In our furniture hunt, my wife and I searched far and wide one Saturday before she hit her limit. We hadn’t even made it through the typical chain stores before she got frustrated. Later that week, I saw a commercial for Authentically Amish on TV. I decided to check it out while she was at work one afternoon. Once I walked in, I knew we’d be getting our furniture from them. Ordinarily when I think of Amish, I think simple design, but high quality. My wife thought they’d be too country for our taste. Me 1, wife 0. The best part about ordering furniture from AA is the sheer quantity of customizing you can do. At most furniture stores, what you see is what you get. No stain options, no hardware options, no wood choices, few(if any) grouping choices. Here, you get to choose the pieces that best meet your needs, the type of wood you want, the stain color, and the hardware. My wife and I have a pretty small bedroom, but with all the custom options, we were able to get a queen bed with headboard, a chest, a 60″ dresser with mirror and two night stands. We ordered them close enough to a sale that we got a whole bedroom set for less than most furniture stores, and they’re solid oak to boot. They look spectacular. We truly bought heirloom furniture. We’ll be repeat customers when we are looking for new furniture for our living or dining rooms.

My husband and I were tired of buying junky furniture and decided to invest in pieces that will last us, well, a lifetime. We had already perused Crate & Barrel, Cost Plus, Pottery Barn, and some other furniture stores in the area and decided to purchase a 6ft. bookcase from here. The prices are going to be higher because it is handmade but definitely worth the quality. We recently came here over the Labor Day weekend because after moving into a new place, we discovered that we needed an additional chest of drawers and another bookcase. Due to the sale that they were having, we saved 20% on our total purchase. The sales associates are extremely nice and patient in explaining the types of wood that the furniture is made of, pros and cons, the stains, etc. The only downside is that they don’t deliver. They do have a guy that you can contact who does moving jobs for the store.

I am a little confused and wonder if Steve actually looked at any of the pieces. Everything is clearly well made and done so by hand. I bought an entertainment corner piece and I couldn’t be happier. They have a nice selection of things and also will order things for you. You can choose from multiple woods and stains. I will definitely go back for more furniture in the future.

The furniture here is beautiful and looks very well made. The best is the authentically nice salesperson working the store. He spent a lot of time showing the different woods and finishes as well as taking all our questions with patience and a smile. He also informed us of a pending sale and advised we wait to purchase our items then. I can’t wait to get my new extension table. I would say this place is moderate to pricey as you are buying solid wood and handmade furniture and well made wood furniture is not cheap.

I honestly don’t know what Steve B. is talking about. I went in here looking for an entertainment center and while I am no connoisseur of fine furnishings, was very impressed by everything I saw. Every piece I looked at seemed very well made and nothing led me to believe that the pieces were being mass produced by machine. I didn’t end up settling on anything, but left with a catalog and was told that if I came up with an idea or design, they could have it made for me. That right there tells me this is a hands on operation. I haven’t decided what I want yet, but I would be completely comfortable giving AA my business.

Maybe its just me, but when I think of Amish furniture, I think of rock solid, good quality furniture that’s not overly flashy. This place doesn’t sell that. At all. The style is what I expected, with mostly Mission and Shaker style furniture. But it all looks like it just got cranked out on a CNC machine without any attention to detail. To me, that’s completely the opposite of what Amish furniture should be. The only plus is that the furniture is mostly hardwood instead of pine or mdf.
