Our room constantly had bugs flying around, as well as moths. It just felt dirty. We killed about a dozen small bugs/moths over the course of two nights. In addition, the bathroom had dead bugs in it when we arrived, and more seemed to appear throughout the course of our stay. To top it off, the wireless internet service was very finicky, requiring a log on every time we woke a laptop, and no login screen ever showed up for our iPads, preventing them from connecting to the internet. Finally, the TV proportions were off, making all channels appear stretched wide and distorted. And of course they locked access to any kind of TV setup, so it couldn’t be fixed. All in all a very frustrating place to stay; it’s unlikely we’d stay there again.

We arrived at 9PM to a line of folks out the door, and no one had rooms. An entire basketball team was rerouted to the hotel next-door because they did not have rooms at Hannover sold them selves. They finally found us a room two hours later in a smoking room and the AC did not work. The hotel staff is completely clueless and the manager Teagan is the worst of them all. We booked through Priceline yet she called me back a month later stating that she didn’t see any payment from us. So now it’s my job to look up my email and send her a confirmation of our payment. A total joke save yourself some time and book next-door

I’m giving this hotel one star because I can’t give it no stars. This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in! We’ve suffered through a broken closet door, repeated power failures in the bathroom and kitchen area, faulty electrical outlets, a key to the safe that requires the Incredible Hulk to remove it, a dishwasher full of dirty dishes and half full of water when we checked into the room, a broken light fixture in the kitchen, dresser drawers that won’t close, and employees who are friendly but don’t do anything about the problems. The only reason we haven’t walked out is the other hotels in the area are booked solid. Save your money, buy a tent and stay in the woods.

Clean, polite staff, breakfast selection could be better, bed a little hard, kitchen and bathroom was very clean. Downfall was you could hear the people in the room beside ours; either noisy people or the walls are too thin.

We stayed here before our flight back home. The hospitality was awesome. We live in CA. and never get this kind of treatment. I would really consider staying here again when we fly into TYS.

A wedding in east Tennessee brought me to stay at the Mainstay Suites. The location is decent among restaurants such as O’Charley’s and a local Italian joint. Maybe it was the rain when we arrived or perhaps because I was cranky from being in the car for several hours but upon approaching the front doors(they don’t have a canopy-type drive up) I feared that we were on one of those dilapidated hotel rescue shows. Sure there were plenty of coats of paint on the old place but it was evident in many areas of the hotel they had made some cosmetic upgrades. The staff was, by far, accommodating and very sweet. «Darlin’» and«Sugar Pie» rang sweetly in my ears by a staff person who was there just because she wanted to visit with her coworker. We were informed that complimentary breakfast was from 7−10a.m. and check out was at noon. Our bill was $ 89.00 total for one night and I feel that we got what we paid for. We found our room on the third floor with ease. The décor of the hallways was antiquated from the 1990’s with a coat of earth tone paint on the walls. Our room had a comfy queen-sized bed, a small kitchenette, full bathroom and Phillips flat screen. They do provide free wireless. In fact, they have about 25 different wifi connections to hook up to. The one with the most bars was what we were instructed to select, however, we never really had a great connections. Everything checked out bed bugs wise with the linens. I did happen to see the corners underneath the fitted sheet and noticed that there was dirt and grime collected. Needing a good vacuum treatment. Definitely a negative in my book and might have given me have minor anxiety about sleeping that night. Fortunately, the wedding reception libations were able to take care of that. The bathroom appeared to be recently upgraded with dark espresso cabinets and marble-like counter tops. The shower was warm and the pressure of the water was strong. Always a plus. I did notice that the toilet seat was slightly askew and the epoxy from the previous cabinets and such were evident in the bathroom. Excluding the mattress issue, it was relatively clean. The walls are mighty thin so we felt thankful that we shared one wall with the fitness center. Morning breakfast was on par with other complimentary breakfasts that I have experienced. The token waffle station was popular as always. I enjoyed a biscuit with jam which was soft and buttery. The bacon was oddly paper thin. I don’t do sausage and gravy. Sorry I can’t report about it. Coffee wasn’t too shabby either. Check out was seamless. Overall it was an «ok» experience at the Mainstay Suites.

The folks here go out of their way to help. We brought a large group here for about 10 days and I have to say that everyone of the staff I encountered are terrific. The rooms are big and clean, they really go the extra mile. Misty, Adam, & Teegan, have all been terrific; very professional and helpful. We’ve had a lot going on and these good people have made things a lot easier for us. The Mainstay is very convenient to the airport, the breakfast is actually edible and it’s an easy 30 minute drive into downtown Knoxville. Lots of restaurants are within walking distance and they gave me easy to follow directions to the Walmart where I could buy groceries, though a note to my fellow wine drinkers — Walmart only sells beer. You have to hit the liquor store for wine and booze. The suites have a full fridge with a 2 burner cooktop and a microwave. Our office is in the«condo» which is Suite 155 and that has a full oven with 4 burners. The in-room coffee machines are kind of small, we ended up buying a full-size one because the lobby coffee could be better tasting(stronger maybe?) but these are small things for improvement. I’d prefer to be eating off of more eco-friendly plates and cutlery at breakfast — it’s all styrofoam and plastic. Fresh baked chocolate chip cookies in the afternoons are a sinful snack. If you have to be in Alcoa, this is a good place to hang your hat.
