Absolutely love eating here! The Gyros are fantastic, the beef sandwiches are fantastic, everything chicken is fantastic, and the cheeseburgers are fantastic! I simply have a hard time figuring out what to eat. Love going there with family, because we can get one of everything and share. The food and atmosphere is great, and they do a great job supporting our community. Stop by and grab something to eat, you won’t be dissolved!

I eat here often and have tried various dishes and most are excellent. The basic gyro is perfect. Exactly what you expect(probably more!). They give you so much meat it’ll feed 2. The Southwest Gyro is excellent. Jalapenos are awesome on that. The salads are also quite good and filling enough for a meal. I like the Greek salad. The cole slaw tastes good but is really stringy — not sure what they’re chopping up the cabbage with. Its like trying to eat spaghetti. The rotisserie chicken is flavorful but was completely dry. It felt like eating chalk. It was probably really good about 3 hours earlier(this occasion was 5pm on a Sunday). Won’t chance that again. Too bad because the flavor is good. Service is pretty good. Its mostly younger kids college and high school age and they’re quite friendly and helpful. There is one lady that gets a bit cranky. I got the impression she was maybe mgr/owner.

We’ve had the Greek Chicken a couple of times(take out) and it’s very good. Next time we plan on eating at the restaurant. Tried their Italian Beefs last night and they were fantastic! The beef, au jus, sweet peppers and bread were perfect! Definitely going back.

I’ve been eating for years at kostas at Algonquin they use nothing but the best quality and give you((((plentiful food)))) the prices are very reasonable and the service I rate it to be number 1 the people at the front register will take you order they are the most cheerful and helpful staff I ever seen in a restaurant business I used to own my own business in a restaurant and I know quality service when I see me and my family will be going there for years to come the place is just great and we love their decoration jerseys on the walls great job.

Best gyros and very good beef. The only reason I gave it a 4star is because of the lady behind the register, she could be a little nicer

I love the Kostas in palatine and when I found out there was one in Algonquin I was thrilled since I live closer to Algonquin I no longer had to make the drive to palatine. I got the southwest chicken gyro and my favorite… Greek potatoes. Unfortunately the Greek potatoes were not as good as the Greek potatoes at the palatine location, which was upsetting since that’s probably my favorite item on the menu. Looks like I’ll have to keep making trips to the palatine location. The new Algonquin location is huge, very clean and comfortable. Staff is very friendly. I just wish the potatoes were the same.

Great food, portions and nice area. Didn’t have anything I didn’t like yet. Plenty of seating. Come at the right times and you don’t have to wait in a long line!

The southwest gyros are to DIEFOR ! They literally give you so much meat u can order a extra pita and get two sandwiches from one. You might even be able to get three. The fries could be better I’m more of a fresh fry type of person but the gyro makes up for it, my daughter also had ice cream soft served & loved that too ! Would definitely recommend this place if your a gyro lover !

So I had to change my previous review after I just had their Gyro. I’ve had a lot of Gyros around the area and Kostas is by the best I’ve ever had!!! Let me know if you guys need a Cary Grove Trojans hockey jersey to hang.

Decent food. I mean you’d have to be trying to F up… to F up this type of food. As with most places. The food does not take away from the royal bitch behind the register. She acts like like some diva who has to sign autographs. «Awwww, you have to deal with customers questions when they’re ordering?» You poor poor piglet. If you absolutely need a Gyro… This place is fine. Otherwise… Pass.

Chili here is the best if you like it spicy. I won’t even make my own anymore cuz I’d rather get a quart here. Not a fan of the beef sandwiches there but the chili is great and the honey mustard they make for the chicken is the best. Greek salads are super here.

Extremely disappointed after having so looked forward to our meals. New York Steak sandwich was awful: tough, gristly, flavorless strip steak on flimsy bread, with a soggy mosh of tomato slices, wilted lettuce, and limp, barely grilled onions that all fell out, needing a fork and napkins(none provided) to retrieve. Couldn’t eat it(even after adding Lawry’s seasoned salt to it at home), and too inconvenient to return it. So, $ 8.99 for that, plus $ 6 for a Tuscan Gyros Wrap with bone chips, plus $.79 for gyros sauce, plus $ 3 for a mediocre chili cheese dog that had to be entirely eaten with a spoon, plus $ 2.49 for barely a handful of limp onion rings, plus $.89 for a teensy cup of mushy cole slaw, plus unpleasant service, all add up to an inexcusable culinary experience. Won’t be back.

My family has been coming to this place for 10+ years. What started out as a local favorite has degraded to a place that I wouldn’t recommend to anyone. The customer service is horrible. I’m not sure if there was a change in management or ownership but after our last experience they lost a longtime customer.

Food was great ! Portions was large ! Great place to get something to eat. The gyros plate is a monster of meat. If you are near by and hungry, check this place out ! You will not be disappointed !

Food is very good. Unfortunately the service is very bad. Be prepared to wait 20 minutes for one sandwich and no sides. :(

Really good food, for a really good price. There’s plenty of simple take-out & dine-in joints on Randall Road, but you really should drive 3 minutes West on Algonquin and go to Kosta’s. We love to cook so it is very very rare that we order out but Kosta’s matched our home cooking. We had Gyro, Italian Beef, 2⁄3rd lb. double cheese burger, curly fries. We expected the burger to be huge, and it was, but the Gyro & Beef were big, delicious and better than average price. It was Sunday, at 6:15 and the place was busy with families. Angie was doing a great job keep the staff moving. We’ll be back. BB from Crystal Lake, IL

Kosta’s Gyros is definitely a neighborhood hot spot. While I was in picking up my order, tons of locals came in including a lot of families just after a baseball game decked out in their gear. Aw, suburbia! I walked in and was greeted by the young cashier. She was quick and accurate in my order and it only took a couple of minutes for my order to be ready. They had a lot that sounded good on their menu and I debated getting a salad or grilled chicken… something healthy. Indulgent gluttony won out — it usually does for me. I got the 2 Hot Dog Special which includes 2 hot dogs(surprise), fries and a fountain drink for $ 6.67 with tax. Although not overly amazing, it was pretty good. The hot dogs were on poppy seed buns and with the real stuff — Vienna Beef. The krinkle cut french fries were served super crispy and I appreciated that. When it comes to krinkle cut, they need to be well cooked instead of mushy and soft. Overall had a decent dinner and would go back, no doubt. However, I’d probably try other menu items like their signature gyros.

This is a great neighborhood gyro place. The gyro portions are above average and the crinkle cut fries are salted nicely. The reason for three stars vs more is that it’s not a place I can’t live without. With so many competitors out there, it’s really going to boil down to price and convenience. Kosta’s used to have a standard BOGO coupon on their website, which made for a killer deal, but it’s gone for now. Every time I’ve gone, I’ve used that coupon. With two competitors closer to me with roughly the same cost and quality, I don’t know how often I’ll make it back to Kosta’s.
