Hubby gets the fajitas and I like their fish plate. I’ve tried a few pastries but prefer the 2 dinners.

All the food I’ve had here has been great. It’s a small, humble place that’s great for authentic Central American options. It’s the only place I’ve seen baleadas in the DC area. I get them all the time! An order comes with 2 for about $ 8. Handmade tortillas. You can get them three diff ways– basic, with avocado and/or chicken. Yum! I’ve also had Pupusas here, tostadas, plantains, beans, breakfast etc. it’s all good. Did the Salvador breakfast sandwich which was weird but still tasty. They also gave sweet breads and pastries. Staff doesn’t speak English. All Hispanic clientele– so you know it’s good ;)

worst cutomer service ever. rude and nasty food. i recommend you never come here. The lady got all my orders wrong. And I even ordered in Spanish(I’m fluent in Spanish btw) and they still made my ordered wrong.

Have been to this place three times for their pupusas. Staff generally doesn’t speak English. You order at the counter even when eating in, and then they call your order(in Spanish) when it’s ready. It takes them a little while to make them. I liked the revueltas and cheese versions best. They serve them with a little bit of cabbage and red spicy sauce. Three pupusas and horchata make a hearty meal, and run $ 8.25. Their pupusas, beef soup, and pastries are the only items I’ve seen others ordering, although it’s possible their carne asada tacos are good, since they advertise them especially, even though I wouldn’t try those first, as I’m guessing it’s a Salvadoran restaurant, and it’s definitely not a Mexican restaurant. I have not tried the cakes or pastries.

I checked this place out because I was having a party and wanted to try out it out as a catering prospect. The customer service was very unfriendly and the chicken flauta plate I ordered was too greasy to finish. If you don’t mind unhelpful, rude employees, the pupusas looked like the thing to order.

I can’t speak to the bakery side of things but the pupusas are solid and they are my go to spot if I am craving chorizo and eggs. im kinda into tamales de elote and they have those too. Besides the chorizo and eggs the highlght for this place is the cantaloupe smoothie. it is stupidly delicious and worth its weight in gold. the staff is friendly too btw.

Some of the best pupusas in the area are served here. This is a small and humble place, but it’s not sleazy and service is always with a smile. Plaintains are also very good. Highly recommended.

Visited 10⁄1. Had my favorite lunch at Veronica’s — a plate of three beef(carne asada) tacos. As always, the tacos came out fresh and hot, in under ten minutes. The tortillas are Salvadoran style(thick), and the beef skirts steak is well seasoned, marinated.

I was craving some fried plantains for breakfast. I stopped by Veronica’s Bakery and Café. The cashiers were very nice, I ordered fried plantains, with sour cream and refried beans, I had to order a drink because they have a $ 5 credit card minimum,(which I am glad I did) I ordered cashew juice. The order was out in about 7 minutes. The beans were tasteless, the plantains were hard, dry and undercooked, it does not seem they were fried. I ate it because I was very hungry. The juice was very good. I would not go back. — very disappointed with the food. Maybe they have better dishes

Stopped by for breakfast as I was next door at the laundromat washing the bed comforter. I noticed they had a variety of standard Latin dishes available for lunch and dinner displayed while the breakfast was displayed a la ca rte style. Ordered some scrambled eggs, fried plantains, and corn bread tamales. I was expecting the staff to weigh my order; however, they only charged $ 5.40 for all the food. I’m guessing it was close to a pound so fairly priced in my opinion. The eggs and plantains were good as there was hardly any excess grease. I really enjoyed the tamales since I grew up on my grandmother’s cornbread !

Felt like eating some empanadas or saltenas for lunch… so I drove out to Marcela’s Bakery only to find out they are completely out. I’m told to come tomorrow, as though I had just missed the ferry off a remote island that makes only 1 trip a day. Bummed out, I started to head toward, a mini strip mall I passed that looked like it had some Pollo. Just beside there I see this bakery and decide to check it out instead. I ask the lady if they had empanadas or saltenas on the menu to which she replies yes. I order 1 chicken, 1 beef, and 1 pupusa for good measure. It turns out they are actually pasteles. Exactly what is the difference between a empanada, saltena, or pastel? I don’t know. Do I care? Not really as long as it has kind of meaty filling. As I waited for my order(they said in 7 minutes) I looked over at the glass case where I see this limp pathetic looking… what I can only describe as a fried wonton… just laying there, and I began to regret my decision. Expecting to be very unimpressed I bit into this hot pocket and immediately my eyes lit up. Packed with a tasty punch I was pleasantly surprised. I’ll definitely be back for more of these pastales. I think I still prefer empanadas or saltenas, but this was a very good alternative.
