Big portions. I love their falafel and their homemade papadam bread. My husband likes their gyro sandwich and chicken kabob. Baklava is good too.

Customer service was very good, I ordered the gyro sandwich it was huge! He cut it in 3 parts for me and I ate on it for 2 days lol. Very flavorful, I like the bread crispy and chewy. Also ordered the baklava, that thang was super super sweet. I couldn’t even finish it. I’ll def, be back.

I’ve only order to go from here. But the food has always been good. I always get the chicken breast kabob. You get a choice of a side and salad. They give you a white and brown rice mix as well as bread and 2 dipping sauces. Portions are pretty big bcs I can never finish it. Most of the time my friend n I split it. The people working are always very nice. When I’m hungry and in the area this is the place. Fairly priced and filling.

One of the best Afghan Kabob places in NoVa. Very authentic food. Clean place. Friendly service. Will definitely be going back there for Kabobs and Gyros.

One Saturday I just felt in the mood for some kabob. And I remembered this place that is near my favorite phở place. When I first walked in, the atmosphere left me a little underwhelmed. But after an hour of eating, I was thoroughly impressed! I had the chicken kabob dish with sides — I had rice, potatoes and a spinach dish. And to top it off, they also included a bread dish similar to naan — but this was as big as a medium-sized pizza! The chicken was well-cooked and the sides were yummy. I was thoroughly full when done eating. The bread, well, I brought that home for dinner as there was no way I could even a tenth of it. It was still good that night. I definitely will remember this place the next time I want middle eastern food.

Came for the lunch buffet and was the only one I the restaurant. Casual atmosphere and nice though businesslike staff. Good deal for ~12. They give you a tray with big heaps of two kinds of rice and then a flatbread the size of dinner plate. If you are looking to carbo-load, this is a strong option. There was a stew with beef meatballs that was the highlight. The stewed greens were slightly sour and spicy, very good with the yogurt sauce they provided. The hot tea hat comes with the meal(a hint of rose?) hit the spot on a cold day. If you’re in Alexandria and looking for a change-up from Indian, then this is a good place to try.

Felt like kabobs today. Went to my old spot and they were out of business. Walked in on this spot. Oh man!, what a find. The food here is incredible. The food is seasoned well, super fresh, and big portions. A must visit. You will not be disappointed. Nice décor and good service.

This is a really great kabob place and friendly service. They also give way too much food for one person, so either take it ‘to go’ and save some for later or plan to split with a friend. Ordered the lamb kabob and had a side with spinach. I prefer my kabobs savory(instead of spicy) and they really nailed it!

Tasty, BIG portion sizes. The restaurant is seemingly run by real Afghanis, who are friendly. I usually get the chicken kabob platter, and eat half of it or less. It’s just super filling. For the platter, along with the protein choice, you get two kinds of rice, a small salad, a huge piece of flat bread, and a choice of another side(I get the chickpeas which are slightly sweet and spiced). If I want a kabob in this area, I drive out of my way to get them here.

I’ve eaten here several times. Good authentic Afghani food made by Afghani nationals. Had some Afghani food from off base when I was deployed last year and this is pretty similar. Will definitely keep going back! Tashakor!

Overpriced and not noteworthy. When I arrived, I thought I had the wrong place because the photos put up on Unilocal are fake. The photos show durable tableware but the only thing visible are stacks and stacks of styrene plates and dishes.(Actually polystyrene plastic foam because Styrene is a registered trademark for a building material, but it’s the stuff known as styrene!) Obviously the only time they had the tableware shown in the photo was when they took those pictures. 48 photos and only 4 show the foam plates, 2 of which were foam take-out clamshells. Despite the deceptive images, the white rice was palatable and the food was at least edible. They had the usual kabobs, including veggie chicken kabob(meaning chicken and vegetables), lamb but no lamb chops. They added gyros, but from what I could tell, it was the kind made from compressed meat product. At the price, one could do much better.

Big disappointment. I was sidetracked by reading many good reviews before my visit and this bad experience. Reviewing Unilocal after my trip I saw earlier references to a change in ownership without a change in restaurant name. That explains alot. When I asked about a number of menu appetizer items I was told they don’t have those, why are they on menu. Ordered 2 platters 1 chicken 1 beef, the meat was OK, a bit dry but the rest of the platter, nothing special or nothing to write home about. Total for two lunches was $ 24 which I felt was pretty high for the quality received. As far as ambiance, there is none.

I almost hesitate to review this hidden gem so I can keep it for myself, but it is too good not to share. Great kabobs and falafel. The sides are all delicious too. The toughest part is not eating your body weight in their homemade bread. I have yet to eat here without stuffing myself to discomfort. Super friendly staff, delicious food, and supremely generous portions. The atmosphere is pretty sparse, but the food more than makes up for it.

I’ve been coming to this place for years and it’s been pretty good. However, it’s seems to be under new ownership and OMG it’s freaking amazing! The bread along with the«tzatziki» and the mint sauce are to die for. I wholeheartedly recommend the gyro and falafel sandwiches both are simply amazing. Ingredients are fresh and they guy behind the counter is very attentive. I’m here at least once a week, I’d be here more often but I would have to live at the gym.

I’m 99.9% sure I contracted Helicobacter pylori(a nasty, stomach-lacerating bacteria) from this place. The mediocre food I ate(a chicken kabob, in case you were thinking of ordering that) wasn’t even remotely worth it. Stay far away from here if you want to keep eating normally for the next two months of your life.

So, first things first, there are no good online menus for this place, except for here: the Mantu is probably my favorite in the dc area– so delicious and the app portion is enough to fill me up for lunch. The beef kabob(kubideh) is great but you only get one skewer(its not like the picture). If you go for the lunch buffet there are alot of great food options for about $ 10, if you get carry out or pick up specify the veggies you want on the side– i always forget to and i always end up with peas(no thanks!) and chickpeas(which are ok but not amazing). All in all, I really love this place for authentic afghan food for a reasonable price and with friendly great service :) I only wish they put Aush back on the menu :)

Get the gyro sandwich. The bread was amazing — doughy and chewy(in a good way!), and the filling was very flavorful. It was warmed up from an stone oven behind the counter, and the oven looked to be the real deal. The sandwich was $ 8 but it was huge! I shared it with my husband and both of us were pretty full. I would definitely come back for lunch or an afternoon snack.

Kabul Kabob House is located in the Van Dorn Plaza, next to Phở Viet Flare(the same plaza with Giant). My husband and I came here to grab an early dinner. Their menu offers appetizers, sandwiches, platters, and even lunch specials. I had the Falafel Platter and my husband had their Chicken Karahi. I thought that hummus was included with the falafel, but it came with a side of fresh salad with tomatoes and cucumber, white basmati rice, and falafel patties(not the crispy ones). The falafels were actually pretty tasty, with a subtle hint of cilantro, but very ‘meaty’ in terms of the chickpea filling. I really liked the white tahini sauce that it came with, as it was nice and creamy. My husband’s Chicken Karahi was actually pretty disappointing(I should have known as it wasn’t listed on their menu!), because it was actually more like a tomato-based soup with bits of chicken throughout. I wasn’t a fan of it, even though my husband ate most of it — he said it was pretty decent, but not the usual way he likes his karahi to be prepared. There were plenty of thick, toasty Afghani bread that came with. Lots of locals seem to come in for carry-out as well as dining in. I would like to come back and try out their kabobs as well as order their falafels again. Service was friendly and the guy at the front was very gentle and sweet. +sweet & friendly staff: D +white tahini sauce — yum!

After a recommendation from a friend we decided to check this place out for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Like previous reviews have stated it is in a strip mall in a strange area. If you were judging a book by its cover I doubt that your would just walk in here. The place was pretty empty when we walked in, but there was a steady flow of take-out business as we were eating. On our friends recommendation we ordered the spicy lamb sandwich(mine was mild spice) with extra yogurt and lemon sauce. The kabobs are cooked to order as well as the bread for the sandwich. The bread was sooooo good, hot and chewy with great flavor, I think you could cover anything in that delicious sauce and wrap it in that delicious warm bread and it would taste amazing. I think next time I will get the chicken or ground lamb, I usually like the flavor better than straight lamb. The bad review about service is crazy. This is a counter service place, they weren’t waited on because they don’t have waiters, you order and pick-up your food at the counter. Can’t wait to go back.
