This was my go to place for months but I just can’t do it anymore. For the most part I like the people that work there and I’m not concerned about hygiene(never been sick before). The problem for me after many months is the food. The lamb/beef schwarma is sooooo dry. The chicken is flavorful but also super dry. I’m not sure how that’s possible give how it is supposed to be made. The meat should be hot and juicy. I like that they have daily specials but they need to figure out their namesake dish first. I read a review that things are microwaved? Could this be the culprit? My very good friends are Lebanese and I have had legit lamb/beef/chicken. This ain’t it. I hope they read these reviews, isolate the problem, and fix it. In the meantime no schwarma for me!

As a Shawarma lover, I’ve had it all over the world. This one rates add THE worst ever. Any amount if tehini added did not help this dried up pieces of meat(both the chicken and the lamb). The only thing saving them from one star is the side salad that was ok. The place is not attractive and everything was served in paper plates and plastics

Have been going here for a while and things have always been good but lately things have gone bad. Shawarma is undercooked and the pieces are sliced so big that it’s impossible to eat them. Also filled with fat rather than meat. They have also been writing the wrong labels on the rolls almost every time we go. Bring the old management back otherwise nobody will eat at Shawarma king anymore.

Nice for a quick roll up or plate. Not the most delicious food ever, but pretty darn good. Spicy if you’d like it to be! Family run place that is a good stand by if you want to grab a quick bite. Do very much like the hummus and their chicken roll up.

This place has the best mediterranean-middle eastern food I’ve ever had, bar none. Whatever I get here is always amazing, from the lamb/beef, chicken, and kafta kebab wraps, to the ground beef hummus to the rose water lemonade. Man oh man, it seriously doesn’t get much better than this. The food is inexpensive, fast, and delicious and the workers are very friendly. I live nearby and this might be my favorite place in the neighborhood. I’m not a big Unilocal reviewer but I just had to make an exception for this amazing place.

Went for a quick bite at dinner and ordered the chicken shawarma platter. Garlic paste was delicious but the chicken was absolutely dry as a bone. Falafel side was freshly warmed and delicious.

Delicious Lebanese food with excellent service. The employees give the sentiment that they truly appreciate the patronage and are very kind. The food is fresh and gives the experience of a home cooked meal at a fast food price. One of my regular spots.

Without exaggeration — this was one of the reasons I chose to move to Coolidge Corner ten years ago. Something about great food, sitting outside on the no frills picnic tables on a sunny day watching the world walk by was so enticing. And this place rarely if ever disappoints. I’ve come to be a regular of sorts and the owners know my specials when I walk in, even though it’s only once or twice per month on average(if that). I stand firmly by that they have the best hummus I’ve ever had. Their chicken shawarma wraps(ask for it spicy!), the baked lamb special(ask for tahini), and the mouhoukia(sp?) are the other menu highlights for me. And the lemonade is great too(sorry they don’t have fresh pineapple juice anymore). Without question the place I will miss the most when I eventually move out of Coolidge Corner.

Tabouli salad was amazing! For anyone looking for a hearty Mediterranean lunch this is the place for carry out. Had the rotisserie chicken and it was super juicy and flavorful. They sell halal food which is always a plus!!! Next time I visit Boston, this place would be a definite repeat!!!

I came back here after they responded to my complaint on Unilocal.Everyone at the restaurant was more than apologetic and remade the meal that I ordered last time. I’m now very happy customer here and incredibly grateful that they had given me the opportunity to another try. My second experience was awesome and the staff was so friendly. So, given that, I couldn’t recommend this place more :)

This is one of my favorite shawarma places in town. Portions are fabulous(I can split a plate with someone and be satisfied), meat is delicious, and the staff feel like family. I highly recommend the garlic sauce as well, if you like garlic that is.

I have been waiting to eat here for 3 years, constantly passing by and hearing good things. However when I did decide to drop in I was disappointed. Whether my hopes were too high, or I caught them on a bad day; I experienced a very dry beef/lamb and chicken from the #20 combo plate. My girlfriend commented that the wrap wasn’t too bad, but she also disliked the meat plate. Wish I had a better experience… dreams were crushed.

My boyfriend and I came for lunch around 1 pm. Full tables outside but plenty of room inside. It’s kind of cramped inside but not uncomfortable. Everyone was really friendly: we even got a free baklava finger each after our meal. I had the grape leaves dinner plate and he had the beef shawarma dinner plate. Both were incredible. Tender, well-spiced meat. Flavorful dolmas. Great salads, fantastic pickles and rice. Seriously: not one thing was bland or out of place in this meal. The baklava was great too! Already making plans to come back, though it’s been three hours and I’m still not sure we’ll ever be able to eat again.

I’ve lived in the neighborhood for 3 years now and visit about 2 – 3 times a month. The food is delicious and the service is outstanding. Firas is the absolute best and always brightens my day. Definitely try the rose water lemonade

For some background on my taste – my grandfather is Lebanese, so I’ve had my share of Arabic/Middle-Eastern food with that side of my family and at all kinds of restaurants. Came here for a dinner with my girlfriend. Falafel sandwich was good, but not outstanding. It took about 5 minutes to make. My girlfriend had the kufta sandwich. It took about 10 minutes to make(I finished my sandwich in that time). The veggies had an odd aftertaste, she described it as plastic. The kufta itself was fine, except for a few bites that must have had sand or something in them, cause that’s how we both described the sensation. I won’t be coming back here, it wasn’t that great, contrary to the ratings. I’d rather go to Piperi by Boston Common.

It taste good but not the best I had. The portion is small and I had to go to another restaurant to order a large rice bowl to fill my hunger. I usually don’t eat much but this portion of the shawarma is just too small for me. The sauce leaked everywhere even all over my bf’s pants. The restaurant itself is very dirty and uncomfortable to sit in. They have very good lemonade though. It’s got the Middle Eastern tea flavor in it which makes their lemonade different.

Ok so I stopped in for another snack! I’m only in Boston for two days so I’m going to eat as much as possible ha ha. I ordered the chicken skewer kebob. Sooooo good and it’s on a bed of chopped lettuce and onion with their dressing. Chicken was tender and moist. Will be back if I’m in the area again!

Do you sometimes have cravings for some decent Middle Eastern cuisine in Brookline? Sometimes, for some strange reason, I have cravings for some simple, tasty and filling Middle Eastern style cuisine and I have been coming here fairly often, since it is one of my primary places for somewhat inexpensive food whenever I am in Brookline. Their specialty is Shawarma, which are these grilled meats placed on a rotisserie. I have come here multiple times to get their Beef Lamb Shawarma sandwich, and it is really simple and humble but tasty dish. The pita bread has a nice toasty crispiness. The texture of the meat is not bad, but the vegetables combined with the tenderness of the meat made it a tasty sandwich. It’s definitely good for a light lunch, if you are not so hungry and it should be under $ 8. I probably would not recommend the Chicken Shawarma here because the chicken was a little dry. I also had the falafel here, and I don’t think it’s the best falafel I had, but it’s decently good and a great complement to any shawarma sandwich they serve here. It has a good crispiness and the tahini sauce is also decently good. Adding some falafel to a Shawarma sandwich is a good way to make your stomach fuller. The dinners they serve here have excellent portions and they come with rice, salad and pita bread. Although you may need to spend $ 15, their meals are big enough to fill the stomach of a hungry man. I had their beef shish kabobs and the flavor and tenderness were pretty good. This place is not a good place for late night food in Brookline. They are usually open until 9PM. Overall, if you are looking for some decently good Middle Eastern cuisine at a reasonable price, this place is a pretty good choice. If I have more cravings for some Middle Eastern food in Brookline, I would probably come back to this place often. Also, these guys seem to be really committed in making sure they serve some of the best«halal» food in Brookline.
