Express Subs & Pizza

Good choice if u were super hyngry at midnight … they do delivery all night. Foods were good with prices

I don’t believe I’m saying this but, better cheese steaks than Al’s Steak around the corner in Del Ray. The delivery times are long, but worth the wait.

My experience with Express Subs and Pizza was perfect. I had no idea there was a late night delivery option in Alexandria. We got home from the bar, and placed our order at 2am. I was expecting shoddy delivery and average pizza at best. But what we got was delivery in under an hour, and pizza that was so good my friends and I never even left my kitchen. We just stood there in silence eating the Large Bbq Chicken pizza we ordered. Everyone just kept commenting on how amazing the pizza was. To quote my brother, «That pizza was CHOICE!»
I can’t speak to their subs, but this was the perfect late night pizza delivery option for us, and we will be using it from now on after nights out on the town.

I never thought I’d feel this way about a gas station restaurant. Judge me all you want, just please don’t judge this place until you try it!
It was pure serendipity that I ended up here. I was walking back home from Target and wanted to check if Tiger Mart (the gas station this joint is in) took a coupon I had. (They don’t accept any coupons, just fyi.) It was getting to be dinner time and though I was going to eat at home, a Chicken Philly sounded really good.
I wasn’t wrong. There was one guy working the grill and no line (doesn’t seem like there’s ever much of a line if you come in to order) so it was straightforward. I got fries as well. The grill worker asked if I wanted mayo and ketchup on my Philly as well, and I automatically replied «yes». It wasn’t until after the deed was done that I realized what I was agreeing to and it was too late to say otherwise. I was prepared to be a bit disappointed.
The food took a bit of time to prepare (no more than 10 minutes) and there are no chairs or tables (only a leaning bar area). You just take it to the gas station register and pay there. My sandwich and fries came out to about $ 7. You can get liquid cheese on your Philly to make it more authentic for $ 0.50 but I decided I’d try their standard version for now.
I didn’t eat it right away, but instead continued my walk home. It was another 10 minutes or so before I got home, so I was kind of sad that my dinner was going to be cold and my fries soggy from walking in the cold. When I opened it at home, though, the sandwich was still relatively warm and the fries were still crispy! The sandwich was so good too! Surprisingly, the mayo/​ketchup on it was really good (though I may try it again without them just for comparison sake). And the fries, don’t even get me started. So crispy! It’s like they were battered and double fried or something… Whatever, I’m not going to question it.
I see a lot of the bad reviews for this place mainly for delivery. Yeah, the free delivery may be tempting, but if you have the time you should definitely pick it up there and it’ll be so good! Don’t let looks deceive you. The gas station location and the crusty bread and the use of cheese singles may be a turnoff to some, but that only adds to the food and experience. Trust me.

This is the WORST place I have ever eaten. It took TWO hours to get my food and when I called, upset, I told him to call the driver to find out where he is. I asked him to call me back afterwards. Not only did he not call me back, I went to call and they had their phone go right to voicemail to avoid me! Who does that???
We finally got our food, the fries were wet and cold, my tuna had cheese though I asked for no cheese, and my boyfriends double cheese cheesesteak was cold and had NO cheese. How does that happen? I’m so disgusted by this restaurant that I’m writing my first bad review and im going to go out of my way to let grub hub know so they stop using them

They would not take my order. I asked them why not, the guy told me… come back in an hour. I asked to talk to a manager and the guy told me that he was at the movies and to come back in an hour. Horrible service

I ordered dinner from here because the food sounded delicious and the price point was awesome. When I realized it was in a gas station I was a bit skeptical but immediately talked myself into being open to the idea of the food being better than my expectations.
I was by myself with my 2 year old and 8 month old who had just fallen asleep after a meltdown. I went inside to pay, and as assured by the gentleman who took my order, the food was ready in 20 minutes, perfect timing for my arrival.
I’d already decided to ask for help carrying the food to my car, but to my surprise, the cashier offered to help before I could ask. He was by himself and assured me after he helped the customer behind me he would help me to my car. That alone is already 4-​Star worthy for me! He even beat me to my car as carrying over 50 pounds of babies & a car seat is pretty daunting.
I was starving and couldn’t drive off without at least 1 mozzarella stick and it was just as delicious as I’d hoped for. 6 DELICIOUS mozzarella sticks for only $ 3!!! Yes, every day please.
The pizza was the icing on my cake! I ordered a 20-​inch, and it was bigger than it sounds. LOADED with cheese and a fair amount of pepperoni. I also ordered a house salad, which was really good although the veggies were chopped super thick so I had to cut them up, but that’s no biggie!
Not only did my first Express experience not disappoint, but it was exactly what I needed after a long day and in a great dinner.
I look forward to going back and trying other things on the menu. Perhaps I will even try delivery next time, and hopefully that will be another awesome experience.

Only giving this 2 stars because of decent service the two orders prior. 1.5 hours after ordering it finally shows up, after initial 1 hour 10 minute quote. Half of our food was old and gross (pizza slice, mac & cheese, hot dog). Their cheese sticks though, are honestly the best around, but beyond that, and the horrible wait, there are much better options around. I don’t think we will be ordering from here again though. No apology from the driver. Meh…

I foolishly ordered from this place on a lark, one random Tuesday night when I wanted chicken tenders and pizza. I should have read the Unilocal reviews first. I was given a delivery estimate of 45 – 55 minutes… after 90 minutes my meal still hadn’t arrived, and I had to leave to go pick up my husband. I cancelled the order and spent the rest of the night hungry, and regretting my choice. DO NOT ORDER from this place, or you will only be left with regret!

Update: the owner called me a few days ago after reading my review. He promised to carry the kind of ice cream I had originally ordered, and apologized for what happened with the driver. Sounds like I ordered on an off-​day, because the owner seems like a stand up guy. I may try the place again.

Never order from here. They are so slow! Express is in their name and a lie. After 1.5 hours we finally got our food. I know deliveries take awhile but anything over an hour is ridiculous. I will never eat here again. I also asked for extra marina sauce and they gave me a marina sauce and ketchup. The way it was delivered was so bad all the styrofoam containers were all busted and messed up.
I just have nothing good to say. Don’t order from here!

I went there after a long day of work to have some dinner, i ordered steak and cheese and fries and i cant say how delicious was it. Its in a gas station so, who ever wants anything can find it all in one location !!
