It’s okay. Service not the nicest. Prices are surprisingly high. Most certainly isn’t the best bagel place in New Jersey. Heck doesn’t even come close. What I like to call a connivence place only.

The service is a bit disorganized, but the amazing food more than makes up for that. I highly recommend their roast beef – it’s always super pink and delicious, their tuna salad, egg salad, and their basil parmesan bagels.

Bernie’s is a decent place to get breakfast, though service is often slow and feels disorganized. Also, I never know who’s on line, who isn’t, where to stand, where to wait for food, etc. It’s always just a bunch of people standing around randomly, and that applies to the customers and the employees. The bagels are okay, but don’t stack up against other bagel places in the area. After all, the New York /New Jersey area is known for its excellent bagels; the ones at Bernie’s are definitely below NY/NJ average. I usually get the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese bagel sandwich, which tastes very good(though the eggs are always a bit too runny). I haven’t been brave enough to try any of the other deli meats or dishes on display in that glass display yet, but maybe one day. Prices for the food admittedly feel a bit high. Also, the place doesn’t have much sitting room at all.

The bagels are really good but the service is a hot mess. I don’t really expect a ton of friendly service when getting a bagel but I do expect all of my order to be in my bag when I get home. It was a big let down when we got back to the house and everyone had their order ready to eat except for me, which was the simplest of all with just a bagel with cream cheese. The staff also got into a bit of an argument right in front of us which is always interesting. They do make a great bacon egg and cheese here since they crack the eggs on the grille to order and it isn’t that egg beaters microwave stuff. The in laws always enjoy the white fish as well as the chicken cutlets for sandwiches! I will be back when I am in the area, I will just be sure to check my bag before I leave.

The food is good but the people are super rude. I can understand that they may be busy but there is no need to sigh hard on the phone when I am attempting to place an order or have the food shoved over to me. If they are not able to make a delivery than they should not advertise it. If they were friendly I might go there more often.

Not a fan. Bagels are not great. Service is not friendly nor do they look like clean healthy people. And worst of all they are grossly overpriced. Sorry but there are plenty of other really good bagel joints.

My bagel was sooo tasty. Especially since I don’t have bagels too often. I had a plain bagel toasted with a special vanilla cranberry cream cheese. The cranberries were big and juicy. I also had a cup of coffee. The downside was that there was a line at 9:30am and also that paid $ 6 for a bagel and coffee. That’s a lot especially since I didn’t ask for eggs, bacon or lox. If I’m in Allendale again I’ll come back.

I’d say pretty average — just a fan due to their convenience. Employees are not overly friendly or helpful.

Time to get a new bagel recipe… they are SO hard… are they boiled like a real bagel is made before baked? Expensive too… not what it is intended to be, too many other quality bagel places that are so superior in the area…

II love the HEALTHYCHOICES that are always available at Bernies! I love that the owner of this deli is so happy to go above and beyond for his patrons! the place is immaculate and everything is ALWAYS fresh. They cook their own fresh turkey and roast beef and I also love that the beef is prepared RARE! Yummy! Thank you MIke for not changing the quality of your food, other places have brought the quality down and their prices up. We really know why you have been in business so many years

$ 7.75 for 1 bacon, egg & cheese and 1 large coffee… Yeah, this place has definitely seen better days. Especially with Allendale Eats open next door, a much more reasonably priced breakfast option before I hop on the train. My problem isn’t necessarily with the food, its more the all around experience. On my most recent visit, I entered with about 10 minutes to spare before my train. I thought«only one person in line, great!» NAHTTT. No one came out from the back for about 3 minutes. Then I asked for olive cream cheese on a plain bagel… The guy behind the counter let me know they hadn’t made the specialty cream cheeses yet for the day… At 7:45am? Hmmm. He let me know he’d be happy to mix it up now if I had a few minutes… I didn’t because I was catching a train to work. This kind of service combined with inflated prices even for the area… Oh yeah, did I mention the bagels are small? Since that incident I haven’t gone back, Allendale Eats is a much better option for a commuter on a schedule.

I come here atleast two times each time I visit. The people are incredibly friendly and bagels are so fresh! Half price bagels after 1:30! Everything bagels ftw! Support your local business and eat here!

I have been there twice… they throw their sandwiches together and overcharge. Used to work in town and my co-workers and i would have to go to waldwick or ramsey to get a decent breakfast sandwich. Not planning on returning.
