First time eating here, very good food! Cornbread was DELICIOUS! And banana pudding was very tasty! Will definitely come back to eat here…

one of my favorites for to-go lunch. it is very close to my office & they have lunch combos that are very reasonably priced. I normally get the 2-meat combo with chopped & sliced brisket {sometimes I get ribtips to mix it up} they serve it on a slice of texas toast so it is super filling & travels well without getting mushy & gross. the meat is seasoned well & has a nice smoky flavor. sersiously, the best beans & mac/cheese around. they also serve sweet cornbread muffins with every meal & they are a treat. I’m usually too full to eat mine, but it’s always fresh & delicious. also, they have several different bbq sauces to choose from, but the devil’s spit is my absolute favorite! it is spicy & extra tasty. my order is ready in 10 minutes or less & I really appreciate that when picking up a to-go order.

Not our first time here but wow! The food was amazing. I had a long island iced tea and it was delish. For an appetizer, we had the barbecue nachos and they were amazing. Couldn’t stop eating them. For dinner, we had the feast for two which fed 3 adults and two kids. Overall an awesome meal!

We have stayed in the hotel next door and went for dinner thinking it was going to be great… Service was very slow and food not as we hoped… We came back this weekend and de sided to go in for drinks in the bar… There was three people sitting in there and no bar tender… We sat and waiting and no one came out… The service was horrible there wasn’t even anyone at the front… We walked out and paid happily full price at salt grass with a wonderful bartender Won’t be making it there for a third time. If your at the hotel. Keep walking and try another place…

I hoped for so much better than this last visit provided. The service was slow(seated about 10 min before served drink) and food wasn’t real good

Man I got a brisket burger and it was the best thing I’ve ever had. My wife got a burnt end sandwich and she loved it. Kids got ribs and they were tender as hell. I could not be more pleased.

I have been to this Famous Dave’s location a few times as the first time I went was during lunch then the next time was for dinner with a family of 6. For lunch, we sat at the bar area as it was open seating. The bar area obviously has the bar which was huge & circular tables on the perimeter. Our waiter was attentive to when we say down who then served the complimentary chips. Famous Dave’s had a lunch menu which is awesome. For our dinner we sat in the dining room near the fireplace.(I wish we asked for. Booth as the seats were hard) We ordered appetizers and when they arrived I guess the waitress put in the wrong order so we got what we wanted & another dish. For our entrees we ordered two Family Feasts the one that feeds two people. We obviously were able to take some home. Everyone who waited & served us were excellent! They even had a balloon/magic man that entertained the kiddos(he does great magic). I would definitely recommend coming here if you want something familiar.

2nd time. Takes 15 minutes for drinks. Been sitting for 45 minutes now waiting on a appetizer! Don’t go here if you have plans for the rest of your night. Sure will put a dent in your time schedule.

All around good BBQ. Advise, if you are ever in Amarillo on a Tuesday suggestion go to famous Dave’s. The special is pulled pork, ribs, and chicken with coleslaw, baked beans, corn bread, potatoes, corn on the cob, and free chips. Hope I didn’t forget anything. All of this for only $ 11.99. Was any of it the best I have ever had? NO, but it was pretty good.

The bartender was awesome and is likely the only good thing about this place. It was Monday night and no one was in there. I ordered a loaded baked potato to go and a side of jalapeños. When I got back to my room I found the most pitiful baked potato ever with no bacon and everything on the side. Come on guys! Really?! It’s not like y’all in the weeds or something. Also, no cutlery with my to go order… Hmph. I walked back had them«re-do» my order and kindly asked for no spit. Still probably one of the shittiest potatoes I’ve ever eaten. My mom had the beer battered cod. Not that good either. Basically it will make a turd…

Having never even been to Famous Dave’s, and tired of driving around Amarillo to find a place for dinner, I tried Famous Dave’s. Living in the D/FW area and knowing that their is no FD in the metroplex, My expectations were low. Why low? Well, if you can’t survive in a metro area with 6 million people, than why would my expectations be high? Well, As I looked over the menu, the server brought me some chips to munch on. Not the greatest, but the price was right, and as my ADD kicked in weighing my options, the perfect relief. What to do… Ribs? Burnt ends? Brisket? Well, I decided on the St. Louis Ribs ½ slab. The ribs were very tender, and light on the sauce which I requested. Their was plenty of meat between the bones and I used the Devils Spit, to dump the meaty pieces into, as well as the fries. Pretty darn good. All in all, good service, and very surprised how great the ribs were. Next time in Amarillo, will hit FD again. OH, Get the pineapple as a side. Great surprise too!

It was close to the hotel… I’ve had their Georgia pork many times @ other locations. Wow, not in a good way. It was tough and just tasted wrong. It was so bad I sent it back and got the brisket.(I never send food back) but it was terrible. The brisket was just okay at best. Other locations brisket has been better as well. The server was no winner. Don’t bother, waste of time & money.

In a heavily hotel populated stretch of I40, the transient trafic keeps Dave busy but what about repeat business? Well, not from me. Two-Meat BBQ Combo $ 13.95 with brisket and hot links is a great price but I was disappointed ribs were not a choice. The menu sure talks them up so I wanted to try them out. Too bad I won’t wast a meal here just to try them. Two sides included, I chose Beans and Mac n Cheese. She went with chopped pork sandwich. Saturday night and the dinning room was packed with families but the bar was dead. Not too family friendly I guess. The most action was coming from the off shift employes chatting it up with the barkeep who was too busy to tend her flock. At least she knows where the after shit part is. Waiting for my meats, there was plenty of opportunity to try out the sauce: Rich & Sassy– a little sweet with low end kick. Kicks in on the way down. Good, all around Georgia Mustard– heavy on the vinegar with the kick up front. Good base to a wings sauce Sweet & Zesty– thick and peppery. Sits on the toung and may be the winner here Texas Pit– you have to chew through this pepper and herb heavy BBQ gravy. Too fancy for me with a little sweet. Devil’s Spit– tasted like a bitched up Rich & Sassy. It’s not very hot but will hang on the taste buds so if you don’t do spice, stay away or it could ruin your meal. I liked it. The food arrived and I was ready to feast. Brisket was moist but not wet. A knife was needed and so were teeth. Eating it dry(without sauce) opened up the flavor. This is not the best I’ve had but its better than out of state BBQ. The Hot Link was a let down. There was more flavor in the wet rub, caramelize on the skin than in the meat. Beans were average, not too thick and more sweet than tangy. I’ll give them a 6⁄10. Mac n Cheese is a winner with diced green chili mixed in. No spice but together with corn kernels made for a nice surprise. Good job Dave. The corn bread fell apart when the paper was pulled but my muffin top was entacked and proved worthy. The overall experience was disappointing at best. Our bartender was more concerned about where to get plastered after her shift than refilling drinks and serving up food. The meat was marginal but the prices were good. If you consider what you get out of it, the price may have been too high. I have a feeling few locals return to Daves, I know I would not.

One of the best bbq place I’ve ever been! Prior to this, I’ve only ever had Rudy’s, so I was excited to try something new. First of all, great service! Most important, great food! They have several different bbq sauces, some spicy and some sweet. They bring out chips to have you try all of them out. The sweet one was my favorite! The pricing is fair, and this place is definitely worth going.

Strong agree with Jim P. Nice service, but straight up mediocre BBQ. Super sweet and kind of tasteless, so that you need a lot of sauce — none of the five of which were any good. I was just passing through Amarillo, so I can’t speak to the alternatives, but this place definitely wasn’t anything special.

Hands down! The best tasting bbq. And Dave’s mac & cheese is delicious! And the cornbread is phenomenal! I’ve been to Dave’s in El Paso, Texas; Phoenix, Arizona; and here in Amarillo, Texas. And I’ve never had any problems with the food. They also have a fantastic wait staff.

Yet another BBQ restaurant in Amarillo. It’s a chain, but it’s supposed to have these award winning ribs. After trying them, though, I don’t think they’re special at all. Came here for dinner with a few friends and we were eager to try the newest BBQ in Amarillo. We were seated quickly and ordered pretty quickly. I noticed one thing missing right away: Where the eff are the complimentary dinner rolls? NOCOMPLIMENTARYDINNERROLLS? I almost stood up and demanded that we head to Texas Roadhouse right then. It didn’t help that we were starving and the food took about 18 minutes to arrive. Ugh. I ordered a half slab of the ribs($ 15.50), which comes out to 6 ribs. They’re rubbed with this award-winning combination of spices and seasonings and brushed with their award-winning sauce. I didn’t think the sauce was very good, but what really ruined them was that the ribs were dry and a little overcooked. You got that«fall off the bone» effect but for a totally different reason. It was so dry it flaked much like a smoked salmon. Ew. Got some coleslaw, corn on the cob and french fries on the side. Fries and coleslaw were good but the corn on the cob was completely flavorless. It was of the frozen variety, which one can only expect, but surely you can make sure you drain all the water out of it after cooking and then butter and season it! Nope. It was full of water and super soggy. Gross. Service was the one bright star for this restaurant. My wife wanted her ribs with sauce on the side and it came out totally sauced. She didn’t want to say anything, but the manager came by and asked so she told her. She immediately comped her meal. Awesome. So another restaurant joins the Amarillo BBQ scene and misses the mark. I’m not completely crossing this place off my list, but I’ll give them some time to make improvements. Pros: four BBQ sauces to choose from, huge family platters of meat, excellent service and dedication to satisfied customers Cons: ribs were dry, corn on the cob was soggy, what’s up with the high prices?
