I took a formal occasion suit here to be altered and he did an awful job. I needed it taken in, the suit was a 12 and I wear a 10 or 8. He pinned it up and I felt like there was plenty of room but when I got it back it was way too tight. The jacket had princess seams and he did not get the the two seams next to the center back the same width, very obvious, and there were dark stains about a quarter of an inch wide down the entire length of the back seam on both sides. He said that the stains would go away but when I pressed the suit before the wedding they had not gone away and were even darker and very visible. I wish I could post a picture… The suit was a very light grey shantung-like fabric and what I found out was that you do not use tailor’s chalk on those kinds of fabrics because tailor’s chalk will leave a waxy stain on thin fabrics — something an expert tailor would know. Several stitches from sewing the lining back came through to the front and when he cut the stitches to release them he nicked the fabric and had to do some reweaving — all things that should have been fixed before I picked it up. When I came back to get it there was no time to go anywhere else or get the stain removed at the cleaners as I was leaving the next morning. When I took the suit off after the wedding I saw that the seam in the back of the skirt had popped because it was too tight — I was so embarrassed. Needless to say, do not take anything here that needs a certain degree of expertise in suit alterations. Probably OK for pants hems, buttons and other simple repairs but nothing beyond that. He charged me $ 80 for this horrific job and although he did fix the poor spacing of the princess seam, he did not give me a refund to cover having to take the suit to the cleaners to get the stain out — which is still there BTW. Now I will have to spend more $ somewhere else to have it taken out if that is possible and redone correctly. Buyer beware!

Super fast work, but a bit pricey. I went to get a floor length bridesmaid dress hemmed. Well he cut it a bit too short, and now you can see my feet, which I definitely didn’t want. I wanted the dress to just hit the ground. I mentioned that it was too short and you could see me feet when I tried it on, and he had absolutely nothing to say. Didn’t even acknowledge my comment. It was too late in terms of fixing it, but he could have at least dropped the price from $ 70 to something a bit lower for an unsatisfied customer.
