LOVETHISPLACE! When you step inside it feels like you’re in a small town, not a suburb of DC. Food is very very good as well, plus it isn’t too expensive which is always a perk!

My favourite place to go in the middle of the night. Their food is spot on for a diner, and the atmosphere is much more relaxed than bob and Edith’s(another diner not too far away in Arlington). Music level is good, and I like the wait staff. On a slightly sour note, the cook is extremely rude. It’s not a big deal, since you don’t really interact with him, but I’m just a bit salty about it. Five stars for the wait staff and quality of food though.

The pancakes are the best I’ve ever had. I now crave them constantly. The burgers and fries are great too!

Diner food done right! Recommend you sit at the counter to watch this lady cook, she is a machine! Highly recommend the ham and cheese scrambled eggs with toast. The hash towns were perfect with just enough crunch and gooey potato. So good!

Depending on when you go, there can be a long wait. However, once you’re seated — friendly and efficient service. *Coffee — Good brew! *Smoked sausage & eggs — the sausage has a sweet maple taste to it, something different from the usual links I order. Hash browns were okay. *Corned beef hash — nice and tender. Quick, easy, and decent place to go if you want breakfast.

Lots of food selection ranging from breakfast items to dinner entrees. Customer service is amazing and all staff members are great whenever we stop by. Our go-to family friendly diner!

Get the African omlet! There is nothing African about it but it’s good. Plus the service is surprisingly fast and the people go out of their way to make you comfortable, especially when it’s busy.

Decent for the money. Stick with items from the grill, everything else hits the microwave at least once, including when you add cheese to eggs. I had the corned beef hash and eggs with a biscuit. Yummy all around. Biscuit from a bag(I am looking at it right now), but might tasty and flaky. Fast service. There may be a wait for a table.

When you want real(and cheap) diner food in the Northern Virginia area, you go to Barnside Diner. This place is open 24⁄7 and perfect for those late night, post DC cravings. I went here for the first time last night and I must say that I’m not going back to that IHOP right across the street! We came here at 3am and boy, the place was packed! The food was what you would expect from a diner: traditional American breakfasts, burgers, steak, and so on. I ordered the flapjacks(better than iHOP pancakes) and the hash browns. My friends ordered the egg breakfasts. We particularly liked how the hash browns were cooked until it was a bit crunchy and brown. Yum. There is a sense of authenticity when it comes to this place. The food is cooked in front of you. The food itself was traditional and old-fashioned. Kinda like a local Waffle House but not. I’ve read other reviews that said service was something to be desired. I didn’t have a problem with service at all. In fact, she was lovely. I guess it’s a hit or miss with this place. All things aside, I’m definitely coming back after those late nights in DC.

Great place to go to late night because it is open late, but don’t expect great food. I can see how this place would be perfect after a night out in town, but I didn’t really enjoy my steak and eggs. The steak was fatty and was not cooked the way I liked it. Hash browns were good. Sadly, The wheat toast was the best thing on my plate.

I came to this dumpster one time with my parents because they insisted it was good. Our waiter was not friendly, fast, or good at waiting tables. I wanted biscuits and gravy but also wanted other things, like eggs, but there was no combo entrée that included biscuits and gravy, so I had to order two entrees. Once our food was delivered, the waiter never came back. He seemed to be an expert at avoiding eye contact. When he had to walk near our table, he walked backwards and strafed sideways just to avoid looking at our table to see if we need something. It doesn’t need to be said that my coffee never got refilled. My coffee never got refilled. The biscuits and gravy were good but every other aspect of this was was just Uck.

Came here for a simple brunch/breakfast with friends. I wasn’t looking for anything special, just your average diner with the typical breakfast stuff. And yet, I was still very disappointed. They didn’t have my favorite breakfast item which is the Eggs Benedict which I can understand. But they also did not have fruit. I find that odd. The food that they did have was just… not good. Friend ordered the biscuits and gravy. Omg, it was SO salty. It was salty to the point where I found it almost inedible. The small orange juice that came with my meal came in the size of a doll house cup. It was tiny. My friend requested a side salad to replace her meat side dish, they piled on 3 pieces of large uncut vegetables and called it a salad. … You couldn’t have cut even a few pieces of the veggies? The bathrooms … terrible. Just gross looking. I really do not recommend this place. I didn’t find any redeeming quality about this place.

How could you not love a diner or restaurant that serves breakfast alllll daaayy looong!!! Barnside Diner is my favorite go-to for a quick, hot, and filling breakfast. I am always greeted by the same staff and most of the time am waited on by the same server when I visit. Whenever I have visitors, I always take them to this establishment. It’s open 24hours which is perfect for when you’re out late with friends. Try the French Toast Platter with a side of hashbrowns :)

I have been driving past this place almost daily since moving to the Landmark area of Alexandria and finally decided to give it a try. It’s you typical little diner, fast service, and the staff is so nice. We ordered take out and it was ready in 10 minutes. We were disappointed with anything! The waffle was delicious and I highly recommend the country fried steak and steak and cheese grinder. I wouldn’t hesitate to come back and will bring my family the next time they are in town for a chill weekend breakfast. Prices are definitely reasonable as well.

I went here for breakfast with my ladyfriend. Based on the reviews and prior experience with Juke Box Diner, we chose Barnside. Service was very friendly, and we did not have to wait for a table. Cleanliness was on part with the average Waffle House, not filthy but not sparkling clean. But this is a diner, so I’ll give them high marks. We had our coffee within a minute, and ordered shortly after. I’m a sucker for S.O.S., so I ordered the platter over biscuits with hash browns, ordered well done. My companion got a basic egg/bacon/hash brown/toast meal. Our food arrived in less than 5 minutes if I remember correctly. Portions were very generous, way more than WH, Bob Evans or anywhere similar. My chipped beef and gravy over biscuits was pretty darn good. Perfect consistency(not watery or pasty), although the temperature was a little cooler than it should have been. Maybe they should keep the biscuits in a warmer. Hash browns were ONPOINT. Hot, crispy, a little oily but that’s what made ‘em great! The eggs and bacon came out good as well. Our coffee cups never ran empty, our check was delivered at the proper time. Service was excellent, and the food was nearly perfect. Another star would have been added if my food was warmer upon serving. We’ll be back when we’re craving good diner chow.

I’ve been here a few times and let me say this place blows Ihop out of the water when it comes to breakfast. The service is hit or miss BUT the food comes out fast and is always fresh. My only other concern, besides the service, is the cake. I ordered a slice of coconut cake to go. Once I got to it a few hours later, it was definitely more than a few days old. Overall, great place for breakfast.

Nice little classic greasy spoon diner. Small with an open kitchen where you can watch all the hustle of the staff. Staff is also very friendly with quick and efficient service. Went with the steak and eggs. While the steak isn’t of the highest quality, it was still cooked medium rare just like I like it and was of quality size and flavor. Eggs also cooked perfectly with a nice runny yolk. This is the kind of place you go to when you get up and want some quick, cheap food fast.
