The food is very delicious however the service from the waitress was horrible. The waitress was servicing the hibachi tables. The sushi bar and the Bar to the extent of making spirits and having to serve them to other tables taking her attention off the tables whom were actually needing more beverages so we wouldn’t choke on our food. Before I was done eating the MANAGER who runs the reception area came over and asked if we needed boxes prior to doing so she asked our waitress who couldn’t keep up with the tables to print our bills. Guess what? The was the fastest I saw the waitress come back to our table all night. We all paid our bills and continued to enjoy the rest of our beverages when I looked up and saw the MANAGERSTANDINGTHERE staring at us waiting for us to get up because there was a wait at the door. The MANAGER came over and prompted the other couple at the table that there were people waiting at the door for this table. The couple themselves were still enjoying their beverage. When I told the MANAGER it was inappropriate to rush us up when we should be treated as any other couple. The MANAGER’S Response was she wasn’t rushing us out that this was Hibachi and once your done eating you have to leave. Funny thing any other Hibachi place I’ve been to isn’t that way. I guess you gain some customers and you loose some. Well I won’t be back unless it’s for carry out only.

The food is very delicious but the personal attention was terrible… I’d already finish my food and I didn’t finish my green tea but the woman of reception told us that some people was waiting for the table … Thad was very uncomfortable and some woman reclaim about it … They should improve the attention with the clients…

My favorite hibachi restaurant in the country! I’ve been coming here since it was called Hana Tokyo. The lunch hibachi might be one of the best values in NoVA. **Food** I’ve only ever gotten the hibachi and if you go this route, be prepared to to get a lot of food. Each hibachi order comes with miso soup and a salad as a appetizer. The miso soup is fairly standard is about average compared to other places. The vegetables in the salad are plain but the dressing is phenomenal. It’s made from ginger and peanuts. I always ask for extra so that the salad is swimming in the dressing. I always elect to get the fried rice and it is definitely worth paying the extra price. The main entrée comes with a medley of vegetables seasoned with butter, salt, and pepper. I usually get the chicken and shrimp. The chicken is a little bland but the shrimp is usually pretty good. What really makes the entrees are the sauces. You get a yellow sauce and a ginger sauce. The yellow sauce is very creamy and is a nice addition to the rice. The ginger sauce has a lot of flavor and really enhances the meat. You can get as much sauce as you want. **Ambiance and Service** Like a typical Japanese hibachi place, you not only get good food but some entertainment as well. The experience varies by chef, but they do the normal routines of flipping an egg into their hat, the volcano, and a food tossing contest. It’s a nice touch especially for larger groups. If you can’t fill the entire table, you will be seated with others. The chefs are always willing to give you extras for sauce and will make the food to your liking. **Other Tips** I highly recommend going for lunch. It’s approximately the same amount of food as the dinner portion(which is a lot), but for significantly less($ 12 for the chicken hibachi).

Actually, I stopped in one day for lunch after researching Unilocal for sushi. I ended up getting one of the daily specials which was more than enough and served very quickly. I’ll go back.

It’s hibachi. They have ok service and attentive. The chef they have is personable. The routine he runs is the same, if you frequent these kind of places often. Otherwise its a bit dull. Having some experience in japanese/chineese resteraunt I dunno why they don’t add a couple things to keep the routines changing. The prices are resonable for lunch. $ 9 for chicken hibachi. Sushi is WAYOVER priced. I recommend skipping the fried rice because by the time you get all your food and cover it with sauce your not gonna know the difference. Maybe instead get extra veggies of rice. They do a good job of timing food so everything is hot. All in all… good place for lunch. Too expensive for dinner. Plus the hibachi show is the same for lunch as it is for dinner.

My boyfriend and I come here about once a week(slightly addicted?) and always leave happy and full. We get hibachi and typically a roll. Great service and very accommodating to food requests/allergies, etc!

This place was neither great nor bad. The sushi was good and the service was okay. Would recommend to people looking for satisfactory sushi without all the fuss. Note that there are only hibachi tables and the sushi bar, no normal tables.

Went in for lunch and was satisfied with the sushi order. While I have had better tasting Spicy Tuna and Spicy Salmon rolls it wasn’t the worst either. The Alaskan roll was fresh and tasted delicious. The miso soup was hot and tasty which I appreciated. Little can be said about the salad(if iceberg lettuce and one grape tomato qualifies to be called a salad-smh) The service was disappointing from no utensils, to no refill on water(had to ask) to then having to deal with the waitress having an attitude with me because the bill was incorrect. Will not be coming back to dine, may consider carryout!

I love this place so much we go here often. Last night I invited guest for a holiday day dinner and let me tell you I was NOT disappointed! We had Hong as our chef. After all these years that I have been coming to this place Hong made us feel that it was the best time ever! We had steak hibachi and one of my sons had Sushi. Order the steak medium rare if you don’t want it to be dry! Everyone at Samurai is very nice! Hong was funny with his jokes and his wonderful personality I highly recommend this place! Good Sushi good Hibachi!

I had a WONDERFUL time with my husband. It was actually my first time going to a hibachi place(I know I know I am so late) and I enjoyed everything. From the entertainment from the chef to the actual food. The yum yum sauce is amazing and the salad dressing is wonderful too!!!

This was definitely not my first time at a hibachi place, but it was my first time at Samurai Hibachi in Alexandria. This restaurant is located in a little strip mall with a Harris Teeter, some crafts places, and the like. We called and made a reservation on a Sunday about 30 minutes we were going to be there and they were able to accommodate us immediately! We got there and were seated at one of the large flat tops. The service moved at a leisurely pace but not in a bad way. They came around to take our drink orders and immediately followed up with our miso soup and ginger salad. They were a bit heavy handed on the ginger but I’m definitely not mad about it. Our chef came out a few minutes after placing our order and re-read our orders back to us to make sure everything was in place correctly. He then started the show. It was pretty much your typical hibachi cooking so it was entertaining! This guy had some different tricks I hadn’t even seen before so my table and I appreciated that. This place is also not stingy with portions at all and everything I had was cooked perfectly. I will definitely be coming back to this location even though there are other locations closer to me. I had a great time and so did everyone else in my group!

Best Japanese steakhouse in the area. I have tried six others, between DC, MD, and VA. I am happy that I live close to them because I got here a lot. I even order food from time to time. The only issues would be with the way in which they manage their business. When I sit to eat, «Yum-Yum» sauce is given like it is water. When I order for pickup, a small 1oz container is 1 $ each! I cannot even trade the other sauce for Yum-Yum sauce. I just purchase it from the market now. The cooking staff is pretty fun. I know a few by name and they actually remember how I like my meats cooked and no longer tries to offer me bean sprouts. I am happy they now include broccoli in with vegetables and no longer charge extra.

Even though I fancy myself a bit of a ‘foodie’, I love me some Hibachi. Is the salad lacking in veggie variety but doused in amazing dressing? Yes. Is the soup mostly broth? Yes. Do they overcook your steak? Yes. I still don’t care. I love Hibachi — whatever goes into the yum yum sauce(other than loads of cream/mayo) is pure heaven and even though the steak is a bit overcooked, it’s chalked full of flavor. Let me also mention that $ 12 gets you the full hibachi meal for lunch which when you think of the amount of food you’re getting is a fantastic deal. The chef we had was also in a great mood and made our work lunch tons of fun(and mentioned that if we ever needed a faster version for work lunches he would be happy to comply). Hibachi, people. Yum yum.

I’ve had sushi here about four times. Mostly at lunch time and would really only recommend it for the lunch special. It’s good but not always consistent. I usually have the 3 roll special for about $ 12 which included soup and salad. I call ahead to pick up my order is the hostess who answers the phone can be a bit aggressive and abrupt at times. Love the shrimp teriyaki roll! Again it’s not always consistent for some reason. We’ve ordered dinner here and it’s not really worth the $ 45 for mediocre sushi.

I came here last night with my husband for a late dinner date night where we immediately seated, and our server came and took our order. We opted for me to have the chicken hibachi and my husband got the steak with the intention of splitting it and sharing with each other. There was no fuss with this and ended up being a cheaper option than both of us ordering the combination specials. We didn’t drink, but they do offer an lengthy wine, beer, saki, and cocktail list with a full bar. The chef was absolutely talents and above anything quite hilarious. He was extremely interactive with our table of 5 people who sat including hubs and I. The chef’s performance was one I have not seen before. He preformed tricks with the food that are usually standard per hibachi dining experience with adding some wild extras that made it for extra entertaining and interactive. Dinner itself was amazing and delicious with leftovers being great for today’s lunch. I don’t have a single negative thing to say about this experience here other than I wouldn’t consider this high end hibachi as I have been to high end hibachi before. This is reasonably priced average quality food. This is very family oriented with most people in here being just that — families. I would like to find a higher end and higher quality hibachi in the area, but my quest is just starting. For the experience itself — I would give that 5 stars. The glow on my husband’s face and the overall demeanour of the entire meal will be a cherished memory. Neither of us have done anything fun like this in awhile, and it was much needed than the typical dinner and drinks kind of date.

Excellent place and great for kids. The show was awesome and the chef really pays attention to the guests and kids. The food is awesome and well prepared. They have excellent combinations(shrimp, steak, and chicken, etc.). I highly recommend it. Prices are also reasonable. :) Be sure to tip the chef, they work hard for their show.

To be honest… I miss Hana Tokyo. Not much has changed here except the name on the outside of the building — but the sushi just doesn’t seem to be prepared with the same care as it was in the business’ previous incarnation. Fish is still very fresh however. I’ve both eaten in and had take out. It’s OK in a pinch when I’m hungry and running errands elsewhere in the shopping center. And it is the closest sushi spot to my home, so sometimes I’m just lazy and don’t want to go to one of my usual spots. My favorite takeout option is the sashimi deluxe which is a container full of sliced fish, a cup of sushi rice, a side salad and miso soup — all for $ 28. Perfect for a healthy protein boost at the end of the day.

I came upon this restaurant tucked away in a typical soulless, sprawling shopping center in suburban, non-descript northern Virginia. While this is just another architecturally undifferentiated restaurant in a strip mall, they put some effort into tone and experience. I walked in to an elegant space set up for group or shared tables(if you are going to eat off the hibachi grills) and a genial sushi bar with nice t. v screens to keep you entertained(if you are sticking to sushi and want to stay intimate). If you’re a group of sushi eaters they can definitely accommodate you as well. I must say the sushi rolls here were clearly exceptional and artfully prepared. I was really pleased with the freshness and zing of the rolls. Delicate touches of crisp flakes and vegetables rounded out the sushi. The cleanliness and order here are evident. I enjoy a well maintained place. I dinged it because they lack a friendly customer service approach. I felt it was not a chain, yet I felt also that it was not a welcoming family atmosphere. I would like to see their waitstaff trained for more professional and cordial service. You won’t be disappointed by the quality of the food at all.

My friends and I decided to go for a walk on a nice cool evening and we passed by Samurai. I have a weakness for East Asian food and convinced my friends to join me for dinner here. This is a really new place so I didn’t know what to expect, but I ended up having an amazing experience. My regret is that I didn’t order the Hibachi! The groups that did were having a blast watching the chef cook the food right in front of them and dazzling them with his skills. When I experience this myself, I will be able to bump Samurai up to 5 stars. The food was excellent. We ordered a few rolls of sushi(California, Eel, Shrimp) and I ordered the shrimp Maki Udon. This was the best Yaki Udon I have ever had and the shrimp was cooked to perfection. The sushi was good, but I learned how to make sushi from a friend of mine who is a high-end Japanese chef and this did not compare. My friend ordered a Japanese soda and it was hilarious watching him try to figure out how to open it. Hint: use part of the bottle cap to do this! The service was great as well. Our waiter and waitress were very nice and helpful and the food came out quickly. I had a great experience. Only negative was the underwhelming sushi but i have very high standards. Once I try the Hibachi, I will be back for the details! Check this place out: D
