had been served maybe a few minutes earlier. Hands down the best in Abq.
