They appear to somehow have reset their Unilocal reviews, now with only 3 – 4 current reviews and my old one gone. Its a small hole in the wall. Well, When I was last there about 7 months ago I had the philly cheesesteak and mountain of cheese fries. The cheese steak was dry with alot of bread and no cheese… while the fries on the otherhand were monsterous and a stoners delight to put it lightly. Fries worth it. Everything else, meh.

This place used to be top notch. Today’s experience has decided it’s fate. They are no longer serving high quality cheese(Merks), they were ‘out’ of a Chicago staple, Gyro’s, and their soda machine just isn’t getting fixed. The past few times going weren’t much better, just seemed lower quality ingredients are being used, putting this place in line with Fradillios. Dante’s used to be the top of the breed. It’s difficult to give them my hard earned money when management isn’t working hard on their business.

Do you know the type of place that you HAVE to go to when you come home? Well Dante’s is that kind of place. I stumble upon pictures or hear the name, and pow, the smell of those fries are in my head.

For those of you(like me) who were fans of Dante’s under the previous owner, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed at all with the new ownership. I’ve been back several times since the changeover, and the quality of food is still just as good. The fries here are probably the best you’ll find anywhere in the area, and the Philly Cheesesteak is phenomenal. I had been here probably close to 20 times without ever trying a burger, so last night I finally did. Can’t believe I waited that long, it was great. In all, this should be a regular part of your repertoire if you live in the area, or if you don’t, it’s worth a special trip. It’s a little tricky getting in and out of here with the bypass construction on 31, but worth it for sure.
