3.5 stars. Unfortunately, I had a very average experience here. I got spicy beef with spicy potatoes, hummus, and tabouli salad. I had my meal in the restaurant, and the portion was tiny! From photos and looking around in the restaurant, I think you should get a to-go box regardless of whether or not you are dining in. The food itself was pretty good, but it was expensive for what we got. We paid ~$ 12 without grabbing extra sauce or hummus! The spicy beef wasn’t at all dry, and had nice flavor to it, but it was rather greasy. The potatoes, hummus and salad were fresh and flavorful.3.5 The service was really lacking that day. I had to wait nearly fifteen minutes for my food to be ready, which was unexpected. Maybe it was an off day? I will be back to try the chicken and give this place another shot.

Normally when i am doing a pick up in and out… called this place to make an order and so they said that they dont take order over the phone if not more than 5 order or larger. I do recognize your voice and i know you are the cashier… then i go saying to her… miss, look, just want to order a chicken Kebab plate for pick up… she goes saying over the phone; «we don’t do that». then i asked and saying to her that i have got it last week… are you sure? she hung up. we deserve better service.

My first time here and I had the 5 choice salad because it was the healthier option… best part was probably the baked cauliflower. The vegetables and the onions were okay, but nothing too special. I also got falafel as one of the 5 choices, but they only gave me two pieces(each one was smaller than my fist) and it was a little dry — not as much flavor. Overall, I felt healthy and finished the whole thing, but wouldn’t crave it enough to come back unless it was convenient for me.

I’m seriously going to miss this place when I move out of Allston. Everything on the menu is great. The roll ups are good if you are moderately hungry.(make sure you get it with the Saj which is totally worth the extra dollar, and ask for extra of the garlic sauce they spread on). I usually go for the spicy chicken and beef but have tried every meat as well as the falafel and it never fails me. The shwarma plates are usually my go to and last me 1.5 meals(I eat a lot), as they are extremely generous with their portions. If you are indecisive they will give you half half of the potatoes and rice as well as the hummus and garlic sauce. Also the staff has always been so friendly to me the numerous times I’ve gone! I never had to wait for more than 5 minutes for my food even when there’s a decent line.

In my opinion this place deserves a very very solid 3.5. It’s good but not amazing. This is one of those places in Boston that gets hyped because unfortunately there are no good options for Mediterranean. With that said this would probably, by default, qualify as the best Mediterranean restaurant in the area. I got the spicy chicken shwarma plate with rice, salad and hummus. I got the spicy mayo sauce with a little bit of hot sauce. The rice is well made and a perfect supplement to the chicken. The chicken itself was a little on the dryer side but wasn’t so bad because of the salad and hummus. I would recommend you always get the to go plate because it is definitely more food than the eat in plate. Without a drink my plate came out to a little over $ 12 which isn’t amazing but a reasonable price for sure. If I were craving Mediterranean though this is definitely the place I would go to.

Garlic ‘n Lemons, why did I wait so long to try you? Stopped in yesterday because I was craving some falafel and hummus and wanted to try somewhere new. I got a veggie plate with falafel, fattoush salad, Greek salad, cous cous and hummus to go. The staff was friendly, the service was quick and the food tasted fresh and certainly satisfied my cravings. I did not feel greasy or gross after eating my meal, but rather just enough full. With just a little bit of my meal left over, perfect for lunch today. Felt like I got my money’s worth. If I didn’t have to be somewhere, I definitely would have ate there as the seating area was bright, clean and inviting. I will be back, Garlic ‘n Lemons

One of my go to spots in the city. The meat is delicious and flavorful, they let you get half hummus and garlic sauce, and their magic sauce is unbelievable. Even after moving to east Boston I find myself driving back here for take out!

A coworker recommended me to this place. It is a non-fancy, clean restaurant for cheap price. There was many people in line(indicative of good food). I got spicy chicken plate, which comes with salad and hummus and some pita bread. It tastes great and has lots of flavor. Chicken was NOT dry, was very tastey. Highly recommend this place

Oh Garlic ‘N Lemons, how I love thee so. I work right around the corner, and this restaurant has been an absolute treasure in the Allston/Brighton area. As many have pointed out in their reviews, the pitas and shawarma plates are absolutely delicious, and the prices are perfect for a quick, inexpensive meal. The restaurant itself is clean, bright, and the best place to sit and get away from the hustle and bustle of your work day. My favorite thing on the whole menu has to be the hummus. Sure, the 4 shawarma choices are amazing(beef, spicy beef, chicken, and spicy chicken), but the homemade hummus is just perfect with a side of fresh pita. I could honestly eat just that all day. If you’re in a rush, stop in here for a falafel pita on the go, and you’ll be hooked, I promise. Oh, and make sure to follow the recommendations of the person behind the counter when they say that you should have everything on your pita. They are 100% correct that you want it all.

Garlic and lemons has to be my favorite restaurant in the area, possibly even in all of Boston. The food is healthy and always fresh, and you can stop in for a filling lunch that tastes great and healthy for like $ 10 — for someone like me who needs a place to stop in for lunch, it’s perfect. Also, the staff is very friendly always and the restaurant itself has nice big tables and lots of seating that is very clean; the same goes for the bathroom. Honestly, the only shortcoming of the restaurant at all is they have only a small selection of drinks.(Basically just Snapple and water) but that’s a small nitpick. Everything else about it is close to perfect. Great tasting, healthy, fresh authentic mediterranean. My recommendation is try the spicy chicken shawarma with pita. It’s seasoned lovely, and not too spicy either.

As far as Mediterranean food goes, this is one of the best I’ve had! I got a veggie roll-up combo on pita bread with a side of potatoes($ 9). The potatoes were perfectly seasoned. The pita on the roll-up was crunchy and delicious; along with the veggies and sauce, they put tabbouleh in the roll-up, which took it to a whole new level. I will say that it does get messy towards the end, so beware(and maybe avoid getting this on a first date?). I definitely recommend going to Garlic ‘N Lemons. You can even drive there because, even though it’s on Harvard Ave, there is free parking in the back!

I LOVE this place! I come here for lunch maybe once a month when I’m in the area and almost always get the spicy chicken shawarma pita; it’s so delicious and a good portion size for $ 8. It’s not spicy at all, by the way. It comes with really yummy creamy garlic sauce. They toast quickly but it’s pretty much always ready within 5 minutes of when you order. I want to try more things on the menu… The people that work here are always super friendly and nice. It’s a large place and there is always ample seating and it’s very clean.

+Surprisingly so spacious inside! +Parking in back! +Staff are very nice. +Semi«Subway/chipotle style» so you can add/take out things you do/don’t want on your pita/saj when you watch them make it through the clear glass. The spicy chicken shawarma has garlic sauce, turnips, pickles, lettuce, tomatoes, spicy shawarma chicken, and another sauce on top. It’s super tasty – salty, garlicky goodness on a pita that was deliciously crispy! It’s not very spicy at all though – if you really want a kick add some hot sauce from the tables. I tried to make one roll up into two meals but the second day was definitely sloppy with all that sauce(but no less delicious!) and the portions aren’t that big. Definitely easy to eat in one sitting. Can’t wait to come back!

Very solid place for middle eastern food. Pretty tasty, good portions, a restaurant with a lot of space. It is fast casual so no waiters. We had the beef shawarma with falafel, basmati rice, pickles and the taboule salad. The taboule salad was especially good. Oh and forgot the hummus. Pretty good too. Decent prices. Good for groups and kids.

I really enjoy coming here for a quick bite to eat. They always have fast service and the line is never too long when I’ve gone. I’m always pleased with the food – typically I get the spicy chicken(which I find isn’t too spicy actually) with rice and hummus and greek salad. It feels healthy but the portions are big so it’s also filling! However, sometimes I feel rushed to choose what I want because I’m not very familiar with the dishes and the workers aren’t always helpful in explaining what they are. All in all, I give them 4 stars because their food is good but their quality of service is moderate.

I can’t get enough of this place. After reading some of the reviews before going here for the first time, I decided to get the spicy chicken shawarma plate — now it’s the only thing I get from here. Yes, it’s like $ 13, but it’s so worth it. My only complaints would be too much hummus without enough pita and putting the pita bread directly in the bag, mostly because I’m a crazy, paranoid germaphobe. I think they’ve updated this tactic because the last time I went, the pita was in a piece of wax paper or saran wrap. or maybe that was from Azama Grill. I usually get things to go because I’m in a hurry or don’t want to sit here by myself eating. The staff here are very friendly and that spicy sauce is to die for. Fun story: I met 2 employees from here at Brighton Music Hall where they were serving food. One of them was Puerto Rican, so anytime I see him at Garlic and Lemons, I say, «Ajos y limones» and he laughs. I guess I’m funny.

I stopped by this place again post-run for some refueling and it was completely packed on a Thursday at 9pm! I was shocked, but definitely it’s worth waiting in line for the food. I got something similar to the last time I was here. We were going to get falafel on the side, but completely forgot about it since we were too hungry just looking at them load the plates. I got the shawarma spicy chicken wrap in saj with a side of the spicy potatoes. YESSS. I love the roll ups. Especially with the saj because the saj is just so light and fluffy. And I love the pickled veggies in the rollup– so fresh and crunchy. The spicy potatoes were deliciously spicy. Not to the point where I felt like my mouth was going to burn off, but just a slight kick. Great seasoning. Roll up also comes with a drink. My boyfriend got the shawarma plate with 2 meats. The beef and spicy chicken. Beef was a little dry for my taste, but still good. He got the tabbouleh salad on the side with hummus and the rice. And of course, the spicy garlic sauce on the side in addition to the pita bread. If you’re hungry, definitely get the shawarma plate. It comes with loads of food and they are so generous with giving you a lot! Come hungry and leave full :) This is a must try if you haven’t! You’ll only leave full, but definitely won’t feel bad that you ate all that food. I’m definitely excited for when I come back — it’s time for me to try something new on the menu. But the go-to’s are definitely the plate or the Rollup!

AMAZING spicy beef shawarma in boston, can’t get enough of their homemade tahini sauce! I need it as much as I need the white sauce for chicken and rice from the halal guys in NYC– that’s how good it is. I am SO excited that they expanded and have tons of seating now! Never go too late at night past 7−8PM because the spicy beef shawarma by then will have either run out, or with barely any left. Happened to me each time I went after this time.

Best shawarma I’ve ever had. This place is tucked into Allston near all the Korean restaurants, but it does really well for being the odd one out in the area. This place has drastically expanded its seating capacity, which makes it better for groups. Food wise, I’ve read that the spicy chicken shawarma is great, but I personally find their spicy beef to be the best(and I don’t think I’m the only one because when I come at night for dinner, there’s always barely any left!). I normally get the plate combo, which comes with the protein choice, rice or potatoes, a side of your choosing(could be a salad or some other veggie), and garlic or hummus spread(I personally like the hummus more). When I get the shawarma I always make sure to ask for extra tahini sauce because it just elevates the dish! Portion wise, you get A LOT of food – if you’re really hungry you might be able to finish it in one sitting(and you’ll be stuffed), but if not then it’ll probably be another meal for you. I also tried the falafel and I was not a fan of the taste, but that might be just me, Overall, a great place to get some legit shawarma,.go spicy beef!
