Pretty good place — went here with the kids and they enjoyed their food. The french toast was especially appreciated.

Food was decent. Service needs improvement. They took forever to place our order and bring the food. My second visit there was hysterical. The waiter forgot to give my CC back after I paid. I waited about 5 minutes and still no show. So I walked up to the counter and asked where my CC was. The staff seemed flustered to find it. I later witnessed one of the bus boys pull it out of the soap bucket. He tried to discreetly wipe it and gave it to my waiter who then handed it to me. I purposely took a napkin and wiped my card in front of them and said«please don’t let this happen again.»

Great luncheonette type eatery. Food is always good and the service is friendly. It’s one of those places where you are recognized on your second visit and you receive a warm welcome. Menu is plentiful. Food has never disappointed. It’s not fancy but it’s not supposed to be. It’s clean and comfortable. It has that small town feel. It’s a great spot for breakfast or lunch.

Service is spotty. Seems like every time I go there, the prices are different. They really need to update their online menu with correct prices. Food is similar to a Diner. Average local spot.

I used to love this place, left town for a few years and I see that the quality has plummeted. First I ordered over the phone and was told to wait 15 minutes. I arrived and did not get my food until 45 minutes after my phone call. I bought a lettuce«wrap» that essentially turned out to be an awful messy salad that I needed to eat with a knife and fork. On top of that I paid extra for fresh mozzarella, for which I received rubber, and extra for roasted peppers, which I did not get at all.

We visited this restaurant after watching Comedians in Cars… with Jerry Seinfeld and Chris Rock. The reviews are pretty good, so we wanted to give it a try. We were not disappointed. The homemade corned beef hash is probably the best I’ve tried! The western omelette was also well done. Who reviews toast, but that was really good, too. The place is small, but the food is grand!

The pulled pork sandwich here is also pretty good. There is a 10 dollar minimum for ordering. While the no delivery charge thing is nice, I’d pick up if you’re not too far away, as delivery orders have taken a long time for me. Always over 45 minutes in my experience, and I live close(I’m just extremely lazy).

My girl and I went based on the reviews and WOW was it worth it. We didn’t have much of a wait because we came close to closing time. Seating was also convenient and spacious. The corned beef hash came with the Truckers special breakfast and was amazing. The pancakes were also delicious. The service was 5 star especially Phil and the gentleman who refreshed the coffee while we talked football. I highly recommend!

When I worked in the area, I would usually stop in here before taking the train back into the city. While waiting for the train, I would get hungry and stop into this place for their $ 10 lunch prices that you get with a drink Monday through Friday because the train station is only a block away from the restaurant. It was a nice lunch, and I had tried all of their meals, and everything was fresh like it was made that day. Their hamburgers were always fresh. This place is good for families and single individuals alike. If I was in the area again, I would come up and eat there again. They are open from the morning until the mid-afternoon Monday to Saturday. Not sure about Sunday.

What a great place! Breakfasts are delicious – hearty, fresh, generous in size. The staff could not be more welcoming and friendly. Busy on weekends so might entail a wait, but well worth it. Lots of families and just a super local place that will make you feel right at home. Can’t wait to return and sample a few more dishes. The corned beef hash is a winner.

Came here based on Unilocal recommendations. It’s located in the center of the downtown area(really cute) and we were seated right away. We tried their strawberry waffles special and the Truck Driver. The strawberry waffle special was ok, the strawberry sauce tasted like watered down strawberry jam(boring and def nothing special) and the truck driver was average as well. The wait staff was sweet and I really wished the food was better. Oh well, maybe next time, when i’m in the area.

I googled«best breakfast in Bergen county» and this place came up. Google was right. This was the best breakfast I have had in a long time. A lot of the Unilocal reviews said the corned beef hash was amazing, and I LOVE corned beef hash so I was sold. First off it is a cozy spot and the staff was extremely friendly. The corned beef hash was amazing, the best I have ever had. You could tell it was made from scratch with pieces of shredded corned beef in it. If you order corned beef hash in most diners, they bring you something that resembles dog food… not here. The bread used for toast was top quality too, thick cut and just amazing. I live 30 minutes from this place but I will definitely be back.

came here twice so far. i avoid crowds, so i went on an off time in the middle of the week. i could see it getting packed easily on the weekend, but they do have some outdoor seating. there’s a lot right next door and some front parking available. both times my husband got the truck driver which he loves. its eggs, bacon, potatoes, french toast and toast. i had corned beef hash one time and corned beef omelet another time. yes i love corned beef. what makes me come back is their bread. their toast/french toast is so light and fluffy it’s so good! i’ll continue to come back just for their bread.

Used to work around the corner, but since I graduated from school and switched job this place was really not close anymore. Stopped in recently and the food is still awesome. Really love their daily special menu for the week and really like that I can create my own panini also. Definitely highly recommended!

Finished up some shopping in Northern NJ on a day off from work and was looking for someplace to grab a bite to eat. I love small breakfast/brunch/lunch restaurants and Allendale Eats looked to be very promising. Note that I’m a frequent runner(20 — 30 miles per week), and being a day I had already planned to run, I needing some carbs for fuel :) My fuel consisted of buttermilk pancakes topped with strawberries with a side order of multi-grain toast. I’m a self professed pancake connoisseur and snob(so I can be quite picky), and the pancakes were really good; nicely sized, light & fluffy, and cooked perfectly. Come on; just look at the picture I took and you can see the perfect slight browning of the pancake surface! Strawberries served on top were super fresh too. My only gripe was that the butter provided was in packet form, so you know it wasn’t exactly fresh whipped butter you get in some pancake places. Also ordered a side of multi-grain toast which was really good. I’m not one to expound on something as simple as toast, but it was notably awesome toast. The coffee was excellent and our refills were freshly served from the carafe. My sister had the Rueben sandwich and she really enjoyed it. The earthy rye bread was nice and sturdy to contain all that semi-fat corned beef, tangy sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and Russian dressing. I had a small section of her Rueben and agreed that it was pretty darn tasty. Service was excellent too with our waiter generously offering us coffee refills from a just brewed pot. I can see why this place has had so many positive reviews!

I heard good things about Allendale Eats, so I had breakfast here Sunday morning. It was just OK. It’s a small place, so whenever the door opened, a wintry breeze swept through the restaurant. It was also pretty cramped, I wouldn’t wanna come here with a group larger than 4. I got the truck driver, swapping the pancakes for french toast. Food was average, can’t really mess up eggs, home fries, and corned beef hash. French toast was decent, but not the best I’ve had. I will give them credit for understanding my order when I asked for my eggs sunny side up with burnt edges. But it was pretty expensive for breakfast, and the prices on the menu differed from the bill.

Wow — 4.5 stars with 95 reviews and I was excited to bring a work group of 5 people to this restaurant. However, I was extremely disappointed. They have a nice sidewalk eating area in downtown Allendale. Street parking is free and plentiful and there is also a lot across the street. If you want to sit outside you have to walk inside to let them know, which we did. However, it took at least 5 minutes for someone to come outside to get our drink order. We ordered both drinks and entrees together. Our entrees started coming out after about 15 minutes. For the 5 entrees and one side, they came out one at a time for about 10 minutes. My sandwich did not come out until after everyone else had finished their entrees. My salad came out with the wrong dressing. The fries were undercooked. The eggs were way over done. Our drinks did not come out until after all of the entrees were delivered. The server never checked back on us. I think, at some point, the waitress realized how badly she had messed up our experience and just gave up. I finally hunted her down to get our check. Then I got up again to giver her out credit card. Then we left. I am glad that so many people have had a great experience at Allendale Eats, but I, for one, will not be back.
