The steak sub is AMAZING. If you don’t get that & someone else in your party does, don’t take a bite unless you want to become insufferably envious.

We just ate here for the first time, and loved it!!! The owner himself brought over Christmas toys for our son to play with, and chatted with us for a few minutes. The food was ready quick, and was delicious. Staff was friendly, place was clean. We’ll be back!

We pass by this place all the time since our son’s tae kwon do place is down the road. Every time we pass it I yell out old yeller!!! Ya it’s stupid. Anyways, we finally had a chance to try this tonight. The staff is really friendly. We told them it was our first time they’re and they very graciously explained the menu and told us the differences between a torpedo and a sub. I ordered the 14in steak torpedo with natural chips, my wife gets the 7in ham torpedo with onion rings, and my son gets the 7in ham and egg sub with fries. Everything was delicious, fresh, and served fast! I was surprised the place was so empty. Though they had a steady stream of folks getting carry out. The staff was extremely friendly. The lady there gave us no attitude when my wife asked if their bread had any dairy or egg. The cashier, while new, was very friendly and helpful. The cook, who seemed like the owner, was nice as well. He even came out while we were eating too check on us. He also offered to give our 12 month old son some free chopped up meat. All the booths were very clean and the Beatles décor and music was nice. We could easily see making this a regular stop after our son’s tae kwon do class.

I’ve been hoping to hit up The Yeller Sub for awhile now, and finally the timing was right for some late afternoon sandwiches! I had seen the great reviews, so I was expecting quite a bit. The service was as good as advertised, the woman taking the orders was very knowledgeable and she was up-front with the fact that they were down a person that night and apologized. I appreciated the forwardness. I got the pastrami sandwich with all the fixings plus a few more. I wanted it toasted for the cheesy goodness to be all over the place. It took awhile to get our sandwiches but as I said they were down a person that night so no worries. The(very) well priced sandwich was a pretty big hit! It wasn’t the best sandwich I had ever had but for less than 5 bucks, this 7″ sandwich was very filling and the toppings are tasty! The meat stands out as the centerpiece of the sandwich too which is how it’s supposed to be but unfortunately some places can’t deliver this. I can definitely see myself coming back here when I need to fill my belly up for a great price.

The Yeller Sub, Albuquerque, NM — This is an amazing, local, hole in the wall sort of sub sandwich shop. It’s very fresh, and their homemade Italian dressing is great. The homemade fries are really good too. While I wasn’t really a fan, a customer in there told me to try them with the cheese sauce. It was a little too nacho cheese-y for me, but I could see the appeal for sure. The staff was incredibly friendly, I don’t remember the man that helped me, but he was one of the most pleasant employees I have seen anywhere and he really helped lean me in the right direction. I had a hot sub, but they have cold too. There’s a ton of options, and everything is fresh and made in front of you(well, it’s more in the back part, but still). They have lots of ice cream too, so it’s a nice place to go grab a quick bite to eat as well as grabbing a quick, delicious dessert! The place is seriously old school and decorated with old Beatles memorabilia, which is kind of nice for a more nostalgic feel. I haven’t had a chance to come back, but I know I will at some point. You can’t miss out on this shop if you love sandwiches!

I LOVE this staff. The food is always delicious and fresh. The prices are great, portions are great, everything. Great. Their homemade chips are heavenly. The staff is so friendly and helpful. They serve the food to your table, bring you any condiments needed, and give you refills during your visit. Did I mention they are NOT waiters? They are the people up front that take your order! They are awesome. I appreciate the great food and even better staff.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the ingredients. The staff was very friendly and checked on my at least 5 times during my hour lunch visit, I don’t get that at a many of the waiter served restaurants I go to yet alone a sub shop. If you are in the area, make sure you stop in.

I’ve lived in Albuquerque for a little over five years. I always noticed Yeller Sub, singing The Beatles song in my head as I drove by, thinking nothing of it. I finally decided to give this place a go one day, and an so happy I did! To begin with, the cashier asked me if I had been there before, to which I responded. He then proceeded to explain the menu to me and asked if I had any questions. I ordered a turkey sub with the bread hallowed out(to save on some carbs since I was splurging on fries!). He made sure the cook understood this special request. I was then torn between ordering the waffle fries and chips. I asked him for his recommendation to which he quickly responded, «try the fries!» My order was out relatively quickly — less than 10 minutes and well worth the wait. The sandwich was nice and soft, with potent onions, yum! The fries were hot, fresh and super crispy. I will definitely be returning here soon! Be sure to check out all of their old school décor and memorabilia! This little place has so much character!

I support anyone’s decision to try this place. The staff is so friendly and helpful, and the food is good. I’m impressed with how much effort they put into each customer. I had their veggie sub with avocado and a side of their homemade chips! The atmosphere is pretty cool too!

You ever leave a place and you just don’t know if what you are was good. Or maybe you were just very hungry. Well I had really high expectations because you Unilocalers REALLY build up a place. Well I had the steak torpedo… I wish there was more vinaigrette on it. Which must mean it wasn’t that good if I really wanted more vinaigrette. Well semi lie the steak was tasty but covered in too much cheese. I did like how they bake their bread mmm homemade. I will be back so that means for now I will keep this interview short and well semi sweet.

Steak & egg sub is a tasty protein bomb. It’s basic but satisfying and tasty. Haven’t tried anything else I like it too much.

Back again, but this time a new cashier… damn, just as friendly as the first one. Then, after I order & sit down, someone else walks by and notices I don’t have a drink, so he asked if he could get me a water or anything else… wow, service is clearly emphasized here. Fast forward to the end of the meal, the original cashier was right on top of my empty basket and politely asked if there was anything he could get me. Now lets get to what you came for: the nitty gritty is that the sandwich is just ridiculous(ly good) but this time I tried the waffle fries, as approx 40% of Unilocalers mentioned that they are bomb. They’re not. they’re basically nuclear(or nuke-U-ler, if you want to pronounce it like a former president ;). serious, I used to think that chik fil a’s waffle fries were the best anywhere– I’m pretty sure these not only give them a run for their money, but actually blow them out of the water, holy cow! not a spot of grease anywhere, perfectly crispy, BIG!!!, and just flavorful as all heck! Sadly my waistline is not going to like me if i keep coming here, but those criss cut fries are simply like the blue crystal to me~ One other item of note: I realized after the 2nd bite that my sandwich had a bit of kick… and then i remembered ordering green chile. Opened up the sanny and there it was: REAL green chile, big honking 3/8″ diced chile, and it had some oomph! Apparently they refuse to use that sissy canned stuff around here. Bravo for doing it right, 505 style! Last note: free wifi! brought my laptop and finished an hr’s worth of homework over the best sandwich in Abq. Talk about catering to the students. Thankfully for us regulars, it isn’t overrun by students :)

The Yeller Sub is near my work and I decided to drop by for lunch today. The moment I walked in I was greeted by a friendly gentleman working the front counter. He was efficient and kind. He also did an excellent job at offering add ons such as fries and a drink. I appreciated that. This place is adorable and has ample seating. They also serve ice cream. The crisscut fries were cooked perfectly and my torpedo was very yummy. Give it a try and you will not be disappointed.

I actually came here because I wanted a malt, and the sandwiches sounded tasty. Boy are they tasty. The sub rolls are made in house and it shows, they are chewy, fresh tasting, not stale and crusty at all(*cough*SUBWAY*cough*) and the person working there was so nice to us! He greeted us as soon as we walked in and explained the menu. I got the«on deck» torpedo which is turkey and ham, with provolone cheese, all the garnishes, and I added green chiles because I’m obsessed with them and I need to eat them on everything… whoo they were spicy but it was delicious! I also got a malt made with double fudge brownie ice cream and it was the answer to my malt prayers. If I lived here I know I’d frequent that place! My BF loved it too – he got a steak torpedo and a kona coffee malt(which may sound weird but was actually quite good). Oh and the fries were really good too but after the sandwich and malt I only could eat a few of them.

This place is the anti-Subway. Quality subs and sides made and served by nice and efficient folks without visible neck tattoos. Lots of options for customization of your sandwich. I love the Pastrami Torpedo with green chile and avocado. The homemade chips(and fries) are really good. Make sure you commit someone else to split them with you, or you’ll end up eating them all. I’m told the shakes are delicious as well. Food seems to come out pretty quickly when you consider the quality.

I rolled into town, just for the night, and as always fired up the Unilocal machine to see where to get my grub on. And as I was scrolling through the food fare, the Yeller Sub popped up. Things that caught my eye: Homemade fries, homemade potato chips, ice cream, awesome subs/submarines, great customer service So I read some other poor reviews and kept those in mind… until I walked into the place and threw those opinions out. Is it an older building? Sure, as I like to call them, rustic. Is the customer service awesome? Flawless. The teenager working the counter and took my order was super nice and professional. How about the people making the food? Kickass as well and super nice. How was the food: Awesome! I got the steak submarine with the homemade potato chips and it was delicious. Advice: Ignore the critics, those are the people who complain about EVERYTHING.

wow, this is the best sandwich place ive ever been to in ABQ. My favorite now for sure. Freshly made bread, awesome food, friendly staff. What more can I ask for? Oh you must try their homemade potatoes chips, these are the stuff, put all other«home made potatoes chips» to shame.

Awesome little sub shop. Locally owned and a real community fixture. Walking in here you get a real sense of how proud they are of their operation. The walls are littered with Beatles memorabilia, as well as numerous commendations and awards from the city and other organizations. As for the food, you really can’t go wrong here. They have two versions of sandwiches: Torpedos and Subs. Put simply: the Torpedos all have the same garnish, and are more or less what you see is what you get. The Subs have something in place of the garnish, and are more complex. Both versions come in 6″ and 12″ sizes. I always go Sub, for what it’s worth. Friendly service, fresh food, local business. Doesn’t get much better.

Have you ever sat down with a close friend and looked back trying to pinpoint the year that the two of you hit it off? I’m going to claim I ran across Yeller Sub around the mid 80’s so I’ve motored through a few sandwiches since then. You know, its been a good run! In fact the evolved Yeller Sub is the best its ever been. They have high standards of service, cleanliness, and sure do put together a nice Sub. It feels good to be looked after. Employees understand that here. My suggestion is that you head over and find a sandwich you like. Maybe some house made potato chips made to order as well. Yeller Sub has proven it’s reliability to me like a longtime friend. That’s why I’m very comfortable referring them to you! Now go
