This is definitely the best Indian food in the area. The food is incredibly fresh, which means it takes a little longer to prepare but is worth the wait. The prices are also very reasonable and the staff is kind. I highly recommend this place and will be going back often.

If you’re trying to figure out which Indian takeout place to order from on Seamless, this is the one. I’ve seen it mentioned that it’s a bit more pricy — but it’s well made and not swimming in oil like some other delivery places in the area.

We order form here often. I agree with other reviewers in sharing that this place is surprising good. Delivery is fast and food is consistently good. Also, the spice request is always just right. Authentic spicy!

Good flavor, and the delivery guy was really nice, but it all stops here. Vert stingy portion for $ 12 per dish… Lamb meat tasted like dry chicken. Will not order for delivery again.

Went today for lunch everyone was super nice I even got a chuckle from pronouncing stuff wrong. I ordered paneer bites with a spicey green sauce and a savory brown one pretty tasty. Ordered the chicken rogan josh, looking at it I thought I had the wrong dish but when I dipped that naan in the sauce I knew. It is sooooo good! I asked for mild and it is mild but the flavors a are crazy, I’m very excited I stopped and will be back.

Some local friends frequent this place for delivery and highly recommended it, but we decided to dine in for once. The place is kind of small and sparsely decorated with simple white tablecloths and one big TV in the room. The owner immediately greeted us and was helpful and attentive the entire time. All of the food we ordered was phenonemnal. Started with vegetable samosas for an appetizer — menu says two per order, but ours came out with three. Tasty sides of fruit chutney and mint green sauce. For my meal, I ordered the kadhai chicken, which is basically a curry served with peppers, onions, and tomatoes. It was primarily nice tender chunks of white meat chicken. I ordered ‘regular’ spice instead of ‘spicy’ but it still had a decent kick to it. Others in my group ordered a vindaloo and a spicy aloo gobi and both thought the spice level was great. The only negative is that a lot of things on the menu are extra charges. A dollar for tap water, extra for the first Naan or side sauces, etc. Meals weren’t expensive though, so the overall price didn’t end up being outlandish.

Wow! The food is GREAT!!! I ordered the chicken biryani(omg the flavor!!), Gulab jamun(who needs coffee after one bite of this sweet concoction), chicken tikka(chicken was very juicy and vegetables had a nice kick of spice and eat spicy food everyday), yogurt sauce, Tamarind sauce, mango lassi(on point very good), and samosa(super good). I did get the lamb vindaloo but I’ll be writing on that another time. O and I ordered delivery

So this place is surprisingly good. What I liked: The fried dumplings we had as an appetizer were really good. I’d get them again. I had the lamb vindaloo along with some Naan and it came out tasting again, very, very good. Although their«spicy» is still sort of mild I thought the flavor was rich and spot on. I feel like the prices here are lower than other Indian restaurants The owner and the younger guy(his son?)were very nice and responsive. They really treat customers well. Exactly how you would treat a guest in your house. What I didn’t like: They don’t serve alcohol The bathroom can look better.

And I ordered 3 kind of indian foods Tikka masala, shrimp biryani and chicken tandoori. The shrimp biryani wasn’t with yogurt«as other Indian restaurants do» And the Tikka masala wasn’t with sause! again«as other indian restaurants do!!» the last order was chicken tandoori it was delicious I Like it. Finally, when I ordered I told them I «please no spicy with the meals» but when I taste them they were medium spicy !! Thank you Unilocal to give me a space to write my review:)

So I ordered food for delivery from this place, after about an hour of waiting I called to ask where my food was and the guy on the phone told me the delivery man just left a few minutes ago. After another thirty minutes I called back again and they said they had no order from me. Never ordering from here again. Luckily I was able to get my money back with no help from them.

Mumbai Darbar is a gem of a North Indian restaurant, located in the Van Dorn Plaza. They opened back in January, taking the place of the old Satay Sarinah. The menu is extensive, offering appetizers(samosas, chaat papri, chicken soup, chicken pakora, etc.), sides(chutneys, rice, salads, vegetables, etc.), vegetarian/seafood/lamb/chicken specialties, tandoori options, breads, and dessert. The hubs and I came here for dinner, and we were both warmly greeted by the very sweet and friendly, Mr. Bhatia! :D :D :D We decide to start off with some Vegetable Samosas(beautiful, perfectly-crisp turnovers filled with spiced smashed potatoes and green peas — I loved that the cilantro flavor wasn’t prevalent, and the focus was on the spices of the potatoes; these were on the spicier end, but the sweet cold tamarind sauce cooled it down and offered a great complement(I loved its consistency, too, as it was the right amount of thickness!). For the entrees, we tried: the Chana Masala(these were more tomato-based; the chickpeas were a little undercooked/al dente, as I prefer mine more ‘mushy’ — however, the flavor was pretty delicious, and I probably will request these to be a bit more ‘well-done’ the next time!); the Butter Chicken(a tangy tomato sauce with a generous amount of cubed grilled white meat chicken; the sauce was delicious!!! I usually like my sauces more creamy and more cream-based, but this was a lovely mix of spices and tang, and it was super tasty! I could have just gotten the sauce and just have that all day!); and, the Chicken Curry(cooked in an onion-based curry sauce — my hubs thought that this was the best Chicken Curry he’s had — the sauce was super flavorful, the chicken pieces were super tender and moist). Everything can be customizable, and everything is made, fresh-to-order!!! We also ordered a side of regular Naan and Garlic Naan(the garlic naan had a generous amount of minced garlic and it was fantastic! Using that to scoop the sauces was great!). For dessert, we tried the Ras — Malia — circular pieces of cottage cheese, soaked in thickened and sweetened milk — different and unique, this was an interesting treat! I noticed that the Mango Lassi that I ordered tasted different — more fresh, the right amount of sweetness, and just overall addicting. I learned from one of the friendly and informative, Mr. Ali(for all you Kohinoor Dhaba fans!), that the restaurant makes the yogurt in-house — WOW! Doing so avoids using heavy cream and heavy yogurt that is typically, so you can really taste the difference! I love the hint of cardamom in there, and I LOVED it SOSOSO much, that I got another one to-go! On a side note, they offer daily lunch buffet offering 3 vegetarian options, 3 meat options, salad, and dessert. I’d love to come back and try out that buffet, as well as their Tandoori Shrimp, the Butter Salmon, the Bone-In Goat Curry, and the Lamb Vandaloo. I love that this place is conveniently-located, and I can’t wait to go back! :D :D :D Check them out! :D +fresh, made-to-order, Indian cuisine: D +Mango Lassi! :D +housemade yogurt! +Butter Chicken sauce: D +Chicken Curry: D +Garlic Naan: D +Vegetable Samosas with tamarind sauce +ask for Mr. Bhatia and Mr. Ali: D :D :D +super friendly staff: D +plenty of free parking in shared lot +daily lunch buffet +delivery and take-out services available! +located in the Van Dorn Plaza(towards the back at the tail end, near the grocery store)

I had an order to pickup which was supposed to be ready in 20 minutes. I arrived after 30 minutes, the order wasn’t ready already. I figured out they started preparing it only after I arrived. So I ended up waiting until they made it. The guys were not apologetic about this either.

This place came highly recommended by a friend. I first had a chance to eat here when I ordered takout along with a plate of their buffet. Needless to say, after my first try i was hooked. If you have been to Rasika, the bold flavors from here will have you questioning what you’ve previously had. Their butter chicken is certainly a must. I also had the curry goat which was also great. I did have some side vegetables such as the chick peas and another item, but can’t recall their names as they were recommended by the server. The cost of their buffet is only $ 10, which is a great price considering the small but but great tasting items. I would love to keep this little place a secret, but the world must know about this little hidden gem. Great choice and would certainly come back again. Please note, that this place has recently opened and some of the décor is still to be improved ;)

I ordered Goat Biryani and chicken korma through grubhub from this restaurant. First of all instead of goat biryani they sent me lamb biryani. Secondly it was bland, dry and not that good in taste. Also the chicken korma was just another creamy gravy which usually korma is not.

I’m a nurse working through the snow storm that hit the DMV this weekend and have been at work since Thursday night. I wanted some reprieve from hospital food so I and another RN decided to order out. We paid and we’re excited. 4 hours later, 5 phones calls and no one answering we concluded that they were not coming. But rest assured they charged the other nurses card. Buyer beware.

In only a short time I have had my second delivery from Mumbai Darbar. Its not that I am a pig, rather I am a fan of spicy Indian food. My first order was Butter Chicken(a yard stick by which I measure most Indian restaurants), Lamb Vindaloo, and Alu Gobi Masala(cauliflower). With bread the tab came to just over $ 40 and without my asking, the restaurant extended a 10% discount on my tab since it exceeded $ 40. How is that for customer service? Over the phone?, without my knowing… A++ Enough said. This last order I had the Chicken Rogan Josh, Lamb Korma, and Daal Makhani(lentils). Again, everything arrived hot, wonderfully spiced and delicious. If you love Indian food like I do, you can appreciate that the six items ordered can sometimes taste alike at a knock-off restaurant. A good Indian restaurant knows that there are subtle differences in the spices that go into each of those meals. Mumbai Darbar’s kitchen certainly understands their spices and represents Indian cuisine well. The one reason for only four stars? and its a big reason, is the serving size. I just have never experienced such small portions from an Indian restaurant. It won’t keep me from ordering again but it will keep me from that fifth star. Up the size of a portion and I will be your number one customer.

I had the chicken vindaloo and my girlfriend had the chicken regan josh. Both were fantastic. The rice was the perfect consistency for the sauces, the naan was puffy and had crunchy/soft sides that we both loved. I couldn’t decide on an appetizer so they brought some out for us to try. The kabobs were the perfect cuts of chicken cooked well to avoid the over blackened edges everywhere else has. The fact that they deliver and are only a short drive away, and they have a lunch buffet, means I will definitely be coming here again.
