This is a clean hotel that has all the necessities. My family and I stay in the area a couple of times per year and this is definitely our preferred place. The staff is friendly. Continental breakfast is provided. The Direct TV provides plenty of movie options. The location works out great for our needs.

Visiting on business in the Houston-Alvin area(from Austin), my experience with this Holiday Inn Express: great value, professional staff, and perfect for my business travel needs. Morning breakfast, coffee, and juice comes with the price — as did my wifi. Nice bookend to my check-in that included a light snack. Good deal.

After a horrible experience at the Rodeway Inn in Alvin —(I booked online and wanted to save money — worst mistake EVER = didn’t stay there) I went to the Holiday Inn Express in Alvin to rescue me. :) There were several weddings that weekend and I got the last room on a Friday night. The girl at the front desk was SO nice and sympathetic. She helped me secure a different room for the following three nights. Everyone that I met that worked at this hotel were nice and actually seemed to like their job! Big Plus! The beds are simply wonderful. I can’t think of a time where I slept in a nicer hotel bed. The rooms I stayed in were very clean and well appointed. The only down-side was the window A/C unit — it was rather noisy. All in all, great place to stay. Highly recommend!

Up until a few months ago there was nothing like this Holiday Inn in this tiny, little town. Now, it seems to be taking it’s place along what is becoming a mini hotel row on a quiet stretch of highway out in rural Texas. This being the newest place to hit this town, we decided to stay here rather than our previous favorite, the Best Western(basically right next door). I prefer indoor hallways anyway and have held a Rewards Card with Holiday Inn for a long time. I wish I could be more pleased with this brand spanking new place. It just seems like it could be just a little bit better than it is in many ways; although, it’s certainly not bad. I’m judging quality with an eye towards the value for the price and so while certain things are great(like that heavenly comfortable new bed!); others are pitifully lacking(like that window air conditioning system that was noisy as hell!). You get the use of the huge great room for a free continental breakfast every morning. This is certainly a nice touch; the room is well appointed and comfy. The staff is neighbor like in their friendliness and so there are no complaints there. And while they offer many selections, the breakfast just doesn’t cut it for me. The bagels did not appear fresh and inviting, there was no waffle maker like the Best Western had, the eggs that were sitting were sometimes ok and the other choices were just kind of bleh. Even the fruit was bleh. The TV turned to the news was fine but the piped in music also playing ever present in the background took a hit on my too much stimulus at once button. No like. I did find the room itself to be rather comfy and nicely appointed. We had a king bed, no smoking. In fact, the entire facility is no smoking. The bed, as I said before, was almost like sleeping on a heavenly cloud. Too bad the damn air conditioner in the window(now controlled by the newer digital set-the-temp thing on the wall) only blew at one speed and that was loud. It wrecked a bit of havoc with my comfort level for sleeping. On the few nights we needed neither heat nor A/C; rare, it was great. All of the new hotel rooms seem to have the lamps with the plug-ins on them so you don’t have to reach behind the bed and unplug their stuff. Very nice. Large flatscreen, fridge; all good. The bathroom looks nice but somehow the super tall shower ends up creating it’s own cold air tornado whoosh of air that I thought only happened if my husband decided to open the door and stand there. :-) Guess not. Written in my travelogue: Until the La Quinta(same owners) is built right next door, this will be my hotel of choice when in the area.
