After several decades of Max’s and then Ben’s bakery, they have closed their doors for good. I have been told he retired and they did not plan on opening another store. So sorry to hear this as they were a really good bakery that will be missed.

Best eclairs i have ever had! The pastry is always cooked just right… you can hear it when you tap the outside! The custard in the middle and pastry have just the right sweetness… so when you bite into it and get a little of the chocolate frosting on top it is perfect! The chinese almond cookies are awesome too! Reminds me of the bakery in NY that i grew up going to. Great stuff!

A coworker brought in 3 boxes of these awesome pastry. I can’t believe how good this place is. This reminds of Pastry shops from New York or Boston, very fresh!

Let me say first that I am a baker and very particular about my baked goods. My theory is excellent ingredients will give you a finished product that you can be proud of. All I can say is… Ben must use excellent ingredients but even more than that Ben must have a little magic! The French pastries were wonderful! The chocolate pastry cream was amazing, and the puff pastry light and crisp. However the star of my purchase was the Linzer cookie!!! Large and beautiful windows of perfection!!! The raspberry filling was sticky and thick in the best way and the tart berry filling paired perfectly with the tender sweet cookie! I will be back for more! Ben… You sir are an amazing baker!

The bakery items looked very good! The service on the other hand will ensure i won’t be back and neither should you! Two things; the girl behind the counter must have been sick which, ok i understand. But when she was loudly hocking a loogie and loudly spitting it out while I’m trying to choose what item i want to consume, well it just sorta ruined my experience. Yuck! Second they don’t take cards. Cash or check. Who carries checks anymore! When it came time to pay her response was, «cvs has cash back». Yea like thats convenient. Ill go get cash and then drive all the way back so you can save your 5% by not accepting cards. Better yet, ill just write this review to let you all know and just use another bakery. Ha.

My Florida family’s been getting cakes here for years(both when it was B&K and now), great cake, even better prices and service. Anyone in the Altamonte area who loves baked good should definitely check this place out. WARNING: They are cash/check only, so be prepared for that.

I’ve been in the parking lot so many times and never knew there was a bakery tucked away between the Wing House and First Watch! Thanks to Liza W.‘s review I found my way inside Ben’s Bake Shop. The place is small and a little older. This is definitely a family affair– there looked like there must have been three generations behind the counter! I was helped by a nice lady who was very rushed. I got a selection of butter cookies and several pastries. I must say that the butter cookies were pretty dry, but they did have a good flavor. The pastries, however, were delicious! Our favorite was the éclair– from the delicious cream filling to the rich chocolate icing on top, it was heavenly! We also tried a cream cheese puff, blueberry danish, french chocolate pastry, a chocolate chip cookie and something that looked like a ding dong. Prices are really reasonable too– the danishes cost between $ 1-$ 2 each and were pretty sizable. They had a case of yummy looking cakes and pies as well. I can’t wait to try some other their other baked goods! Beware– this place is CASH/CHECK ONLY!

Ben’s Bake Shop is a bakery located in in the TGIF’s plaza at the corner of Semoran/436 and The Westmonte Dr light, about ½ mile from where Semoran/436 and I4 intersect in Altamonte Springs. They have recently changed their name from BK Bakery, which it’s been named for the 10+ years I’ve hit here. Same people, same baker, same products since the name has changed. This small shop produces some quality goods, including some lovely Jewish specialty items(babka, challah bread and rolls, rugala, etc.). My hubby is a huge fan of their apple strudel, chocked full of apples and really delish. My office has grabbed cakes here for office’s B’days and celebrations for years. All are fresh and tasty. Various cookies, cakes and pasties are in the display cakes to grab and go, they also take orders over the phone. Wise to do before a holiday weekend, as the small shop is usually slammed. Very nice people and the items are super fresh and tasty.
