I love mediterranean food, but not at this place. The food was okay, but overpriced. The house that it’s in is very cute, but definitely not worth the drive from Addison. I could drive five minutes down the street and get better food for a better price. The only saving grace was our server, Jason. He was funny and helpful, and he brought our food quickly. Our drinks were never empty. But that guy George, I think he was the manager, he kept hovering around our table while we were eating, and kept talking to us while we were trying to decide which dessert to choose. We ended up not getting any at all, just so we could not have to humor the manager and his annoying small talk while we were trying to get as much enjoyment out of our mildly seasoned food as we could. At least it wasn’t cold, too. If it weren’t for the server, I would have given this place zero stars.

The place is good cozy. but the elderly gentleman(owner?) is a unfriendly Rude person. Beware of the table in the bar area, looks like you are in the basement. If you are making reservation. Ask them NOT to put you in there. I am not sure if its even hygienic serving in there. Food was good but the unfriendliness environment was very uncomfortable. If you are looking for a pleasant dinner time without having to interact with that unfriendly person(Not sure if he is the owner, sure looked so) and just stick with friendly waitress and enjoy your food. ask them for the front rooms seating and enjoy. Hope it helps.

We purchased a gift card for Hedary’s during the holidays and gave it a shot tonight. I ordered the Hedary’s chicken and my wife had the Greek Salad. The Hedary’s chicken was allot of food and had nice flavor. My wife enjoyed her Greek salad but thought it could have had more black olives and feta cheese. We ordered an appetizer, Falafel, which was very different and tasty. For desert, we tried both the Baklava and the Shabiet. The Baklava was very good. The Shabiet was suppose to be cream filled but there wasn’t too much cream in it. The staff was very nice and the service was good. It was cold tonight and the temperature inside the restaurant was a little cooler than most would appreciate. For two dinners, one appetizer, two desserts, and tip the bill was $ 50; which wasn’t too bad. We both enjoyed the experience and said we would come back.

This restaurant has very tasty and healthy Mediterranean food. I am absolutely addicted to the garlic chicken and the Greek salad. I loved the atmosphere of the old Victorian home. Buddy, the lead waiter there seems to know all of the guests and enjoys entertaining people by playing music on his xylophone and enjoying a glass of wine here and there with the guests. I highly recommend this quaint little restaurant!

Confusing when you first walk in because you aren’t sure where to go or if you seat yourself or what. After you get seated it’s amazing. The Gyro was the best I had ever had. Really big and all the ingredients were fresh. They brought out some kind of bread as a complimentary appetizer. It was sooooo Goooood!!! It’s an old house turned into a restaurant and I loved the owner and the employees. The food quality was the best part. I will go here as often as I can.

Stopped by for lunch with some friends on Labor Day. I loved ambience of the old house that is the setting for this restaurant. The young woman who greeted us was very pleasant and made us feel welcome. I ordered the gyro sandwich which was filled with fresh vegetables, meat, and a creamy yogurt sauce. The just baked pita bread really took it over the top. My companions ordered the chicken kabob with greek salad. One of them commented on chicken — flavorful and nicely cooked. Another, who considers himself a conniseur of Greek salad, liked their version so much that he wants to go back next week. I am going with him so that I can try it too!

It’s in a rickety old house in the middle of Allen downtown. Service was excellent! The food was pleasant, and filing. We ordered the lunch menu Chicken K Bob and a Gyro. The gyro came with fries, tons of fries! The gyro was large and had plenty of meat in it. The flavor was good. The Chicken K Bob was good but lacked any flavor except the grilling. Could have used some marinade of some sort. If it was there I didn’t detect it. I ordered a Greek salad to go with the K Bob, and it came with rice. The rice was a weak attempt to a pilaf. I make a great pilaf, so I know it needs more than this had. The dish was good, but it isn’t making me want to go back. Served fresh pita bread for a starter. It was good, dipped in Olive oil and pepper.

Good variety and a quaint location in a Victorian style house. Great place for quiet dining, though sometimes you may be seated very close to other parties.

Met my friend here for lunch for our first visit. The restaurant is located in a quaint old house in Allen. The lunch sampler platters, are reasonably priced as are the sandwiches. The hummus is fresh and delicious! I highly recommend this as an appetizer. My friend had the trifecta salad sampler and she thought it was ok. The chicken salad had a bit too much cinnamon and was a bit overwhelming. The chicken kabob was very dry. The vegetables were very good and would rather have had those as to eating dried out meat. The rice was good. I think it’s hard to mess up rice. I do have to say the service was really fantastic which made up for the so so food. I do plan on returning for one more visit to see if my next choice of food will be better.

First, I try to reserve five stars but our experience was amazing! Loved the atmosphere and ambiance! We love Mediterranean food and usually drive outside of Allen to address a craving. We decided to try Hedary’s out after reading the reviews etc. Sounded hit and miss but worth a try. Didn’t realize it was a BYOB until after we arrived so jumped into the Jeep and made a quick run to the Tom Thumbs up the street and grabbed a nice bottle of wine! Love BYOB! 2 dollars per person on opening fee, no biggie. The fresh bread is amazing and a great touch to the over all experience. If you are ordering Mezza, go big or go home. :) You are only paying a few bucks more for the full on spread versus the«mini» and its worth it in my opinion. We were in the room with another large table and when they brought out the Hedary’s Chicken I was sorely tempted! Smelled so good! We we were impressed with the menu and went with a combo med plate for the girlfriend, lamb chops for myself and my girlfriends 19 year daughter went full on adventure and ordered the Kibbeh Nayyeh. Some will be thrown off by the appearance and or texture but hands down amazing flavor! Clearly family run and owned so cut the service some slack if its busy. Service was A+ on our visit.

Delicious food and huge portions! We needed a 2nd table to hold all of our food. Great for sharing and oh so yummy. Reminded me of when I ate locally in Turkey. I will be back soon for sure!

Just had the worst service. Had to go back to the kitchen and ask for help. Guy in the back tells me to ask my waitress/waiter for help. Told him I would if I could find them.

My wife and I went there the day after Valentine’s Day for our date. We had read the reviews and went without a reservation. We found it unique being in a house. The logistics trying to serve guests must be challenging. It’s not a get all dressed up type of place. I felt the casual atmosphere very nice. The staff and George were friendly and checked on us frequently. Anna was our server and she was very personable and friendly. She obviously loves working there. I ordered the Hedary’s Chicken and it was delicious! It was tender and the sauce was tasty. It was more than enough to eat and I can usually eat a lot! My wife ordered the Combo #2, with Lamb Shish kebab, Falafel and baba ganoush. She enjoyed it very much. I’m sure we’ll be back for more.

Hedary’s is one of our favorite date night spots. We like to go on Wednesday evenings when it’s quiet so we can chat with the owner. The food is always wonderful. The signature dish, Hedary’s chicken, is quite possibly the best chicken I’ve ever eaten. If you want a change from the boring chain restaurants in the vicinity and want some tasty, fresh food in a warm and relaxed atmosphere, this is the place!

Another house turned into a restaurant. So cute. Stopped in for lunch and was not disappointed. Service is slow, so be prepared to wait. BYOB which is a nice perk.

Hedary’s is a staple in our family for birthdays, anniversaries, or hosting dinner for out of town guests. Located next to Allen’s historic Main Street, which really consists of one and a half blocks of old timey store fronts and a preserved train station, the place is set up inside an old two story house with a wrap around porch. The dining space is divided into three sitting rooms, the bathroom in the hallway, just like a real home. It has a certain charm that can’t be duplicated downtown, in Dallas or Fort Worth. When you come here you will see familiar Mediterranean standbys like gyros or kabobs. Ignore those and order the baked chicken. You get a half chicken with roast vegetables, crisp and dripping with a special sauce. Now, officially the sauce is only garlic, olive oil, and lemon juice, but it actually has alchemical properties that allow it to taste exactly what you’d think gold would taste like, if you could eat it. Citrusy yet rich like cream or some type fat mixed in. Dense but light at the same time, full-bodied one minute and simple the next. Coat it on the crispy chicken skin and crunchy potatoes you will understand; you are eating the food of the gods.
